‘Shovels in the ground faster’: Frustrated by long delays, Doug Ford plans to push other premiers to support better co-ordination with Ottawa for big infrastructure projects

Ottawa needs to work with provinces so that big infrastructure projects can get going faster, says Premier Doug Ford in what will be his main push as he heads to the annual summer meeting of provincial and territorial leaders.

Frustrated in particular by the decade-plus of delays to the Ring of Fire critical mineral project in northern Ontario — as well as slowdowns on others in dealing with two levels of government — Ford is hoping to get the country’s 12 other provincial and territorial leaders on side at the Council of the Federation, which runs Monday to Wednesday in Winnipeg.

Before a shovel can be picked up 10 years of consultation and environmental assessment are required to build one reactor on land adjacent to existing reactors.

Welcome to the Islamic Republic of France – or is it Faraz?

There will not be a wave of adherence to Islam, but more simply the religious minority will impose its rules by becoming the majority.

These are the twenty most popular names among newborns, boys and girls. In Algeria? Tunisia? Egypt? Saudi Arabia? Iraq? Yemen? No, in the sixth largest department of France, Seine-Saint-Denis.
Muhammad, Adams, Ibrahim, Isaac, Rayan, Mousse, Imran, Amir, Ismaël, Aylan, Lina, Nour, Inaya, Aya, Fatima, Aicha, Mariam, Maryam, Fateumata, Sarah.

Already today hundreds of territories are beyond the control of the Republic. The violence of recent days has proved it.

Environmentalism is austerity on steroids

There are countless contradictions on what passes for the left these days. We’re against sexism, they cry, and then they’ll while away entire days hounding every uppity broad who dares to question the trans ideology. We’re anti-racist, they say, even as they yell ‘Uncle Tom’ at any person of colour who deviates from their white liberal orthodoxies. Be kind, they tweet, in between their venomous crusades against TERFs, gammon, boomers, deplorables, ‘semi-fascists’, you name it.

As Ukraine’s counteroffensive falters, the blame game begins

With Ukraine’s counteroffensive progressing more slowly than hoped, a change in the relationship between Kyiv and its Western backers may lie in store. In an interview with CNN, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy blamed the West for the faltering operation, saying that slow weapons deliveries to Ukraine thwarted plans to begin sooner.

Dutch farmers’ party prepares for power as gov’t of WEF favorite Mark Rutte collapses

After 18 months in power, the coalition government of the Netherlands, led by World Economic Forum (WEF) favorite Mark Rutte, has collapsed.

With agreement impossible to reach between the four ruling parties over the vexed question of immigration policy, the country faces calls for new elections.

Whilst this development appears to favor the anti-immigration Party for Freedom (PVV), led by Geert Wilders, another party is likely to make a major impact.

French Riots: Ignoring the Rotten Root of the Problem

… The French nation is deeply divided. But does it still exist? The various political forces have virtually no control over the current phenomenon. The far Left, through the left-wing coalition of the NUPES, and more particularly La France Insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s party, have played the very dangerous game of fanning the flames by justifying the violence of the rioters in a lamentable exercise in revolutionary one-upmanship of which the French Left, since 1789, has participated. That said, their mobilisation came to a serious halt, forcing them to recognise the limits of their rhetoric of universal fraternisation of the oppressed. In Brest, rioters attacked the Happy Café, an LGBT bar identified on social media as a “fag bar” by the angry rioters. The bar had to close its doors … and the local far-Left had to admit that the fantasy of a convergence of struggles was nothing but a sham.

… France has welcomed millions of people to its shores but has been careful not to teach them to love their country. Today, the seeds of hatred have been sown among the displaced young people, the French nationals, who loathe the country in which they grew up, aided and abetted by a national education system that has taken great care over the years to instil in them the ‘right to be different’ and ‘respect’ for their cultures of origin. Further harm is then inflicted by a new phenomenon, since 2005, of the assumed Islamisation of the rioters’ discourse, as researcher Florence Bergeaud-Blackler points out: some rioters are allegedly responding to the supposed ‘Islamophobia’ of those in power.

Lots of interesting tid bits in this article.

Bonus holes?

As holes go, they are arguably the most important in the world. Every man and woman ever to have lived – except those born by caesarean section – has sprung forth into this world from one.

And yet a charity dedicated to women’s health, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, is suggesting that the word ‘vagina’ could be referred to as the ‘bonus hole’ to avoid offending or excluding trans men or ‘non-binary’ people.

As a feminist campaigner, I am appalled. I’ve spent time over the decades trying to raise awareness among women about our bodies.

White House Press Secretary Claims Racially Discriminating Against Students is a Constitutional Right

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has only the faintest notion of what is or isn’t constitutional. Or at least as much as your average HuffPo reader. Anything she likes is constitutional and anything she doesn’t is unconstitutional.

When the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, Karine Jean-Pierre waded in to declare that the Supreme Court’s actions were unconstitutional.
