Torstar employees blindsided by owner court battle

The union representing workers at Torstar Corp. said it was “blindsided” by news of a court application to wind up the parent company, which has put the future proprietorship of the firm’s assets in doubt, including the Toronto Star.

Randy Kitt, director of media for Unifor, said the union had no advance notice a battle was under way between Paul Rivett and Jordan Bitove, who purchased Torstar in 2020 through a newly formed company called NordStar Capital Inc., in which they are equal partners.

Jaded, cynical, disillusioned: report says federal whistleblowers fear reprisal

OTTAWA – Federal workers are increasingly cynical, skeptical and disillusioned about the idea of reporting wrongdoing in the public service, says a recent survey.

That pessimism is more “palpable and widespread” now than it was before the pandemic, and bureaucrats have become more likely to fear reprisals for whistleblowing.

Research firm Phoenix Strategic Perspectives Inc. delivered the report in March to the Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner, which investigates serious abuses within the federal government.

Just who exactly is a public service union whistleblower expected to tattle to? Canada’s public service unions and the Liberal government are in bed together. Trudeau feathers their nest and they watch his back and faithfully vote in return.

King Charles abandons plans to attend Cop27 ‘following Liz Truss’s advice’

King Charles III has reportedly abandoned plans to attend and deliver a speech at the Cop27 climate change summit on the advice of Liz Truss.

The monarch, a veteran campaigner on environmental issues, had been invited to the 27th UN climate change conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, next month.

But the prime minister is understood to have raised objections during a personal audience at Buckingham Palace last month, according to the Sunday Times.

Charlie can’t be happy about that.

After Putin: 12 people ready to ruin Russia next

Vladimir Putin’s disastrous military adventure in Ukraine has raised the prospect that his 22-year rule could be nearing its end. But will he go, or will he have to be pushed?

Seven months into the Russian president’s war of aggression, his troops have suffered massive losses of men and equipment and are in headlong retreat in eastern Ukraine. Putin’s order last week to mobilize hundreds of thousands of men has descended into chaos, drawing rebukes even from his own propagandists and political allies.

The 69-year-old autocrat rose to power in 2000, succeeding an ailing Boris Yeltsin after championing Russia’s second war in Chechnya. The chances of his leaving anytime soon are still remote, but it’s clear that the escalating fallout from his military gamble is already loosening his viselike grip on power.

Anti-Globalism Is Going Mainstream – Which Means Engineered Disaster Is About To Strike

I have noted in the past that criminals tend to brag about their criminality when they believe there’s nothing anyone can do about it. Frankly, in their narcissism many of them can’t help but revel in the moment and let everyone know how “superior” they are to the rest of us. We witnessed many moments like this from elitists within globalists institutions the past couple of years at the height of the pandemic pandemonium.

Decline of the English Bobby, Part I: The Old ‘Peeler’

… One thing that the English constable absolutely was not to be was an enforcer of whatever happened to be the current fashionable ideology or creed of the governing party. In fact, the police constable was not to be political at all. He was a fellow civilian and subject just like everyone else, what Peel called a mere “uniformed citizen.” As Peel wrote elsewhere, the English policeman was just “a person paid to perform, as a matter of duty, acts which if he were so minded he might have done voluntarily.”

The Myth Of The Woke Model Army

More Transvestites is always the answer.

See the news today that Maj. Jamie Lee Henry (above), the first openly trans military officer, was arrested today on charges of being willing to spy for the Russians? And you thought the Penis-Proud Putinists were transphobic!

Phillips Payson O’Brien teaches strategic studies at St. Andrews, and says that diversity and wokeness really is our military’s strength. No, really.

Black Lives Matter: An Empty Slogan

The status of Black Lives Matter as a credibly alleged race-hustling fraud against the trust of the American people was reinforced during the past week, as reported in “Wilkes-Barre man charged with nearly striking officer, selling crack cocaine.” A nearby crowd nonetheless took the suspect’s side during the confrontation: “a crowd gathered and began yelling, ‘Black Lives Matter’ and hurled expletives toward officers, according to court records.”

Is China about to turn on Russia?

President Xi can’t afford to isolate the West

After managing a strained smile and handshake for the cameras, President Xi Jinping walked away from Vladimir Putin with a face like stone. By most accounts, the recent meeting in Uzbekistan between the two leaders, who once spoke of each other as “best friends” and “bosom buddies,” was frosty. In a remarkable admission, Putin acknowledged that the Chinese leader had arrived with “questions and concerns” about the course of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Putin promised to better explain “our position on this issue, although we have talked about it before”.

Nurse sues NHS for ‘forcing racist ideology’ on students

‘First test of woke ideology in the courts’ as health service accused of ‘forcing Critical Race Theory onto people’

A Christian nurse has claimed the NHS is “forcing racist ideology” on students, in the first case of its kind.

Amy Gallagher, 33, is suing the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust alleging discrimination on the basis of race, religion and philosophical belief, as well as victimisation and harassment.

The mental health nurse, who is in the final stages of a two-year course in forensic psychology at the trust, objected to a lecture titled “whiteness – a problem of our time” in Oct 2020, where attendees were forced to confront “the reality of white privilege”.

Unleash nuclear weapons on Ukraine in wake of defeat in Lyman, Chechen warlord tells Putin

Ramzan Kadyrov, the Chechen leader and key Kremlin ally, called on Vladimir Putin to use tactical nuclear weapons against Ukraine in the wake of another major and embarrassing military defeat.

His comments marked the first time a Russian official has openly and explicitly called for the use of atomic bombs in Ukraine.

It came after Moscow admitted it had withdrawn from the key eastern city of Lyman on Saturday in the face of “significant superiority in forces and means”, handing Kyiv a major battlefield victory.
