Ex-Mexico security chief’s trial poised to lift lid on US and Mexico’s ‘war on drugs’

One of Mexico’s most powerful former officials will stand trial in the US this week, charged with accepting million-dollar bribes from a violent cartel in a case with profound political implications that could expose the inner workings of the “war on drugs” on both sides of the border.

Genaro García Luna, a former head of Mexico’s equivalent of the FBI who went on to lead the country’s security ministry, was arrested in Texas in 2019, charged with conspiring to traffic cocaine and lying to the US government.

He was subsequently charged with taking multimillion-dollar bribes from the powerful Sinaloa cartel, once run by the drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, in exchange for allowing it to operate with impunity, all while he was supposedly spearheading Mexico’s anti-drug efforts.

Meet the Green Energy Group Behind the Study That’s Driving Calls To Ban Gas Stoves

Rocky Mountain Institute partnered with China to implement ‘economy-wide transformation’ away from oil and gas

The green energy group behind a study cited in Consumer Product Safety commissioner Richard Trumka Jr.’s call to ban gas stoves has partnered with the Chinese government to implement an “economy-wide transformation” away from oil and gas.

Colorado-based nonprofit Rocky Mountain Institute, which published the December study that attributes 13 percent of U.S. childhood asthma cases to gas-stove use, is hardly staffed by an objective group of scientists.

Greta vs the working class

At a time when Europe is reeling from catastrophic energy shortages, when millions are struggling to afford to heat their homes, it takes a fair bit of brass neck to insist that people ought to keep on suffering. Because make no mistake, that is the message of climate campaigner Greta Thunberg and the thousands of green activists who gathered in Lützerath in western Germany at the weekend to protest against the expansion of a coal mine. Greta, the 20-year-old prophetess of doom, was even dragged away and detained by police, after refusing to leave the area when ordered to.

Are the Democrats sunsetting Joe Biden?

There are forces in the Democratic establishment who would now like Joe Biden to take his long-overdue retirement

Has Joe Biden suddenly outlived his usefulness? That is what many conspiracy-theory-inclined Americans are saying as the fuss mounts around the classified documents found at one of the president’s offices and his home in Delaware.

I don’t think this is far fetched. But who replaces him? Newsom? He looks a caricature of a greasy evangelical.

TikTok Must be Banned in US and Free World

The United States recently banned TikTok from all federal government devices over growing security concerns. That is a good start.

TikTok, FBI Director Christopher Wray warned at the beginning of December, is controlled by the Chinese government, which is a national security concern.

TikTok, a video-sharing app owned by Chinese company ByteDance, has, according to TikTok’s own estimates, 1 billion users worldwide. In 2021, TikTok had approximately 87 million users in the US, according to Statista. Disturbingly, a recent study found that 10% of US adults get their news from the Chinese app, up from 3% in 2020.

Los Angeles Descends Into Insanity

Oh, what a blessing it is to be retired from the Los Angeles Police Department.

I am proud of the career I had with the LAPD, which spanned more than 30 years, beginning in the early 1980s. It was an era when, though there were many times we asked ourselves, “Who are these morons we’re working for?” was not yet marked by the genuine insanity that afflicts so many currently serving in city government and the upper ranks of the department.

Ontario union OPSEU sues former executives, claims they ‘unlawfully transferred’ millions of dollars, gave union cars to family members

OPSEU, one of the province’s largest unions, is suing three former leaders — including long-time president Warren “Smokey” Thomas — for millions of dollars, alleging they withdrew $670,000 in cash from a strike fund without explanation, received “significant compensation” atop their salaries and had union-purchased vehicles transferred to themselves and their families.

REVEALED: 55% of trans women who have ‘bottom surgery’ are in so much pain they need medical care years later, according to study – and up to a third struggle to use the toilet or have sex

More than half of trans women who have ‘bottom’ surgery are in so much pain years later they need medical attention, a study suggests.

Up to a third of patients also struggled to use the toilet or suffered sexual issues 12 months after the operation, which sees patients transitioning from male to female given a surgically constructed vagina.

Researchers from the Women’s College Hospital (WCH) in Ontario, Canada, analyzed the medical records of 80 patients who sought care from the clinic between three months and five years after having the operation.

Shot in the act: How an explosion in surveillance video is transforming the justice system

Highway cameras track an accused killer in an SUV travelling across Toronto before and after a double murder. A neighbour’s street-facing home security camera captures a man slashing his estranged wife to death with a machete in a driveway across the street.

These are just two examples from recent murder trials at the downtown Superior Court, where judges and juries routinely gaze for hours at computer monitors showing video footage and other digital evidence.

Fifteen years ago it was rare for a killing to be caught on video.

As elites arrive in Davos, conspiracy theories thrive online

NEW YORK (AP) — When some of the world’s wealthiest and most influential figures gathered at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting last year, sessions on climate change drew high-level discussions on topics such as carbon financing and sustainable food systems.

But an entirely different narrative played out on the internet, where social media users claimed leaders wanted to force the population to eat insects instead of meat in the name of saving the environment.

The annual event in the Swiss ski resort town of Davos, which opens Monday, has increasingly become a target of bizarre claims from a growing chorus of commentators who believe the forum involves a group of elites manipulating global events for their own benefit. Experts say what was once a conspiracy theory found in the internet’s underbelly has now hit the mainstream.

Protestors and activists clash at Calgary all-ages drag brunch

There was a noisy protest with a heavy police presence at an all-ages drag event in Calgary on Sunday morning.

Protesters who were against the event were met by LGBTQ2S+ supporters. The two groups were face-to-face outside the Rec Room where the event was set to be held at 10:30 a.m.
Some came with signs saying: Save the Children. Others placards read: We Are Your Children.

It is amazing that the media chooses to advance this perversion, must be a condition of placement on Trudeau’s payroll .
