Peter Menzies: How Bill C-11 Could Open the Door to State-Controlled Media

Justin Trudeau’s government is seizing control of the internet and granting itself sweeping new powers that turn its communications regulator into a political puppet.

By now a lot of Canadians have heard of the controversial Online Streaming Act (Bill C-11) which defines the internet as broadcasting and puts it under the control of the independent, arms-length Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). I have written previously about the concerns that raises regarding speech censorship and the threat to the viability of online creators.

The EIGHT most puzzling aspects of the Idaho murder mystery that cops must address

Idaho’s bungling Moscow Police Department have found themselves under increasing pressure to produce answers into the brutal slayings of four students as they slept – including why 911 was only called nine hours later.

Officials who raced to the six-bedroom property initially claimed that there was no wider threat to the public – a statement they retracted three days after the incident and have failed to make a single arrest.

Kaylee Goncalves, 21, was one of the four students brutally knifed to death. Her parents say police told them the crime scene ‘will take a lot of time to process’ and the killer was ‘sloppy’.

RCMP monitored hostility from anti-vaccine movement against Trudeau since election

OTTAWA — The RCMP worried that after arriving in Ottawa, participants in the “Freedom Convoy” would try to pinpoint Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s location, documents suggest — just as demonstrators had tried to do during last year’s election campaign.

The concerns are outlined in assessments by the national police force’s intelligence personnel that were tabled as part of evidence presented at a public inquiry probing the Trudeau government’s use of the Emergencies Act in response to last winter’s protests.

The weeks-long demonstrations, which blockaded downtown Ottawa and several border crossings, were driven by opposition to COVID-19 restrictions such as mask and vaccine requirements. Many participants voiced their opposition to the federal government in general and Trudeau himself.

Liberals stick to script amid hard questions over what PM knew about Chinese election interference

Renewed questions about what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau knew about alleged Chinese interference in the 2019 federal election had Liberal cabinet ministers sticking to their prepared notes during question period on Monday.

A few queries into question period, Bloc Québécois MP Alain Therrien challenged the prime minister’s assertion on Sunday that he hadn’t been briefed on the revelations.

Those comments counter ones made by sources to Global News last month that Trudeau was informed in January that as many as eleven Liberal candidates received funding by the Chinese government.

Men on death row for murder of secular writer snatched by bikers who sprayed police with chemical

Two Islamist militants who were on death row in Bangladesh for the killing of a US blogger critical of fundamentalist Islam have made a dramatic escape on motorbikes while being escorted to a court hearing in the capital, Dhaka.

Would it be OK if she identified as Male?

Birth certificate contradicts Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond’s account of her father’s parentage and ancestry

A birth certificate recently obtained by CBC directly contradicts Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond’s public claims about her father’s ancestry and the identity of his parents.

The government-issued document says William Turpel is the natural-born child of British parents, not an adopted Cree boy of undetermined parentage as Turpel-Lafond has claimed her father was.

Turpel-Lafond, considered to be one of Canada’s most successful and decorated Indigenous scholars and legal professionals, has for decades claimed to be of Indigenous ancestry through her father William Turpel, who she said was Cree. She has said she was the “first Treaty Indian” appointed to the judicial bench in Saskatchewan history.

Biology is fungible only if it offends the right people.

Cory Morgan: What Does Guilbeault’s Uncharacteristic Position at COP27 Signal?

The 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) came and went with less fanfare than these gatherings usually have. The annual gabfest provides the opportunity for activists, politicians, and celebrities to fly private jets across the world to gather in luxury hotels and chide people for their consumption of petrochemical products.

Has the Iranian Government Lost Control Over the Protests?

With people’s anger towards the regime reaching a boiling point and the security forces either reluctant or unable to suppress the protests, the regime decided to resort to proxy forces.

Reports indicate that Irian is deploying its proxy forces to assist its coercive apparatus in cracking down on protesters. Some observers described this as a psychological warfare tactic to deter Iranians from joining the anti-regime protests. These reports, however, appear accurate and demonstrate the regime’s failure to control the ongoing revolution with local forces.

The ongoing social unrest in Iran started on September 16, after the death of Mahsa Amini, a twenty-two-year-old Kurdish woman murdered by the Islamic Republic’s “morality police.” The protests quickly spread throughout the country and the regime’s security forces could not contain them despite using brutal force.

CBS FINALLY wakes up and admits Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop IS REAL

CBS has finally admitted Hunter Biden’s laptop is real – 20 months after DailyMail.com authenticated its contents with top experts.

When files from the laptop were published before the 2020 presidential election, 60 Minutes host Lesley Stahl insisted in an interview with Donald Trump that the contents couldn’t be verified.

The network was among a wide range of left-leaning outlets such as the New York Times and MSNBC who doubted the authenticity as the Biden administration insisted it was Russian disinformation.

On the River at Night, Ambushing Russians

Ukrainian units plying the Dnipro River venture behind enemy lines under the cover of darkness, carrying out reconnaissance and sabotage.

ON THE BANKS OF THE DNIPRO RIVER, Ukraine — Under cover of darkness, a group of soldiers heaved their dinghy off the sand into the water. Another group loaded equipment with a heavy clanking into their boat, while a third pushed off silently with oars. Engines humming quietly, the boats turned to the open water and disappeared into the blackness.

The fighters, a volunteer Ukrainian special forces team called the Bratstvo battalion, were crossing the wide expanse of the Dnipro River, the strategic waterway that bisects Ukraine and has become the dividing line of the southern front. After recapturing the city of Kherson a week ago, Ukrainian forces hold the western bank, while the Russians still hold the eastern bank.
