“The Jewish War”

Yesterday was the day fixed by President Trump by which Hamas had to accept his plan to bring an end to the unpleasantness in Gaza… or else!

While we wait for all hell to break loose. let us consider the words of Jewish Roman historian Flavius Josephus ben Matthias, in The Jewish War.

1950 years ago, Josephus wrote his contemporary account of the great Jewish rebellion against Rome. The insurrection began in 66 A.D. and lasted seven years.

Jamie Sarkonak: Deputy ministers working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep Ontario woke

Everyone knows what they’re going to get under an NDP provincial government: new social spending, funding for identity-based causes, diversity mandates, etc. But this appears to be equally the case in Ontario, a province that did not vote for such things and has been led by the Progressive Conservatives for years. The reason probably has something to do with the bureaucrats running the show.

What do you expect from a government that kept Sir John A in a box for two years?

‘Smirnoff’s next’: Ford said Ontario will look to remove more booze from LCBO shelves following Crown Royal plant closure

Premier Doug Ford says more booze may be stripped from LCBO shelves if a plan to shut down a Crown Royal bottling facility in southwestern Ontario goes forward.

“Who in their right mind, any business person with half a brain, would go after their largest customer in North America?” Ford asked during a news conference following the The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers Leadership Summit in Quebec City.

Multiculturalism, Nation, and Church

Why Christians Should Care about the Cultural Surrender of Britain

I don’t live on the south coast of England anymore, so—even at an imaginative level—the relentless thousands of fighting-age Muslim men arriving on the shores of Britain on boats each week does not appear to affect my life, my family, or my nation.

I do see it up-close in cities in the Midlands and the north, of course, where multiculturalism has simply been an open drawbridge for cultural Islamism, and where whole areas of such cities look like a completely different place to the Britain most of us grew up knowing.

For most of Britain’s population—even myself—it is remarkably easy to block it all out and pretend it’s not really happening. But it is happening. And it shows no signs of stopping happening anytime soon. Why do we pretend it’s not happening?

The AI Employment Apocalypse Is Only a Few Years Away

Since ChatGPT’s paradigm-shifting debut in November 2022, writers and thinkers of all stripes have touted the virtues and lamented the dangers of A.I. Such dangers include A.I.’s disastrous effect on education and on creativity, its potential to enable ordinary citizens to make weapons of mass destruction or to flood the world with deepfakes, its supposed tendency to reinforce stereotypes, its willingness to steal our intellectual property or its capacity to kill us off entirely.

Yet one danger of A.I. looms above all others — and we’re completely unprepared for it: the coming wave of A.I.-driven unemployment likely to hit within the next few years.

‘An open nerve’: Israelis, Palestinians mark two years of the Gaza war

OTTAWA – Two years into the war in Gaza, the conflict continues to spread anger, frustration and pain across Canada, while Israelis and Palestinians fear the region will never exit the cycle of violence.

Hamas militants and affiliates attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing 1,200 civilians and soldiers and taking roughly 240 people hostage. Israel responded by bombarding the Gaza Strip, killing more than 67,000 civilians and militants, according to the Hamas-controlled health ministry.

Israel insists it is neutralizing threats that have been supported by Iran’s government, and is seeking the destruction of Hamas so it can no longer threaten Israel. Israel also argues the United Nations hasn’t done enough to tackle these threats.

Reminder: Hamas and the Palestinian Authority Do Not Believe In Any Peace Process

Any attempt to portray Hamas’s purported acceptance of US President Donald J. Trump’s proposal to end the war in the Gaza Strip as a sign that either the Palestinian Authority (PA) or the Iran-backed Palestinian terror group is now interested in peace with Israel is misleading and baseless.

Both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority are not, and never were, interested in peace with Israel. The only peace they envision is one that would see Israel eliminated and replaced with an Islamist state, preferably, each with itself as the head.

OMISSION: Legacy Sunday Shows SILENT About Virginia AG Candidate’s Murderous Text Messages

The legacy Sunday shows appear to have taken a collective vow of omertà regarding coverage of what would have been treated as an immediate disqualifier had a Republican done something similar.

The hosts of these shows shut out any discussion of Democrat Virginia Attorney General candidate Jay Jones as he fantasized about murdering a political opponent and his family in a series of text messages.

Working but unable to afford rent, St. Marys woman moves into town’s first tiny home

A young St. Marys, Ont., woman has been handed the keys to independence and stability thanks to a charity that’s planning to open the first of many tiny homes for people at risk of homelessness.

The home is 490 square feet, but for Paige Noel, 20, it’s a big step toward getting established, all while staying close to her family. The tiny home was erected in her mother’s yard, as the nearby house is already at capacity.

“I never imagined I’d be able to have my own place like this,” Noel said.

Her Mom wouldn’t take her in?

FIFA demanding hands-off approach to protesters: Document

FIFA is requiring Toronto’s government, as a World Cup host city, to adopt a “non-interference” policy toward human rights advocates – a group that apparently includes protesters – the Toronto Sun has learned.

A 27-page list of “sustainability and human rights tournament requirements,” released to the Sun after a freedom-of-information request, is dated June 2023. The document says “protection of human rights defenders,” as well as freedom of the press, “is essential to a successful and rights-respecting delivery of the competition.”

Ridiculous.
