Canada could be hit hardest by U.S. political upheaval, report warns

A new global risk assessment is warning that no country would be more “profoundly affected” by a political upheaval in the U.S. than Canada.

Published Monday, the Eurasia Group’s “Top Risks For 2026″ report cites deep economic, security and geographic ties that leave Canada especially exposed to instability south of the border.

Eurasia Group, a political risk consultancy, identifies what it calls a potential U.S. “political revolution” – driven by U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to consolidate power, “capture the machinery of government, and weaponize it against his enemies” – as the most significant threats to global stability this year.

Carney’s wife worked at Eurasia as does Butts.  I’m sure they are well hedged against any anticipated market downturn this report may cause.

Star Wars star Mark Hamill, for instance, called the incident “sickening” and exclaimed that “This is not law enforcement. This is murder.”

Macron says Canada ’51st state’ threats an example of U.S. rejecting allies

French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday cited U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to make Canada the “51st state” as an example of American foreign policy that is sacrificing allies for “the law of the strongest.”

Macron’s blunt remarks were matched by similar comments from German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in a separate speech that showed European leaders’ growing concern as Trump seeks to impose U.S. dominance over the Western Hemisphere, including actions in Venezuela and threats of a potential U.S. takeover of Greenland.

Later, a monitoring group reported a nationwide internet blackout.

Doug Ford’s plan to remove Crown Royal from Ontario shelves ‘misinformed,’ Manitoba Conservative MP says

Doug Ford hosts a tasting of other whiskey brands he hopes to boycott and store in his private bar.

A federal Conservative member of Parliament from Manitoba says Ontario Premier Doug Ford didn’t have “all the facts in front of him” when he doubled down on threats to pull Crown Royal off shelves.

MP James Bezan, who represents the Selkirk-Interlake-Eastman riding north of Winnipeg, where the whisky is distilled, said Thursday he spoke with Ford on the matter after the premier once again said he would remove Crown Royal from Liquor Control Board of Ontario listings.

“I had to present some of those facts that Crown Royal is proudly made-in-Manitoba whisky. It’s Canada’s number 1 export spirit,” Bezan said.

Here’s who’s really behind the Minneapolis ICE resistance movement

Radical leftist groups, including one financed with $7.8 million from progressive billionaire George Soros, are behind the anti-ICE protests in Minnesota, The Post has learned.

Indivisible Twin Cities, which describes itself as a grassroots group of volunteers, has led many of the protests against ICE raids in Minnesota, where Renee Macklin Good was shot dead Wednesday after allegedly trying to mow down an ICE agent with her vehicle.

Indivisible is an offshoot of the Indivisible Project in Washington DC, which bills itself as a movement to defeat the “Trump agenda,” and received $7,850,000 from Soros’ Open Society Foundations between 2018 and 2023, according to public records.

OTTAWA — They’re doing the best they can with the tools they’re provided.

That was the message Thursday from Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw, as he and Toronto Police Service Board Shelley Carroll responded to last week’s letter from Ontario Solicitor General Michael Kerzner demanding police do more to crack down on increasingly hateful anti-Israel protests in the city.

Here’s How Many Vehicle Rammings Incidents ICE Has Faced in the Last Year

When Leftist Renee Good hit an ICE agent in Minneapolis yesterday, it wasn’t the first time ICE agents were the targets of vehicle rammings. Cars are deadly weapons, and there’s plenty of legal precedent to justify the ICE agent shooting Good after she struck him with her vehicle.

Ontario Premier Ford asks Carney not to cut tariffs on China EVs

Ontario Premier Doug Ford, whose province is home to much of Canada’s auto industry, is warning the Prime Minister against reducing the 100-per-cent tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles during Mark Carney’s trip to Beijing next week.

He said China should instead set up EV factories in Ontario. A Chinese EV-maker opened an electric-bus assembly plant in Newmarket, Ont., in 2019, for instance.

Greenlanders use Trump threats to push for independence from Denmark

Cranky Greenlanders

Greenlanders are using Donald Trump’s threats to take the world’s biggest island by force to push for independence from Denmark.

The Arctic territory’s main opposition party has described the current situation a “window of opportunity”, claiming that Mr Trump’s renewed push to acquire Greenland could help accelerate a breakaway.

Juno Berthelsen, an MP and foreign policy spokesman for the leading opposition party Naleraq, said: “We’ve been seeking independence for many years now, and there’s a window of opportunity here for us, where we could actually go into a dialogue about concrete steps we can take to better Greenlandic people’s lives.”

Geoff Russ: Immigration made affordability worse. Liberals gaslighted us all

Did the Liberal government lie about the effects of mass immigration, or simply get it wrong? It is almost certainly a heady mix of both. Canadians were told not to notice what was happening right in front of them, and they have every reason to be angry about the impact it had on their lives, most notably on affordability or the sudden emergence of shady “career” colleges in strip malls.

Preacher at Maccabi ban mosque said men can physically discipline wives

A preacher at a mosque consulted by police ahead of an Israeli football fan ban said that men can physically discipline their wives and that wives should not leave the house without permission from their husband.

During the sermon shortly before Christmas a preacher at Green Lane mosque in Birmingham said that husbands could resort to discipline as a “last resort” if wives were rebellious, and that men had a right to expect obedience.

Revealed: The letters that undermine police claims about Maccabi fan ban

A chief constable faces renewed calls to resign over the banning of Israeli football fans after letters from Dutch officials emerged, accusing him of talking “nonsense” over his justification for the ban.

Craig Guildford claimed West Midlands Police recommended banning Maccabi Tel Aviv fans from the match in Birmingham after receiving intelligence from Amsterdam about their behaviour at a previous game.
