Why Cops Are Quitting

Police officers no longer feel that they have the public’s support.

In the past year, city police departments across the country have reported a dramatic drop in manpower, as cops retire, resign, or leave for the suburbs. The NYPD’s headcount fell to its lowest level in ten years. In Chicago, police retirements rose 15 percent. The San Francisco Police Department is short 400 officers; over 115 officers, including an entire unit dedicated to crowd control, have left the Portland PD; and nearly 200 have left the Minneapolis PD or are on leave, rendering the department unable to engage in proactive policing. A recent survey of police departments found that hiring fell an average of 5 percent in 2020, while resignations rose 18 percent and retirements a whopping 45 percent.

Corporations should serve their customers, not woke politicians

Let’s not pretend that Coca-Cola and Nike own the moral high ground

Those who live in corporate glass towers should not throw stones.

Far too many C-suite executives have yet to learn the lesson of that paraphrased proverb. Some of America’s largest corporations are engaging in woke politics in an attempt to divert attention away from mistreatment of their customers, serious business problems, and significant evidence they’ve exploited foreign labor.

Greens discuss revoking leader Annamie Paul’s membership

She could pull this off, what’s left of the Green Party seems especially stupid.

Already facing a challenge to her leadership, Green Party Leader Annamie Paul also now faces the prospect of losing her party membership.

Several sources told CBC News that the party’s federal council discussed reviewing Annamie Paul’s membership during a meeting late Tuesday night. The sources said they could not confirm whether a formal review has been initiated, as the Toronto Star first reported.

It’s not clear what revoking Paul’s membership would mean for the status of her leadership. According to the party’s rules, the leader must be a member in good standing.

Why Haiti’s president was assassinated

A group of gunmen stormed Jovenel Moïse’s home and shot him 12 times

There was a time when Haiti was at the center of the New World. It was one of the richest islands on the globe, producing cane sugar for the sweet tooth of Europe. It cultivated coffee, cotton and rice, and it produced rum. The Pearl of the Antilles, the island stood at the gateway to all the resources of South and Central America. Mexico, with all its gold, lay just beyond Haiti’s northernmost cape. Great powers of the era — France, Britain, Germany, and the United States — vied for political and military control.

Now Haiti is a failed state.

Kelly McParland: Indigenous Canada remains unreconciled, and not just with the rest of the country

Judging by recent events, six years of Liberal attempts at reconciliation have left Canada’s Indigenous people decidedly unreconciled.

It’s hard to get a firm grasp on the situation, given that the Indigenous “community” is really a diverse, scattered and disparate collection of communities and organizations spread across a vast and varying expanse of geographical and political landscapes.

James Carville Hits ‘Noisy Identity Left’: ‘They’re Not Winning Elections’ and Are Too Interested ‘In Somebody Else’s Pronoun’

James Carville said on Tuesday night that Democrats pay a hefty political price for the actions of 15% of the Democratic Party.

“We did lose traction with Black voters and Hispanic voters,” the political strategist told Chris Cuomo about the 2020 election. “And I think part of that is that we got identified by the ‘defund the police’ and the language police.”

It is much larger than 15%.
