Finance minister says Canada will not pay $1B US if it joins Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne said on Tuesday that Ottawa does not plan to pay the $1-billion US price tag for a permanent seat on U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” that will oversee the governance and reconstruction of Gaza.

“There [are] a lot of details to be worked out, but one thing which is clear is that Canada is not going to pay if we were to join the Board of Peace,” Champagne told reporters Tuesday morning on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Carney would rather give your tax dollars to UNWRA.

China unlikely to invest in Canadian auto plants, experts say

If the federal government is expecting Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers will rush to build an assembly plant in Canada, economists, industry analysts and insiders say they’re sorely mistaken.

The biggest reasons, say experts? There’s no guarantee Chinese EV makers would be able to sell anything they produced here in the U.S., it would cost billions to build or buy a plant, and they’ve already got more than enough capacity at home.

The goal is for Carney and pals to personally profit from their ‘relationships” with the ChiComs.

They’ll casually lie to further those interests.

Canada must stand with Europe in its defence of Greenland if we know what’s good for us

NATO is facing one of its gravest internal crises since its founding, and Canada is facing its own moment of truth.

President Donald Trump’s demand that Denmark hand over Greenland to the United States goes far beyond his late-night posts on Truth Social. It is a deadly serious attempt by the alliance’s dominant power to carve up the territory of a fellow NATO member.

This is not the first time NATO has been shaken by internal division. But unlike past crises, this one strikes at the very rule that has underpinned Western security for 80 years: that borders are not revised by coercion.

I’m just not buying the elite narrative that I should defend their right to abuse us as serfs just because they’ve wrapped themselves in the flag.

I won’t be signing up to fight for open borders, depressed wages, unaffordable everything and precarious access to medical care even if they throw in a shitty ChiCom EV.

‘The old order is not coming back,’ Carney says in provocative speech at Davos

Prime Minister Mark Carney delivered a frank assessment of how he views the world in a provocative speech in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday, where he said the longstanding U.S.-led, rules-based international order is over and middle powers like Canada must pivot to avoid falling prey to further “coercion” from powerful actors.

Without invoking U.S. President Donald Trump by name, Carney said “great powers” are using economic integration as “weapons.”

“Canadians know that our old, comfortable assumption that our geography and alliance memberships automatically conferred prosperity and security is no longer valid,” Carney said.

Or …”Doing business with the ChiComs is far more profitable without that pain in the ass accountability.”

Why Trump will beat divided Europe and weak Britain over Greenland

Britain and Europe appear hopelessly weak in the face of Donald Trump’s threats over Greenland.

European efforts to calm the mercurial US president’s desire for the Arctic island with a joint military mission to the region have backfired.

Mr Trump is now warning that he will hit the UK and its European allies with tariffs unless Denmark sells him Greenland.

John Ivison: MAGA has its sights on Alberta

Steve Bannon is in the ratings business these days, so he can say outrageous things with impunity.

On his influential War Room podcast last week, he talked about Prime Minister Mark Carney’s “kowtowing” visit to China and said: “Let me be blunt, you are playing with fire. You will rue the day you did that. President (Donald) Trump is not just going to let the Chinese Communist Party become an active strategic partner up there. It’s not going to happen.”

Ivison is an Elbow person pass it on.

Canada was a good country.

Now it’s just an ATM for an elite that  seeks to criminalize citizens for simply being.

Spanish train crash caused by ‘gap in track’

Experts investigating the cause of a train crash in Spain that killed 40 people have found a broken joint on the rails.

The tail end of a train heading from Malaga to Madrid derailed at 7.45pm on Sunday, smashing into an oncoming train travelling from the capital to Huelva.

Investigators at the scene identified some wear on the joint between sections of the rail, known as a fishplate, which they said showed the fault had been there for some time, a source briefed on the investigations told Reuters.

Doug Ford bristles over his broken bromance with Mark Carney

Doug Ford is boiling over. Is the bromance over, too?

Our piqued premier says he now knows where he stands with Mark Carney, because the prime minister didn’t stand up for Ontario’s auto sector. The two politicians who regularly sat down together for private breakfasts and dinners to toast their bonhomie have suddenly stopped texting.

The LPC media has turned on Ford for his objection to Carney’s ChiCom EV deal.

Ford is described as fussed, as being bristled, piqued and bemoaning the Two-Faced Carney deal. Every word designed to trivialize genuine concern.

James Fox UFO press conference on Varginha, Brazil case

James Fox UFO press conference on Varginha, Brazil case

Note: Start time is 11 AM

“On January 20, 2026, award-winning investigative filmmaker James Fox (The Phenomenon, Moment of Contact, The Program) will host a landmark UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, bringing together first-hand witnesses, medical experts, government officials, and U.S. insiders to present new evidence related to alleged non-human encounters and crash-retrieval programs.

These speakers will call for expanded whistleblower protections and greater transparency for the public.

This historic briefing aims to bring unprecedented firsthand testimony, medical evidence, and international corroboration to one of the most controversial and consequential issues of our time.”

Personally speaking James Fox has done some great work but I remain skeptical of the Varginha alien crash event for the reason that while multiple witnesses have spoken hard evidence is lacking. We’ll see what new evidence is revealed today.

Five white men eating lunch in Minnesota bullied by surging mob who mistook them for ICE agents

A group of men enjoying lunch at a Minneapolis deli were bullied by a surging mob who mistook them for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, video shows.

Five software engineers had been dining at Clancy’s Deli when anti-ICE protesters gathered outside the restaurant’s front windows and shouted obscenities at them.

‘Get out of our f***ing neighborhood,’ one protester was heard yelling in a clip obtained by Alpha News. Another shouted: ‘If you’re not with us, you’re against us.’

Bill C-15 would allow corporations to be exempt from most Canadian laws

Buried on page 300 of the government’s omnibus budget implementation bill is an extremely troubling clause regarding corporate power in Canada—one that allows all cabinet ministers to exempt any individual or corporation from any federal Canadian law they are responsible for (with the exception of the Criminal Code). These exemptions just have to be justified as being “in the public interest” and “encourag[ing] innovation, competitiveness or economic growth,” concepts so vague that they could be invoked for virtually any law.

In theory, this new provision applies equally to all individuals and corporations, but history tells us that large corporations have disproportionate access to government officials and are able to get their way. The broad nature of this new provision means that corporations could be able to avoid everything from environmental regulations to conflict of interest laws, so long as they have a single minister on board.
