Bob Dole is dead

Bob Dole tried and failed to reach the White House several times, but he leaves a powerful legacy as a war hero and senator who served the United States with honor, sacrifice, and humor.

Dole was born in Russell, Kansas, in 1923. He was a star basketball player in his youth and served in the Army in World War II. He was grievously wounded in combat in Italy in 1945, hit by a German shell in the upper back and right arm and not expected to recover. But he did, through grit and determination, though he permanently lost the use of his right arm. He would forevermore shake hands with his left, something he learned to do so as not to make the people he met uncomfortable.

Why Looting Turned San Francisco Into A Ghost Town

Usually at this time of year, San Francisco’s luxury stores are decked with holiday garlands. Instead, they’re boarded up after widespread “flash mob” looting turned Union Square — the city’s most fashionable shopping district — into an area resembling a blighted neighborhood in Detroit.

“It’s a ghost town,” said Michelle Tandler, a San Francisco native and high-tech entrepreneur, whose photos of the stores barricaded in plywood went viral on social media this week. “Every store has a security guard. People are going to lose their jobs. And these things have a ripple effect.”

Two weeks ago, San Francisco was the first of several progressive cities hit by smash-and-grab mobs of thieves, sometimes as many as 80 in a group. Video from the San Francisco looting of Louis Vuitton shows criminals walking casually out of the store, goods in hand. Other cities hit include Los Angeles, Chicago and Minneapolis.

I encourage you to read Michelle Tandler’s Twitter posts. SF is even more fecked than we know. She’s a self described “moderate liberal” but not for long I suspect.

Do read her notes.

Afghan Junkies drugging dogs with heroin to be their snuggle buddies

Heroin dogs of Kabul: Shocking photos show homeless Afghan men giving Class A drug to stray mutts so that they stick with them to keep them warm during bitter winter

It’s not uncommon to see men smoking heroin between the blast walls near Shahr-e Naw Wedding Hall in southwest Kabul. Opioid use is prolific in the Afghan capital, despite the Taliban pledging to ban the production of drugs and tackle narcotics addiction under their rule.

But what may be more surprising to those passing through the area is the disturbing sight of heroin being fed to the stray dogs that roam the area.

Ahmad (not his real name) has been smoking heroin for several years, feeding his addiction through a mixture of stealing, begging and collecting plastic bottles for recycling. A mixed-breed stray dog, likely born on the streets of Kabul, lies nearby. Ahmad places a plastic bottle tight over the dog’s nose and blows heroin smoke through the open top. After a few ‘hits’ the subdued dog stands and stares.

Poor dogs.

Lawyers for Crumbley parents claim gun was ‘locked’ up; accuse prosecutor of creating media ‘spectacle’

Two lawyers representing the parents of Ethan Crumbley, the suspected Michigan high school shooter, said on Saturday that the handgun the teen allegedly used to kill and wound fellow students last week was actually “locked” up, contrary to earlier reporting.

Oakland County prosecutor Karen McDonald said earlier in the week that 45-year-old James Crumbley bought the handgun — a 9mm Sig Sauer — at a local firearms store on Nov. 26. She noted further that 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley was able to “freely” gain access to the pistol before he allegedly used it to shoot students at Oxford High School.

GUNTER: Global Affairs Canada’s $3 million tribute to itself

Global Affairs Canada is going to spend $3 million tax dollars on a tribute to itself. I kid you not.

There is already a striking monument to fallen diplomats on an Ottawa parkway near the Champlain Bridge. Instead, the proposed one would “pay tribute to former and current employees and their families and friends who have supported them in their careers.”

Justin should ask Xi to pay for this.

Ombud says veterans struggling needlessly as Ottawa ignores her recommendations

OTTAWA — The veterans’ ombud says many ill and injured ex-soldiers and their families are needlessly fighting for access to federal support and services because the government is refusing to act on a growing number of recommendations from her office.

In an interview with The Canadian Press, Nishika Jardine noted her office’s mandate is to identify systemic barriers and unfairness in how veterans are treated, and put forward solutions on how those problems can be fixed.

The veterans should self-identify as transgender refugees. That’ll get the Liberals attention.

Sexual misconduct allegation leveled against fired CNN anchor Chris Cuomo

A former co-worker of Chris Cuomo made a sexual misconduct allegation against the former CNN anchor, who was fired Saturday for misleading the cable network about the extent of the role he played trying to mitigate the sexual harassment accusations that took down his brother, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

A well known employment lawyer who represents the accuser contacted CNN Wednesday to tell them of the allegation, according to The New York Times.

The disclosure came as an outside law firm was probing new documents released by by New York’s top prosecutor Monday that suggested the younger Cuomo was more involved trying to control damage to his brother’s political career than he previously said.

Ontario reports 1,184 new Covid cases … and CBC floats a Vaccine Mandate trial balloon

Ontario reports 1,184 new Covid cases … and CBC floats a Vaccine Mandate trial balloon

Ontario reports highest single-day COVID-19 case count in more than 6 months

The province of Ontario is reporting its highest single-day total of new COVID-19 cases in more than six months.

Health officials reported 1,184 new infections on Sunday, the third consecutive day the case count has topped 1,000.

It’s the highest single-day total of new cases since May 28 when 1,273 were reported.

Would national vaccine mandates work in Canada? Experts aren’t sure

With European states turning to mandatory national vaccination regimes to deal with record COVID-19 infections, experts in Canada say that while science and the law may back the Liberal government if it chose to follow suit, it might not be the panacea the public is hoping for.

There are significant challenges to imposing a national mandatory vaccination program for all Canadians, the first of which is the age-old jurisdictional battle between the federal government and the provinces.

Under the Constitution, the provinces are responsible for delivering health care, and a vaccine mandate would fall under that remit. If the federal government wanted to take over that responsibility, it would have to either use the Emergencies Act or pass legislation giving it the authority to act.

This smells of the CBC floating a national vax mandate trial balloon on behalf of the Liberal Party.

Rand Paul on Fauci: Live Your Life, Ignore This Man — ‘Let’s Hope He Can Be Gone as Soon as Possible’

It is not a secret that Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) does not think very highly of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci.

However, while Paul continues to have doubts about Fauci’s insights and advice, he urged viewers of FNC’s “Hannity” to ignore Fauci on Friday.

“Virtually none of the edicts or the promulgations that come from Fauci’s mouth are based in science at all,” he said. “Take the idea that we’re now going to test the day of travel. The rapid test is accurate about between 30 and 50% if you don’t have symptoms. So most people traveling, if they know they’re sick, are going to not travel. So, most of the people we’re talking about are traveling are without symptoms. The test is 30 to 50% accurate. The Omicron variant is already across the United States and across the world. No travel ban is going to stop it, and no amount of testing is going to stop it.”

Well, chances are, you were right. According to the results of an epic Pew Study, the majority of leftist women have mental issues. That’s right; over 50% of leftist women are actually insane.
