Poland rail bombing signals Russian escalation against Nato

Thanks to the norms of inter-state combat which have governed much of history, we’ve long been conditioned to think of war and peace in binary terms. But what’s happening on Nato’s east shows us that it is in fact a spectrum, with Poland caught right in the grey zone at its midpoint.

This weekend, for the first time since the Second World War, a deliberate explosion damaged a railway line connecting Warsaw to Lublin in what Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called an “unprecedented act of sabotage”. Although Polish authorities have not yet named a specific culprit, they’re already stating the obvious — that “all traces lead to Russia.” That’s hardly surprising, given that the damaged rail line serves as a key pathway for shipping aid to Ukraine, and Russia has sent recruits to gather intelligence on Polish rail hubs near military bases and to disrupt train services using radio networks in the recent past.

Assuming it was Russia.

Toronto’s young, new male drivers could face premiums of $13,000 a year: Report

Car insurance is expensive for new drivers in Ontario, but drivers who are not only new but also male face a pricier challenge.

A 20-year-old male driver in Toronto with no claims and no driver training could pay as much as $13,418 annually to insure a recent model Honda Civic, according to a report from Rates.ca.

I am curious to find out how much the 3rd World has contributed to this state of affairs.

Cost of Ottawa bureaucracy soars 80% in a decade, CTF demands cuts

Ottawa’s bureaucracy has ballooned in both size and cost over the past decade, with newly released Public Accounts showing taxpayers shelled out $71.4 billion for the federal workforce in 2024-25 — a $6-billion jump from the previous year alone.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation says the numbers prove the system is out of control and is urging Prime Minister Mark Carney to slash the size of the federal administration.

Girls’ Steep Decline In Desire For Marriage Is The Destabilizing Consequence Of Feminization

Young girls used to dream of the day they would don a white dress, clutch a bouquet, and walk down the aisle to wed the love of their life. New data, however, suggests those dreams are scarcer than they were 30 years ago.

A new Pew Research Center analysis of survey data from the University of Michigan found that high schoolers are more reluctant to desire marriage now than they were 30 years ago. Twelfth-grade girls, specifically, are significantly less likely than their male peers to say they want to get married sometime in the future — 61 percent compared to the boys’ 74 percent.

Jeffrey Epstein’s Secret Buddy

His name is Michael Wolff, and he’s been called “the It Boy of New York media.” For decades now (he’s 72), he’s been busy keeping his name out there. But the kind of attention he’s been receiving lately, which has made him more famous than ever – not just in New York, but around the world – isn’t exactly the kind he’s lusted after. As Holly Golightly so wisely observes in Breakfast at Tiffany’s: “There are certain shades of limelight that can wreck a girl’s complexion.”

Canada’s highly skilled immigrants are leaving the fastest: report

At a time when Canada is defending itself in a trade war with the U.S., a new report casts doubt on whether the nation’s immigration policy is able to retain the global talent required to bolster the economy on the home front.

Highly educated and skilled immigrants are the most likely to leave Canada within five years of landing, according to a new report commissioned by the Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC).

In a report released Tuesday titled “The Leaky Bucket 2025,” the ICC found that one-in-five immigrants leave Canada within 25 years of being accepted as permanent residents. The trend, referred to as “onward migration,” peaks at the five-year mark.

Every last one of these of “panic” articles is a call for more cheap foreign labour nothing more.

All of the skilled immigrants brought here to date can’t have helped much given Canada’s obvious declining fortunes.

‘Europe is persecuting Christians’

Free speech is under serious attack all across Europe. To criticise the sacred cows of the progressive worldview – from transgenderism to immigration and even Islam – is to invite a knock on the door from the thoughtpolice. The recent, harrowing trial of a Finnish parliamentarian reveals how it is often Christians who find themselves in the firing line. Päivi Räsänen has spent the past six years fighting a ‘hate speech’ prosecution, simply for quoting passages from the Bible and defending traditional marriage.

How I Found Myself in the Middle of ‘Anti-Fascist’ Violence at UC Berkeley

I was warned there would be trouble. Students and staff at the University of California at Berkeley have earned a reputation for intolerance. After I told some friends that I had agreed to speak on campus at a Turning Point USA event, at least three of them predicted that violence would ensue. One even suggested that I should withdraw. Naturally, I failed to heed the prophecies, even though we all know that the Cassandridae are never wrong.

Mexico president issues ferocious warning to Trump after US strikes threat

Donald Trump’s threat of US military strikes against drug cartels inside Mexico is a non-starter, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Tuesday.

‘It’s not going to happen,’ she said at a press conference, responding to Trump’s warning that he would do ‘whatever we have to do,’ including strikes within the territory.

Trump on Monday told reporters in the Oval Office that he would be ‘OK’ with assaults on drug lords operating inside Mexico, arguing that it would be justified to stop the inflow of the deadly opioid fentanyl.

The Naufrage of Belgium Is a Wake-Up Call for Europe

There are moments when a nation seems to drift, slowly and imperceptibly, into breakdown. Like Mike Campbell in Hemingway’s 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises, Belgium has done it “gradually, then suddenly.” The country, once the heart of Europe’s industrial miracle and the quiet administrative seat of the EU, is in big trouble. If Brussels once wished to become the Eurocrats’ Rome, an imperial capital of the new, boring, technocratic imperium that is the Union, the country has, instead, faced a storm of genuinely Gibbonian decay. In Belgium, one senses a fatigue that is deeper than political scandal or economic stagnation. It is the fatigue of a state that no longer quite believes it can govern itself.

‘ANYONE BEEN FIRED?’: Tories say billions spent on indigenous programs with little accountability

Indian Money Dance

Federal managers continue to escape scrutiny despite billions spent on indigenous programs, Conservative MPs warned Tuesday, as cabinet refused to discuss any consequences for officials who fail to deliver results.

“Has anybody been fired?” asked MP Jamie Schmale (Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes, Ont.) during a Commons Indigenous and Northern affairs committee session.

Jewish charity loses status following Palestine activist pressure

A third Jewish charity has lost its charitable status in a move its director says was driven by “outside complaints” and not any wrongdoing or misconduct.

Magen Herut Canada Charitable Foundation, a tiny volunteer-run organization, became the latest target of anti-Israel activists after sending volunteers to patrol near anti-Israel encampments at the University of Toronto last year.

Greg Abbott Takes Strong Action Against Terrorism-Tied Organizations CAIR & the Muslim Brotherhood

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Tuesday that he had designated the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist groups.

Both of these organizations have had longstanding ties to radical Islamic terrorism.

In a post on X, the governor noted that his proclamation “bans them from buying or acquiring land in Texas and authorizes the Attorney General to sue to shut them down.”

Tasha Kheiriddin: Poilievre lets Carney’s irresponsible budget slide through

Politics over principle is hardly a new story in Ottawa, but Tuesday’s budget vote provided a master class. For weeks the Conservatives huffed and puffed and threatened to blow the Liberals’ house down over their big spending ways. Conversely, the Bloc opposed the budget over its lack of spending on seniors. Green Leader Elizabeth May couldn’t support the budget’s boost for fossil fuels, while the NDP grumbled about cuts to the public service. To add to the intrigue, Conservative MP Chris d’Entremont bolted across the aisle and joined the government, while fellow Tory Matt Jeneroux announced he was resigning his seat … in the spring. The government then survived two confidence votes on opposition motions, thanks to abstentions, and everyone went home for a week-long break prior to the big vote on Monday.
