The higher administrative court of Saxony overturned the decision of an administrative court of Chemnitz which had authorized this violent poster campaign, less than two weeks before the legislative elections, on condition that the posters of the small group ” IIIe Voie ” be stuck to more than 100 meters from those of the Greens.

Germany: parking row brews as Green mayor plans to increase fees by 600%

The mayor of the southern German city of Tübingen has attracted praise and scorn alike for a new plan to increase parking fees by 600% in an effort to discourage cars – especially large ones – from the city.

Boris Palmer, a member of the Greens party, has won initial support for his proposal, which would see the annual parking fee for SUVs rise from 30 euros to 180.

Palmer had originally pushed for a fee of 360 euros, but did not secure sufficient backing from city officials in the climate committee.

About 172 staff members at Windsor, Ont., hospitals have been suspended without pay for not getting their COVID-19 shots by the deadlines set out by their employers.

Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) and Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare (HDGH) both have policies mandating that as of Wednesday, Sept. 22, all staff and physicians must have had at least one dose of the vaccine to continue working unless an approved exemption is provided.

New study finds internet freedom is rapidly declining worldwide

Internet freedom has declined for the 11th consecutive year globally, according to an annual report released this week.

The study from Washington-based democracy watchdog organization Freedom House analyzed 70 countries that account for 88 percent of internet users worldwide and measured indicators such as accessibility and content. Both a lack of internet regulation and excessive restraints to online material contributed to this year’s decline, the group said.
