Amid images of helicopters evacuating key United States personnel from Afghanistan’s capital city, Kabul, and news that the Taliban is moving into the city following Afghan president Ashraf Ghani swift evacuation Sunday, Biden administration Secretary of State Antony Blinken appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” and ABC’s “This Week” to defend President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from Afghanistan in such a swift and seemingly unorganized manner.

Earlier, a video emerged on social media allegedly showing Taliban* militants flying in a helicopter that the group had seized from retreating government forces. The insurgent group’s fighters also repeatedly reported capturing small arms and armoured vehicles supplied by the US to Afghanistan.
Some of the military vehicles previously operated by the Afghan Air Force stationed at Kandahar Airport have apparently ended up in the hands of the Taliban* after the terrorist group seized an airbase earlier this week.

There is a theory, recently expounded by Reuters Ottawa correspondent David Ljunggren, that the weakness of Justin Trudeau’s political opponents might actually work against him.

Its agenda helps to ensure continued aggression against the Jewish State; fuels violence by Hamas and other terrorist groups; feeds the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement; encourages distorted condemnation of Israel by human rights groups and international bodies; and provides material to be exploited by activist university professors and students.
All of this not only seriously harms the reputation of the State of Israel and stimulates antisemitism around the world, it also worsens the suffering of Palestinians by uncritical coverage of the leadership that is responsible for their plight.

Justin Trudeau calls a federal election for Sept. 20
OTTAWA—Prime Minister Justin Trudeau plunged Canada into a federal election campaign on Sunday after Gov. Gen. Mary Simon agreed to dissolve Parliament and set voting day for Sept. 20.
The official start of the 36-day summertime campaign ends weeks of speculation about whether Trudeau would pull the plug on the 43rd parliament he called “dysfunctional” while claiming he did not want an election until Canada got through the COVID-19 pandemic that is now seeing a fourth wave of infections.
This has gone on for decades in Britain, while authorities did nothing, cowering in fear of being labeled “Islamophobic.” And now it has come to Canada, where it will likely flourish for the same reason.

Ont. reports more than 500 new COVID-19 cases for 4th consecutive day, no new deaths
Ontario is reporting more than 500 new COVID-19 cases for the fourth consecutive day, driving the rolling seven-day average of new cases to 440 today.
Ontario is reporting 511 new COVID-19 cases today, down from 578 on Saturday but up from 423 last week.

KABUL, Aug 15 (Reuters) – Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has left the capital Kabul for Tajikistan, a senior Afghan Interior Ministry official said on Sunday.
Asked for comment, the president’s office said it “cannot say anything about Ashraf Ghani’s movement for security reasons”.
A representative of the Taliban, which entered the capital Kabul earlier on Sunday, said the group was checking on Ghani’s whereabouts.
