Israel’s navy intercepted the large flotilla attempting to break its maritime blockade on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, after the military issued a final warning for the pro-Palestinian fleet to change course.

The Israeli Navy operation, which came as the country marked Yom Kippur, began on Wednesday evening and continued overnight and into Thursday.

But there have been many other examples, including in the case of Saskatchewan’s pronoun law, and Ontario’s sex-education revamp that Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives had campaigned on before winning the election in 2018.

Nadine Ness, director of Saskatchewan-based grassroots group Unified Grassroots, says it’s not right that unelected school administrators and activists get to overrule elected governments—who reflect the will of the public who voted for them—on parental rights.

“The only people it serves are certain teachers and the government, and that is more harmful to students than we can ever imagine,” Ness, who is a mother of four, told The Epoch Times.

Canada’s new warships could be obsolete by delivery time

Two small motorboats collided off the west coast of Vancouver Island this past summer, causing a large explosion. The crash was just a demonstration, conducted by the Royal Canadian Navy with equipment from a British defence contractor. But the technology on display has serious implications for Canada’s procurement of 15 large warships known as River-class destroyers.

The small motorboats used in the demo, called hammerheads, are designed for hunting and eliminating large naval vessels. Instead of having a crew, they are remotely controlled over a satellite link.

Rochdale grooming gang leader sentenced to 35 years in prison

Mohammed Zahid – rapes children for his demon master Allah

A market stallholder who groomed and raped two schoolgirls in Rochdale has been jailed for 35 years.

Mohammed Zahid, 65, also known as “Boss Man”, gave free underwear from his lingerie stall at Rochdale Indoor Market to both teenagers, with money, alcohol and food, in return for the expectation of regular sex with him and his friends.

Zahid and six other men were convicted in June of various sexual offences against the two white teenage girls, who did not know each other, between 2001 and 2006.

Calculating the odds of a civil war in the United States

“Predictions are hard, especially about the future” (so says the Danish proverb), but still we make them, especially when we care about the future.

Here are some about the future of the United States in the next three and a bit years, expressed as probabilities, although you should not trust the numbers.

We can, for example, calculate the probability that a person will die within X years if we know their age, their sex and a few other details. According to U.S. actuarial tables, a 79-year-old male American with a body mass index of around 30, like Donald Trump, stands a 10 per cent chance of dying before the end of 2028. But the tables can’t tell you if Trump is in that 10 per cent.
