Saskatchewan government apologizes for photo of same-sex couple on World AIDS Day

The Saskatchewan government is apologizing for using a photo of two men to promote World AIDS Day.

The government posted the picture showing the men standing side by side with their heads touching on social media on Tuesday.

An accompanying message said HIV infections were on the rise in Saskatchewan and encouraged people to get tested.

Social media users condemned the government’s use of a same-sex couple to talk about HIV as perpetuating the myth of AIDS being a “gay disease.”

Rob Reiner: ‘Survival of Our Democracy’ Depends on Trump Family Being Prosecuted

Far-left Hollywood director Rob Reiner has warned that the very survival of American democracy depends on whether members of President Donald Trump’s family and administration face criminal prosecution.

Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Others Blast Obama For Coming Out Against ‘Defund The Police’ Slogan

Democratic members of the “Squad” in the House of Representatives slammed former President Barack Obama for coming out against the “defund the police” slogan in an interview that aired partially Tuesday night.

Opinion: How does the left not realize that Trump is using the playbook they wrote?

With few exceptions, every time I see a clip from CNN, I become convinced that one of the top qualifications for working at the network has to be a psychological incapacity for any self-awareness whatsoever.

Why Canada must confront the rise of digital authoritarianism

Authoritarian governments around the world are using emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to expand their reach and undermine human rights. The term “digital authoritarianism” has unfortunately now entered our lexicon.

In a recent policy brief, “Exporting digital authoritarianism: The Russian and Chinese models,” Alina Polyakova and Chris Meserole of the Brookings Institution define digital authoritarianism as “the use of digital information technology by authoritarian regimes to surveil, repress, and manipulate domestic and foreign populations.”

Calgary’s COVID hotel and the quarantine law that lets Theresa Tam take your private property

Rebel News reporter, Keean Bexte, has been flying across Canada to locate federal government coronavirus quarantine facilities.

We know they exist. The federal government published a Request For Information (RFI) on the government procurement website asking for details and interest from the private sector about setting up the facilities.

Bexte found one such camp in Manitoba. The Manitoba Métis Nation that owns the site say they haven’t yet contracted with the federal government, but they are ready to use the site when called upon.

Toronto schools to open classroom windows to combat coronavirus – in winter

Schools in Toronto will be opening up classroom windows throughout the winter as a way to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) sent out a notice to parents last week asking that they prepare their children by sending them to school with extra warm clothes.

“We recognize it is very much a balance between introducing more ventilation at various times during the day and maintaining a comfortable indoor air temperature in (the) classroom,” the TDSB wrote.

Is Bill Barr a bad guy or helpfully spreading disinformation?

Is Bill Barr a bad guy or helpfully spreading disinformation?

When Trump installed Bill Barr as his attorney general, most conservatives thought this was a good thing. Barr was seen as a straight shooter who had come out of retirement to help clean up the Justice Department that Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch had corrupted and that Jeff Sessions had been helpless to repair. In his two years in office, he’s accomplished some excellent things but much less than conservatives had hoped he would. Things went haywire today, though, when Barr said the DOJ has “not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election.” What?!

In the Keira Bell case, the NHS trust had no answers

In the Keira Bell case, the NHS trust had no answers

Yesterday’s High Court judgement, which set strict limits on how far children can consent to puberty-blockers, was not meant to be a verdict on gender-identity treatment, let alone on the transgender movement. As Keira Bell, who brought the case, said: “This judgment is not political, it’s about protecting vulnerable children.”

Nevertheless, the case has political implications.

The Media Stole the 2020 Election Before a Single Vote Was Cast

The Media Stole the 2020 Election Before a Single Vote Was Cast

The media stole the 2020 presidential election, plain and simple. They did it over the course of four years by creating a caricature of Donald Trump and convincing voters that to save the country and the planet, his defeat was imperative.

They persuaded millions of voters that the president who had turned the economy into a job-creating engine, made us energy independent, secured the borders, transformed an activist judiciary, and returned sanity to American foreign policy, was a monster — a racist megalomaniac, an enemy of the environment, a bungling foreign-policy loner, and an anti-science know-nothing.

Do John Cleese’s critics understand comedy?

The Python has always been an anarchist rather than a liberal, like the artform itself

You have to wonder whether the people who are mad at John Cleese are actually aware of who John Cleese is. It started, as these things apparently must, with J. K. Rowling. In September, Cleese signed an open letter protesting the death threats she was getting. In November, he replied to some tweets written in the typically measured and cool tone of trans activism. They accused him of “standing in solidarity with transphobia and discrimination,” or demanded: “Why the fuck can’t you just let people be who they want to be?”

How Will Cable News Survive Without Donald Trump to Kick Around?

With Donald Trump poised to leave the White House one way or another on January 20, cable news nets find themselves in an existential crisis. They have spent the last four years mercilessly bashing the president, accusing him of wild, outrageous, and crazy crimes, creating some of the most inventive conspiracy theories about a president in history. This has resulted in sky-high ratings, allowing them to charge top dollar for advertising.

‘Human experimentation’: Tory MP sponsors e-petition disputing assured coronavirus vaccine safety

Conservative MP Derek Sloan has sponsored a parliamentary e-petition that raises questions about the safety of a future coronavirus vaccine.

It also states that “bypassing proper safety protocols means COVID-19 vaccination is effectively human experimentation.”

His decision to sponsor the e-petition comes despite repeated assurances from both public health and government officials that Health Canada will only approve a vaccine that is rigorously tested and safe to use.
