Justice Department Still Withholding Files From Probe Into Nova Scotia Mass Shooting

The federal Justice Department says it has turned over a further 17 pages of RCMP investigative files to the public inquiry into the April, 2020, mass killing of 22 people in Nova Scotia.

Department spokesman Ian McLeod said another three pages have been withheld as lawyers determine if they should be disclosed to the Mass Casualty Commission [MCC], which is investigating the worst mass shooting in Canadian history.

According to an article from Canada’s National Post, foreign donations to the Pierre Trudeau Foundation began to skyrocket after Justin Trudeau became prime minister in 2015.

Bomb Threats Across Austria As Islamist Hate Preacher Trial Begins

A total of five bomb threats were reported targeting several cities across Austria on Monday as the trial for an Islamic hate preacher began in Vienna, with claims the threats were the actions of a jihadi cell.

The bomb threats, which came from an anonymous google mail account, were sent to courts across the country in Vienna, Graz and St. Pölten, to the Jewish Community of Vienna (Israelitische Kultusgemeinde Wien) and to a magistrate in the Austrian capital.

Pity the Bard of Avon. William Shakespeare has long been the subject of conspiracy theories, including some emanating from the Muslim world. Libyan dictator Moammar Qaddafi claimed in 1989 that Shakespeare was an Arab whose real name was “Sheikh Zabir.” Turkish conspiracy theorist Kadir Mısıroğlu made news in 2016 by claiming that “Shakespeare was not English and his original name is ‘Sheikh Pir.’ Even more, he was a secret Muslim.”

The latest salvo from the grassy knoll of literary criticism came last month from TRT World — an Ankara-based Islamist outlet controlled by Turkish strongman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s Justice and Development Party (AKP) — in an article by Nadia Khan declaring absurdly that “there would have been no Shakespeare were it not for Islam.”

Al-Husseina Amadou never forgets the day she was sold. Like her parents, she was born into slavery in southern Niger. Forty-five years ago, when she was 15, a wealthy businessman from across the border in Nigeria arrived and bought her from her family’s master as a “fifth wife” or wahaya.

“My parents had no say,” she recalls. “I was just a girl and he bought me like a chicken in the market. When I left with him, I was crying with my mother.”

For 15 years Amadou lived with her “husband” in northern Nigeria, cooking and cleaning for his four “official” wives, whom he had married in accordance with Islamic law, and their children, while also working in their fields and tending their livestock.

Alex Drueke and Andy Huynh are two former American military members now in Russian custody, captured by the Russians in Ukraine, where they were fighting for the Ukrainian government. What is going to happen to them?

The most likely thing is that both men will eventually be traded to the US in return for captured Russians. Prisoners are very valuable and rarely wasted in executions unless those carry much more value than the prisoners held by the other side. The deal may be public or secret, and the US can expect to pay a premium. Israel usually releases ten or more Palestinian prisoners in exchange for one of its captured troops.

Media outlets wait for August court decision on Coutts, Alta. warrant details

A decision on whether or not media outlets can obtain and publish information in a redacted version of four Coutts, Alta., blockade search warrants is scheduled for Aug. 26.

Thirteen people were arrested and charged with various weapons and mischief offences after an RCMP raid revealed a cache of weapons, ammunition and body armour near the Coutts border blockade site on Feb. 14. Christopher Lysak, Anthony Olienick, Jerry Mitchell Morin and Chris Carbert are also each charged with conspiracy to commit murder against RCMP officers.

Voters for every single party lent majority support to the idea that “Canada should use its natural resources to reduce energy costs for Canadians” — basically, that we should pump as much oil as possible to bring down fuel costs. The “keep it in the ground” camp, meanwhile, only managed 35 per cent support.

2nd RCMP staffer suggests commissioner under political pressure after N.S. mass shooting

… Lia Scanlan, former communications director for the Nova Scotia RCMP, wrote in a scathing email to Lucki that during the April 28, 2020, meeting she attended with the commissioner and senior Nova Scotia officers, Lucki informed the group of “the pressures and conversation with [then public safety] minister Blair,” which the group clearly understood was related to upcoming gun control legislation.

“I remember a feeling of disgust as I realized this was the catalyst for the conversation,” Scanlan said in her email dated April 14, 2021, about a year after the shooting.

“I could not believe what you, the leader of our organization, was saying and I was embarrassed to be privy to what was unfolding. It was appalling, unprofessional and extremely belittling.”

I think anyone arrested by the RCMP should consider themselves captives of a private mercenary army.
