Joe Biden’s state of the union speech ‘bad news,’ Canadian manufacturers say

Canadian manufacturers are concerned about a promise made by U.S. president Joe Biden in his state of the union speech Tuesday evening, pledging to use only American materials in infrastructure projects.

The Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters were quick to respond Wednesday morning, calling the promise “bad news” for Canadian manufacturing and “integrated North American supply chains.” The trade association said there is a need for a “strong response” to “push back and protect Canadian access to the U.S. procurement market.”

The concept of CanCon is pure folly. That’s the problem at the heart of Bill C-11

I’m still waiting for my arts cheque.

The Senate has sent Bill C-11, the Online Streaming Act, back to the House of Commons with a raft of amendments. Bad news: the unelected Senate has no democratic mandate to amend anything. But it’s potentially good news, if the government seizes the opportunity for a little “sober second thought” of its own, and pulls the bill in its entirety.

Seriously CanCon is a circle of hell – preachy leftists nagging you forever with no escape.

Sweden issues rare ban over Quran burning rally

An anti-NATO rally in Stockholm that would have included the burning of a Quran has not been allowed to go ahead. It comes after a similar incident sparked threats from NATO member Turkey.

Swedish police on Wednesday refused to grant permission to a planned rally that would have included the burning of a Quran — a rare move by the Swedish authorities.

The effective ban follows a similar stunt in January which saw a far-right politician burning the Muslim holy book close to the Turkish embassy in Stockholm last month — the same place Thursday’s protest had been planned for.

But Sweden’s security service, Sapo, said that the January rally had increased the risk of attacks against Sweden, citing this in its reason for refusing to greenlight another such protest.

‘Prevent must focus on security not political correctness’: Suella Braverman demands ‘major reform’ of anti-terror programme after review found it’s not doing enough to tackle ‘non-violent’ Islamist extremism with too much focus on right-wing terror

The Home Secretary has demanded ‘major reform’ of the government’s flagship anti-terror programme in the wake of a critical report that found it was ‘failing to understand’ Islamist extremism.

Suella Braverman told MPs that Prevent’s focus ‘must solely be on security, not political correctness’ and said the scheme needs to ‘better understand the threats we face and the ideology underpinning them’.

Disney to slash 7,000 jobs

Update: The Walt Disney company announced Wednesday it is trimming its payroll by some 7,000 employees, becoming the latest major firm to cut jobs as economic uncertainty weighs.

The Walt Disney Co. went woke and now it is paying the consequences, with employees bracing for a bloodbath.

Executives are expecting CEO Bob Iger to announce drastic cost cuts — including layoffs that could number in the thousands — when the company reports quarterly earnings on Wednesday, according to a Business Insider report. The cuts come amid Iger’s ongoing corporate restructuring following a disastrous 2022 that saw company profits tank and its stock plummet 44 percent.

Remembering Nancy Green

Since this is Black History Month, let’s talk about Nancy Green, the first Black corporate spokesperson in the United States. A few years ago, her identity was erased by progressive woke insanity, intent on destroying our nation’s rich and evolving heritage and history.

Green was born a slave in 1834 in Montgomery County, Kentucky. (The 1900 census shows her birth as 1854, but slave births were not precisely recorded, and the handwritten “3” might have been misread as a “5”.) When she died in 1923, Green was a national celebrity having become America’s first living trademark.

There is no such thing as a purely ‘natural’ disaster

The earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria at 4am on Monday is already among the deadliest of our young century. The death toll hit 7,700 on Wednesday morning and is expected to rise dramatically, as the time window for finding survivors in the rubble gets narrower by the minute. In southern Turkey alone, some 6,000 buildings have been levelled, leaving hundreds of thousands homeless. All in all, some 23million people across Turkey and Syria are said to have been impacted by the earthquake and its aftershocks. The humanitarian crisis that is unfolding is bleak beyond words. The obvious question it invites is, could things have been different?

‘I just want to go home’: Alabama jihadi bride stripped of her citizenship after calling for extremists to ‘spill blood of Americans’ pleads to be let back into U.S.

Rot in hell.

An Alabama jihadi bride who was stripped of her citizenship after joining ISIS in Syria now claims the terrorist group plans to attack the Syrian camp where she is detained – but says she ‘just wants to go home’.

Hoda Muthana, 28, says she fears that ISIS will attack Camp Roj – the detention camp in north east Syria where she has been detained.

Muthana joined the terrorist group when she was 20 but now says she was groomed online by members who wanted to attract young and vulnerable women.

The FBI Might Be Infiltrating Your Local Latin Mass

True Face of the Catholic Church – Soviet Communist Propaganda

Kyle Seraphin has a leaked FBI document that purports to show the extremism of “Radical-Traditionalist Catholics.” The document outlines opportunities for agents to recruit assets within the Catholic Church itself.

What’s astonishing about the document is the shoddiness of its analysis and sourcing. The belief that “Radical-Traditionalist Catholics” are a potential threat seems to come entirely from an old report from the Southern Poverty Law Center. This is buttressed in the appendices with a clickbait piece from the Atlantic — about populist and hyper-masculine depictions of rosary beads — and a few more from Salon.

‘Political correctness’ meant Islamist extremism was downplayed by Prevent

Britain’s “politically correct” deradicalisation programme focused on Right-wing extremism while failing to tackle Islamist terror, the Home Secretary has said.

William Shawcross, the review’s author, said Prevent had failed to do enough to counter the dangers from “non-violent Islamist extremism” and had instead broadened the definition of Right-wing extremism to include even mainstream politicians.

He said terrorist attacks had “too often” been committed by Islamist extremists previously referred to the programme because Prevent officials had “failed to understand the danger” they posed and had not dealt “effectively with the lethal risks we actually face”.

Fake meat meets forlorn fate

People aren’t buying the phony baloney any more

Oh, for the halcyon days of, like, two years ago. When the mere mention of cow farts, with their deadly, targeted destruction of all we hold precious on Earth, was enough to move the perpetually guilt-ridden off their moo juice and meatloaf. Desperate to assuage their culpable consciences for their part in environmental collapse, they flocked to niche grocery stores and trendy Whole Foods-type chains to snap up the shaped, mashed-up concoctions of fats and gelatinous vegetable fibers that promised to replace Satan’s food stuff and be almost as tasty.

Rex Murphy: The CBC is boring and preachy and that is why there is ‘CBC bashing’

“There’s a lot of CBC bashing going on – somewhat stoked by the Leader of the Opposition.” — Catherine Tait, President of the Crown Corporation, the Canadian Broadcasting Company. On tour.

It has to be the top unabbreviable qualification of the president of the nation’s largest, publicly funded communications instrument — CBC — that she has some understanding of … communications.

Liberals called on to keep election promise and create racist mockery of a justice system

Black Canadian justice strategy still in the works, as advocates call for reform

Justice Minister David Lametti’s office said he is working with members of Black communities to develop the strategy and will have “more to say on this soon.”

“The priority in doing so is for Black Canadians to have access to fair and just treatment before the law,” said Lametti’s press secretary, Diana Ebadi, in a written statement.

“Canada’s Black Justice Strategy will put us on a path toward a more just and equitable society by addressing systemic discrimination and the overrepresentation of Black people in the criminal justice system, including as victims of crime.”

Because it’s always Whitey’s fault that Blacks commit crimes, especially Black on Black crime.
