Anand pledges ‘ambitious’ military culture reform in report to Parliament

Defence Minister Anita Anand has unveiled what she describes as “an ambitious roadmap” to reform the Canadian Armed Forces’ culture amid what experts have called a sexual misconduct “crisis.”

In a new report tabled to Parliament on Tuesday, Anand said she had directed the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces to pursue “an all-hands on deck effort” to address the dozens of recommendations made by former Supreme Court of Canada justice Louise Arbour when she released her long-anticipated report into the culture of the Canadian military in May.

Sounds swell.

Louise Arbour accuses military of foot-dragging, blasts progress on misconduct reform

OTTAWA – Retired Supreme Court justice Louise Arbour accused military leaders of dragging their feet when it comes fighting sexual misconduct in the ranks on Tuesday, even as Defence Minister Anita Anand staked her reputation on their success or failure.

Arbour delivered her scathing indictment to the House of Commons defence committee six months after issuing dozens of recommendations to improve the military’s handling of inappropriate and criminal sexual behaviour.

Did Wagner mercenary chief’s son get dozens of his comrades killed with this photo?

Giveaway image was posted before Ukraine blitzed building with missiles

The son of the Wagner Group’s mercenary boss may have given away their secretive location in Ukraine before it was bombed by Kyiv forces, killing dozens of his comrades.

Pavel Prigozhin, the son of the feared private military group’s chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, allegedly posted a photo on social media in front of the Zhdanova guest house in the city of Kadiivka where the mercenaries were holed up.

Then on Saturday at 8.30pm, Ukrainian forces blitzed the Luhansk hotel, with 18 believed dead and 50 injured, after the giveaway image was shared online.

Maximum Federal Penalty for Gun Trafficking Has Never Been Imposed: Report

Canada’s maximum federal penalty for gun trafficking, which is a 10-year prison sentence, has never been imposed despite the Liberal government proposing it be increased to 14 years, according to an Inquiry of Ministry recently tabled in the House of Commons.

The inquiry showed that 390 individuals had been convicted on charges relating to firearms trafficking over the past eight years, but that none had received the maximum 10-year sentence, reports Blacklock’s Reporter.

Canada is being naive about the risks of Chinese technology

Last week, Ottawa was united in shock over revelations that the RCMP entrusted its critical radio communications systems to Sinclair Technologies, a subsidiary of China’s Hytera Communications Corp. A Chinese state-backed firm, Hytera’s record includes everything from lying to U.S. regulators about its Chinese Communist Party ties to criminal corporate espionage charges. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the other party leaders all agreed: The decision was baffling.

But nobody should be surprised. This is not the first time that Canada has found itself with unwanted Chinese surveillance technology. Without a major status quo shift, it won’t be the last.

Twitter Files reveal woke staffers banned Trump but let Iranian Ayatollah call Israel ‘cancerous tumor’ and Malaysian PM say Muslims had ‘right’ to kill millions

The latest drop of Twitter files showed how the social media company banned President Trump after the January 6 riots, while dictators were allowed to remain on the platform and promote mass violence and genocide.

While Twitter executives decided Trump’s use of the phrase ‘American patriots’ could be a ‘coded incitement to further violence’ and banned him for it, they did nothing when the Iranian Ayatollah and the prime minster of Malaysia explicitly advocated slaughtering millions of lives.

The disturbing revelations came to light on Monday as journalists Bari Weiss and Matt Taibbi continue to come through a trove of Twitter’s internal files and communications that Elon Musk released as a part of his mission to return the platform to a sanctuary of free speech.

Sam Bankman-Fried’s ‘House of Cards’ Teeters

The spectacular rise and fall of Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the failed crypto exchange FTX, came full circle on Monday, with his arrest in the Bahamas at the request of U.S. authorities, followed by the S.E.C. filing its own charges on Tuesday.

The Times reports that federal prosecutors in Manhattan, who are seeking his extradition, will charge Mr. Bankman-Fried with wire fraud, wire fraud conspiracy, securities fraud, securities fraud conspiracy and money laundering. A trial could start late next year.

“Sam Bankman-Fried built a house of cards on a foundation of deception while telling investors that it was one of the safest buildings in crypto,” Gary Gensler, the S.E.C.’s chair, said in a statement. His agency has charged S.B.F., as the entrepreneur is known, with defrauding investors in FTX out of $1.8 billion, including $1.1 billion from U.S. entities. A big part of the fraud, it alleges, was keeping backers in the dark about “the undisclosed diversion of FTX customers’ funds” to the exchange’s trading affiliate, Alameda Research.

Teeters? More like fell down, burned up and sank into the swamp. But being a well connected Dem the swamp may be his salvation.

Horrors in Ukraine, Yesterday and Today

Remembering the Holodomor, the terror-famine Russia inflicted in Ukraine, amid Russia’s latest violence against its neighbor.

… The interpretation of the causes, scope, and effects of Stalin’s assault on the traditional, productive agriculture and industrious peasant farmers of Ukraine in the interests of forced Communist collectivization of farms and the export for hard cash of Ukrainian grain to Western countries was a major controversy until the fall of Russian Communism in the early 1990s, and apologists for Putin’s regime still deny its uniqueness, scope, and significance — indeed, its very existence as a historical fact.

Even dictionaries aren’t safe from the trans agenda being forced down our throats

Despite ‘woman’ being a word that the vast majority of us understand, it’s still being rewritten to suit the opinion of a vocal minority

And… the lady vanishes. Not that we’re allowed to use the problematic word “lady” any more. You could probably get away with “lady who may or may not have prostate gland”.

I’m not joking. The Cambridge Dictionary has updated its definition of “woman” to include anyone who “identifies as female” regardless of their sex at birth. The online dictionary recently added a supplementary definition of a “woman” which includes transgender people.

Alongside the biologically-correct and time-honoured definition of “adult female human being”, a woman can now be “an adult who lives and identifies as female though they may have been said to have a different sex at birth”.

Can you think of any mainstream news organization in Canada willing to publish this article?

The energy crisis has caught politicians cold

The authorities failed to foresee the predictable winter gas demand

It’s cold outside. In the 10 years that I have lived here, I do not think I remember seeing so much snow coverage in London. The markets are feeling the cold too: over the weekend the energy markets recorded record prices. On Sunday, the price for power at peak time (5-6pm) for the following day hit £2,586 per megawatt-hour — a record. It appears that promises of a warm winter were greatly exaggerated.

Junk science lingers: one warm day cited as reason for an imminent climate catastrophe

The revelations from Twitter might be shocking, but it’s not much different from what the media has been doing for decades — picking and choosing what information to share in an effort to create a desired (leftist) narrative.

Just last week, The Washington Post used one warm day as evidence that mankind’s use of natural resources are causing Alaska to rapidly warm

The victim complex of Islamist terrorists

A suspect in the deadly Brussels terror attacks seems to think he is the real victim in all this.

A Belgian Islamist extremist, involved in multiple terror attacks, is currently trying to portray himself as a victim. He claims that Belgium’s standard practices for detaining high-risk prisoners are a breach of his human rights.

Five years later, inside the Barry and Honey Sherman murders

When news of Barry and Honey Sherman’s death broke five years ago it sent a powerful shock wave through Toronto’s business and philanthropic community. Hours later, a bigger shock wave — the theory that Barry killed Honey, then took his own life. The Toronto media were quoting “police sources” and a homicide detective at the scene said they were not seeking any “outstanding suspects.”

That police theory changed to “targeted” double homicide five weeks later when the Star published details of the private autopsy arranged by the Sherman family. Markings on the Shermans’ wrists revealed they’d been bound while alive. Plus, there were thin ligature marks around their necks, under the belts that were holding them in a seated position beside their swimming pool. The belts were used to stage, not kill them.

Here’s Why the Feds Had Arrested SBF Now—Not Sooner or Later

Yesterday, Sam Bankman-Fried (known as SBF), the former CEO of the collapsed cryptocurrency giant FTX, was arrested in the Bahamas and is being held in Bahamian jail pending his extradition to the United States. In an indictment unsealed this morning, SBF was charged with mail and wire fraud, money laundering, and other crimes related to a scheme measured in the billions of dollars.

If convicted on all charges, he faces a sentence along the same lines as the 150 years imposed on the notorious Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff.

For weeks, the Justice Department did not have SBF arrested in the Bahamas, despite widespread public clamor for him to be immediately jailed. There are three reasons why the DOJ waited.

This is the best explanation I have found of the charges and potential consequences the entitled little crook is facing.
