The Guardian’s self-laceration is embarrassing to watch

The Guardian is currently engaged in an orgy of sanctimonious breast-beating. After two years’ research commissioned by its proprietor, the Scott Trust, it has discovered that its founding editor John Edward Taylor and some of his backers had ‘extensive links’ to slavery. This has caused something like a nervous breakdown in the paper’s York Way offices. The editor, Katharine Viner, writes that the revelation made her ‘sick to my stomach’. The paper’s staff are said to be ‘tormented’ by the thought. There have been abject public apologies, promises of amendment, and all the usual apparatus of cringing self-laceration.

Musk says the NYTimes’ ‘propaganda isn’t even interesting’ and their Twitter feed is the ‘equivalent of diarrhea’ as he takes a swipe at the Gray Lady after it declined to pay $8 monthly verification fee

Elon Musk has launched yet another attack on The New York Times just as Twitter removed the publication’s verified check mark.

In multiple tweets he said the publication was guilty of publishing boring ‘propaganda’ and said its feed was like ‘diarrhea’ because it put out too many tweets.

‘The real tragedy of [The New York Times] is that their propaganda isn’t even interesting,’ wrote Musk early on Sunday morning. ‘Also, their feed is the Twitter equivalent of diarrhea. It’s unreadable,’ he added.

Dutch government pauses nitrogen emissions policy after pro-farming party’s election win

The Dutch government has agreed to pause its plan to drastically cut nitrogen-based emissions after a pro-farming party delivered a major upset in provincial elections.

Mark Rutte, the Dutch Prime Minister, on Friday announced that the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) party, one of his coalition partners, wants to renegotiate the commitment to halving the country’s nitrogen emissions by 2030.

TikTok: America’s Do-Or-Die Moment with China

Adi Robertson, The Verge’s senior tech and policy editor, makes an impassioned plea to not ban TikTok, China’s popular video-sharing app, on free speech grounds. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), speaking on the floor of the Senate on March 29, also raised First Amendment objections to a proposed TikTok prohibition.

Nonetheless, it is time to either ban TikTok or force the sale of all its shares to American parties. The American owners must also control all the app’s algorithms, in particular, the algorithms curating content. If Beijing does not permit such a sale, the federal government should expropriate TikTok.

Bill Maher and J.K. Rowling Are Asking Questions About Transgenderism That Many on the Left Won’t

A Gallup poll from lasted year found that the percentage of Americans identifying as LGBT increases with each generation, with less than 1% of those born before 1946, 2.6% of Baby Boomers, 4.2% of Generation X, 10.5% of millennials, and 20.8% of Gen Z. Does that look organic? Of course, it doesn’t; it’s a social contagion. Even left-wing comedian Bill Maher recognizes what’s happening: that being LGBT, particularly transgender, is trendy.

France minister: ‘Over 1,000 officers injured in unrest’

More than 1,000 law enforcement officers and firefighters have been injured in demonstrations and riots across France, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin told local media on Sunday.

In an interview with France’s Journal du Dimanche, Darmanin said since March 16, “1093 police officers, gendarmes and firefighters have been injured.” He added that there have also been “2,579 arson attacks and 316 attacks on public buildings.”

He did not reveal how many protesters have been injured but told the weekly newspaper that 36 officers were being probed on charges of excessive use of force.

6 children will return to Quebec from Syrian detention without their murderous psychopath ISIS mother

Six Canadian children are set to leave a Syrian prison camp and fly to Canada without their mother, who cannot come with them because federal officials have not completed her security assessment, advocates for the family say.

The federal government gave the Quebec woman until today to decide whether her children would join other Canadians on the repatriation flight, expected to depart any day now, or remain with her in Syria, said Alexandra Bain of the group Families Against Violent Extremism.

“I’m shocked. It doesn’t make any sense,” Bain said Saturday in an interview. “It’s not how I expect Canada to behave.”

BOO FRICKIN HOO ! She’s a Muslim terrorist who forfeited all rights when she signed on for the Mohammedan murder cult’s ISIS branch.

It’s not how I expected Canada to behave either. They should just put a bullet through the terrorists head.

Varmints, soldiers and looming threats: See the ads used to sell the AR-15

The Colt AR-15 looked more like a laser blaster than dad’s trusty rifle when it hit the market in 1964.

It was made from aluminum and plastic, not the heavier metals and wood used in traditional firearms. Its cartridges were tiny compared with typical hunting ammunition. And it was all black — a dour monochrome far from the rich walnut accentuating many guns at the time.

How the West rolled up a network of Russian ‘sleeper spies’

When a young Brazilian named Victor Muller Ferreira, with a master’s degree from a top American university, landed at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport in April last year to take up an internship at the International Criminal Court in the Hague, things did not go quite according to his plan.

The Dutch authorities had been tipped off by the FBI that he was not who he claimed to be. He had been identified as Sergey Cherkasov, an officer in the GRU, Russia’s military intelligence service. They promptly put him on a flight back to Sao Paulo, where two months later he was jailed for 15 years for identity fraud.

Far-Left Canadians Susceptible to Russian Influence Too

Researchers found that on Twitter, members of Canada’s far left joined those on the far right in embracing pro-Russian messages created by a two-year Russian influence campaign.

While the torrent of leaks about possible interference by China in Canadian politics seems to have ebbed, the uproar over them continues and the federal government presented a budget this week containing some measures it hopes will deal with such meddling.

The budget sets aside 13.5 million Canadian dollars to establish a National Counter-Foreign Interference Office, and it will give the Royal Canadian Mounted Police 50 million dollars to counter harassment of Canadian immigrants by their authoritarian home countries.
