The “Strong Borders Act,” Misses the Mark — Only Deep Legal Reforms Will Confront Canada’s Fentanyl Networks:

OTTAWA — Bill C-2, Ottawa’s so-called “Strong Borders Act,” promises to secure Canada’s frontiers with new surveillance powers, sweeping ministerial discretion, and higher penalties. But as veteran Canadian investigators know, the bill misses the point. It is an omnibus solution that expands the state’s reach online, while leaving untouched the very legal choke points that have made Canada a permissive financial platform and fentanyl laboratory for cartels, Triads, and state-linked terror networks.

‘Golden Dome’ and a U.S. defence pivot create new challenges for Canada

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. administration is set to publish its National Defense Strategy this month at a time when the Pentagon is planning for a leaner, meaner military, and President Donald Trump is inviting Canada to enjoy the protection of Golden Dome defence by becoming the 51st U.S. state.

So, National Post spoke with Jennifer Kavanagh, a senior fellow and director of military analysis at Defense Priorities and an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s Center for Security Studies, to get her insights on American defence strategy and the road ahead.

Canada will not pony up.

The Antifa War Instigators

Some things never change. Last Saturday, Ron Wyden, Oregon’s senior Democrat U.S. senator, made a ballsy — if unintended — declaration in a X post. Wyden proclaimed: “My message to Donald Trump is this: we don’t need you here. Stay the hell out of our city.”

My, my, are we hearing echoes of John C. Calhoun’s fiery declarations in the runup to the Civil War? The senator’s words smack of States’ Rights conceit. You’d think that Senator Calhoun — err, Wyden — was demanding that federal troops vacate Fort Sumter. Didn’t Abe Lincoln settle that matter way back when?

Black Elites Keep Flogging the Victimhood Lie

Progressivism is a house of cards built precariously on a foundation of sand. It hinges entirely on demonstrably false narratives intentionally designed to sow division and to “rub raw the resentments of the people,” as Luciferian Left-wing strategist Saul Alinsky put it. One of those narratives is that America was founded as, and continues to be, a systemically racist, white supremacist nation in which the purported “Land of Opportunity” excludes the awkwardly termed “people of color” from its promises and prosperity. Racism resides in our country’s very DNA, claimed Barack Obama.

Canada has lost the plot on MAID

When the Canadian government passed legislation nearly a decade ago to approve medical assistance in dying (MAID), it was an exercise in compassion. A competent Canadian adult suffering from an “irremediable medical condition,” whose death was “reasonably foreseeable,” would no longer have to suffer; MAID would offer a way to avoid the unnecessary pain, the loss of dignity and the loss of autonomy that often comes with natural death. In narrow circumstances and with strict safeguards, MAID could expedite a process that was already occurring.

Polyamorous parenting is coming our way, if we don’t watch out

IN Montreal a ‘throuple’ of three polyamorous men have adopted a three-year-old girl.

The men are seeking to have all three of them recognised as her legal parents. Their bid comes hard on the heels of a bizarre ruling in Quebec in April ordering the Civil Code to allow more than two legal parents.

For what possible reason? You may well ask. It is this: capping ‘filiation’ at two parents sends the message that only ‘so-called “normal” families, with a maximum of two parents, represent family structures that are valid and worthy of legal recognition’.

Town in eastern Germany is a testing lab for reversing population decline

EISENHÜTTENSTADT, Germany — Back behind the Iron Curtain, when this town 75 miles southeast of Berlin was called Stalinstadt, it was meant to be a blueprint for utopian life in Communist East Germany — a model socialist city built around a steelworks.

Today, East Germany is no longer its own country and, despite the gaps slowly closing, residents of the region lag behind the West in virtually every category, including life expectancy, wealth, employment and population.

So, as Germany celebrates the 35th anniversary of reunification on Friday, Eisenhüttenstadt — “Ironworks City” — has become a different kind of model: one of several towns experimenting with a strategy to repopulate and attract skilled workers called Probewohnen, or trial living.
