André Pratte: Quebec’s ‘Bill 101 on steroids’ goes too far

Next week, members of the Québec National Assembly’s Culture and Education Committee will resume their arduous clause-by-clause study of Bill 96, a legislative piece that seeks to modernize Bill 101, the French Language Charter. Few among the media will follow their work, but that does not make it less important. Indeed, if adopted as is, the bill will considerably strengthen the provincial government’s powers on language issues. This should be cause for concern.

New Racialist Soros DA in NYC Makes Crimes Legal, Promises No Bail

Soros-funded Alvin Bragg (D) won overwhelmingly in New York City. To say he is soft on crime would be an understatement.

Bragg ran a campaign on a platform of a no-bail agenda and an end to prosecutions for what he calls “minor offenses” such as marijuana misdemeanors, turnstile jumping, trespassing, driving with a suspended license, prostitution (which furthers trafficking), resisting arrest for non-criminal offenses, and obstructing the work of the New York City Police Department.

CBC News article on illegal B.C. LNG pipeline protests full of bias and guesswork

A CBC News article on the illegal pipeline protests and blockades dogging the Coastal GasLink LNG pipeline in British Columbia is full of inaccuracies and left-wing bias.

The article, presented as an explainer on how the illegal blockades allegedly help keep “emissions in the ground,” is not based on scientific fact, but rather is full of baseless environmentalist guesswork.

N.B. COVID-19 roundup: Winter plan goes into effect Saturday night, 2 deaths, 97 new cases

The New Brunswick government released its Winter Action Plan for COVID-19 on Friday, as it confirmed two more COVID-related deaths and 97 new cases.

In the face of a “very concerning” rise in infections over the past two weeks and a disproportionate number of cases among the unvaccinated, Health Minister Dorothy Shephard said the three-level plan with new restrictions will take effect Saturday at 11:59 p.m.

Canadian airports warn of ‘chaos’ amid new COVID-19 testing rules

Canada’s plan to require novel coronavirus tests for all but U.S. arrivals on international flights risks causing “chaos” and long lines if all passengers are expected to get tested at airports, industry groups said.

CBC’s “Being Black in Canada” series is straight out of an Orwell novel

CBC loves dividing Canadians up by our race and pitting us against one another. There were two glaring examples this week from CBC’s Being Black series.

First, they published a story about the words CBC would like banned from the English Language because they sound like other words that could be racist.

Second, they published a story about how great it is to work from home because Black employees don’t have to deal with “microaggressions” from well-meaning but racist Canadians.

CDC Revises Rules for All U.S. Arrivals to Protect Against Omicron

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is revising the current Global Testing Order to shorten the timeline for required testing for all international air travelers to one day before departure to the United States. This revision strengthens already robust protocols in place for international travel, including requirements for foreign travelers to be fully vaccinated.

The great Islamophobia con

So now it’s racist to criticise ISIS? In its latest report on the British media’s coverage of Islam and Muslims, the Muslim Council of Britain describes me as ‘Islamophobic’. What racist speechcrime did I commit in the eyes of these self-elected spokespeople for the UK’s Muslim community? I once wondered out loud, on TV no less, why we are very quick to describe white-nationalist terrorists as neo-fascists – quite rightly – but less quick to use that f-word in relation to ISIS. ‘[It] is very rare’, I said on Sky News, ‘that you hear the word fascism used in relation to Islamist extremists’. This struck me as odd, given that Islamist extremists are hyper-violent and alarmingly regressive and are currently ‘a greater threat to our society’ than white-nationalist nutters are.

Yom HaGirush: The Inside Story of ‘Expulsion Day’

The largely forgotten ethnic cleansing, almost unparalleled in the history of human rights abuses.

Today, we speak of a largely forgotten ethnic cleansing largely unparalleled in the history of humanitarian abuses. Recall the coordinated international expulsion of some 850,000 Jews from Arab and Muslim lands, where they had lived peaceably for as long as 27 centuries. As some know, in 2014, the Israeli government set aside November 30 as a commemoration of this mass atrocity. It has had no real identity or name like “Kristallnacht.” But today, from this day forward, the day will be known as Yom HaGirush: “Expulsion Day.”

The PC ‘war on Christmas’ is no right-wing myth

From the EU to the Cabinet Office, our elites really are uneasy about the C-word.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without news reports that some institution has ‘banned Christmas’, or eschewed any mention of it, for fear of offending non-believers and ethnic minorities. So, right on cue, a headline in the Mail on Sunday read: ‘Now Whitehall’s woke “blob” tries to ban Christmas: Ministers are warned using the word in festive jab drive will offend minorities.’

It wouldn’t be Christmas, either, without the haughty retort that stories of ‘Christmas being banned’ are typical right-wing nonsense, invariably peddled by the Daily Mail. In response to the Mail report, the HuffPost said that any attempts to ban the C-word were undertaken by the Cabinet Office, and not the ‘woke’ civil service, as the Mail had claimed. ‘Versions of this story traditionally come around every Christmas’, sighed the HuffPost, ‘but this year it manages to shoehorn in the term “woke”

‘He Confessed.’ Actor Adam Baldwin’s Blistering Takedown of ‘Preening’ Alec Baldwin’s CYA ABC Interview

Actor Adam Baldwin is unsparing in his assessment of how fellow actor Alec Baldwin (no relation) shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a vintage gun on the set of his latest movie. And Alec Baldwin made it worse in his damage-control interview with ABC News this week when he blamed his victim for directing him to shoot her.

Pope Francis says stupid stuff about migrants and populism

Pope Francis has used a trip to Greece to hit out at Europe for the divisions it has exhibited over migration while also warning against the perils of populism.

In Athens, on the second leg of a Mediterranean tour that has highlighted the plight of migrants and refugees, the pontiff also expressed concern over democracy’s retreat globally. Greece has long been on the frontline of the refugee crisis.

“The European community, torn by nationalist self-interest, rather than being the engine of solidarity, appears at times blocked and uncoordinated,” he said in an address at Greece’s presidential palace on Saturday.

“In the past ideological conflicts prevented the building of bridges between eastern and western Europe; today the issue of migration has led to breaches between south and north as well.”

Frankie’s scolding shows he is just another out of touch member of the well insulated elite that doesn’t have to personally deal with the consequences of his screeds.
