Meet the DEI Judge Who Set the Chicago Subway Arsonist Free

Last week, Bethany MaGee, 26, did what countless other women in Chicago do: she got on the CTA’s Blue Line to travel across the city. Unfortunately, so did Lawrence Reed, a 50-year-old career criminal with at least 72 prior arrests. Initial reports said Reed was arrested 22 times, then 49 times. Regardless, he should not have been free to roam the streets of Chicago, and now an innocent woman is in the hospital fighting for her life.

Jamie Sarkonak: He was killed by Sikh extremists for serving Canada, and a tax-funded film is celebrating it

If you can find a way to watch the recently released Khalistani propaganda film Guru Nanak Jahaz, you might as well watch it. You paid for it, after all.

The film, which depicts the assassination of a Canadian civil servant by a Sikh terrorist as a heroic act of justice, has a “Funded by the Government of Canada” credit at the end. It was also supported by the B.C. government and gives special thanks to Conservative MP Tim Uppal and Liberal MP Sukh Dhaliwal. While the Liberals didn’t return a request for comment, a spokesperson for Uppal told me that he was not involved in the film and that the filmmakers did not communicate with him about the credit at any point.

Ontario’s legal cannabis stores are closing — because illegal shops allowed to thrive

When Canada legalized recreational cannabis in 2018, Ontario made a promise — to consumers, to communities, and to small business owners who invested their lives and savings into the new sector. That promise was simple: the government would regulate the market, enforce the law, and replace the illegal cannabis trade with a safe, transparent, and accountable system.

TDS Now Resembles Orwell’s ‘Two Minutes Hate’

Some complain that “Orwellian” has become the most overused phrase in current political discourse, but I beg to disagree. Although George Orwell succumbed to tuberculosis — and perhaps political despair — at the age of 46, some 75 years ago, his characterizations of our political condition have never been more apposite — and more chilling.

Incarceration Works

Sergio Hyland seemed like the perfect advocate. Calling himself a “fierce, relentless, implacable abolitionist,” determined to end incarceration in the United States, Hyland had spent more than two decades behind bars before joining Pennsylvania’s Working Families Party as an anti-prison organizer. His criminal record only burnished his credentials: he had pled guilty to the 2001 killing of a 15-year-old and was later charged in connection with another homicide in 2002. Once he got out of prison in 2022, Hyland launched a website offering “speaking engagements” and “harm/de-escalation tactics” training, and he frequently appeared alongside Philadelphia’s progressive prosecutor, Larry Krasner. The two even shared a news release in April 2025 announcing the Working Families Party’s endorsement of Krasner, which the prosecutor was “honored to accept.” A week later, Hyland was arrested for murdering a 30-year-old mother of two. Police discovered a stockpile of illegal guns in his home. Now Krasner’s office will have to prosecute him.

Vancouver’s Drug User Liberation Front organizers challenging Canada’s drug laws

The two organizers of an illicit-drug compassion club in Vancouver, convicted this month of trafficking for providing members with heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine, are back in court challenging Canada’s drug laws as unconstitutional for depriving users of safer options.

Jeremy Kalicum and Eris Nyx operated for more than a year as the Drug User Liberation Front, buying illicit drugs from the dark web, testing them at university labs for fentanyl and other impurities, and selling them at cost to their 43 members.

Extremist Persecution: The Rest of Us Come Next

Muslims block Toronto street in worship of satanic cult idol

A small reminder: Jews were expelled from England during the decade of 1290; from France in the 1390s; from Spain in the 1490s; from Sicily in the late 1400s; from Portugal in the 1500s; Ukraine in the 1640s; Russia in the 1880s; Germany in the 1930s; and various Arab countries in the 1940s to 1960s.

Now, in the decade of 2020, when “Statistical data shows the doubling and trebling of anti-Semitic incidents on America’s streets,” where are Jews to go? The only place that welcomes them with open arms is their ancestral home of Israel. Jews from anywhere in the world now have the absolute right of return to Israel, at state expense.

State sponsored terror: Fraud schemes sent Minn. tax dollars to Somali ‘Qaeda’ group

Minnesota is drowning in fraud. Billions in taxpayer dollars have been stolen during the administration of Gov. Tim Walz alone. Democratic state officials, overseeing one of the most generous welfare regimes in the country, are asleep at the switch. And the media, duty-bound by progressive pieties, refuse to connect the dots.

In many cases, the fraud has allegedly been perpetrated by members of Minnesota’s sizeable Somali community. Federal counterterrorism sources confirm that millions of dollars in stolen funds have been sent back to Somalia, where they ultimately landed in the hands of the al Qaeda-linked terrorist group Al-Shabab.

Ford government says it will require defendants to pay cash security deposits before they are released

The Ontario government says it will require defendants to pay cash security deposits before they are released from custody as part of a bill aimed at “tightening” bail requirements.

In a news release issued Monday morning, Attorney General Doug Downey said the current bail system is “broken” and that the bill will introduce repercussions for offenders.

“That’s why our government is advancing a comprehensive tough on crime bail strategy that will strengthen the rules, reinforce compliance, and keep violent and repeat offenders off the street,” Downey said at a news conference announcing the proposed change.

Fire that destroyed Toronto’s historic St. Anne’s church now suspected to be arson

St. Anne’s Anglican Church

The fire that destroyed a historic Toronto church last year and more than a dozen murals by the Group of Seven is now being treated as suspected arson, Toronto police said Monday.

The 117-year-old St. Anne’s Anglican Church in Little Portugal burned in June 2024, leaving only the church’s brick walls and the charred skeleton of its domed roof behind. Days after the fire, Toronto police said the fire was not being investigated as arson, but in a meeting after St. Anne’s worship service on Sunday, Toronto detective Patrick Stewart informed the congregation of the change.

ARSON? That’s a grave charge.

Trump has called Europe’s bluff

The bureaucrats had no strategy

The 28-point plan the White House negotiated with the Kremlin is not a done deal. It’s not even close. It is a blueprint, no more, no less. In any case, Trump is an unpredictable player — he could back out at any moment. But this time, I don’t think he will.

The plan, first circulated on a Telegram channel, is clearly not a great one for Ukraine. But, equally, it isn’t a “capitulation” and those who have described it as such don’t really want a deal. Ukraine will be able to improve on it. But, admittedly, not by much. “You don’t have the cards,” Trump once told Zelensky. Unfortunately, after the recent corruption scandal, his hand is weaker than ever.
