Carney unveils billions in funding, Buy ̷C̷a̷n̷a̷d̷i̷a̷n̷ Post-National State policy to combat Trump’s tariffs

Prime Minister Mark Carney rolled out a series of measures on Friday that he says will transform Canada’s economy into a force that can withstand the trade shocks of the Trump administration.

The measures announced in the strategy have been targeted to specifically help workers and businesses that have been most impacted by U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs and trade disruptions.

“If you look back over our country’s history, we have turned challenges into opportunities,” Carney said in Mississauga, Ont. “And now, at this moment of profound change, we bear the same responsibilities and we should have the same ambitions as those who came before us.”

I don’t know what he means by Canada. All I see is a 3rd world dumping ground that he helped create.

‘We are the troops’: Inside Chicago’s split communities as Trump vows to deploy National Guard

In the South Side of Chicago, few people seemed braced for President Donald Trump’s troops.

But many here would tell you about another battle – one for the souls of the young.

We drove through neighbourhoods notorious for their levels of violent crime. In one, Bronzeville, we went to the spot where seven people were shot and wounded in a drive-by attack last weekend.

It was a block from Chicago Police HQ. The casualties were among at least 58 people shot, eight fatally, across the city over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Mohamed here says he’s real shocked by his pal’s behavior

Hadush Kebatu, from Ethiopia, targeted a 14-year-old girl during two encounters in Epping on 7 and 8 July.

Protests have been staged outside The Bell Hotel, where he was being housed, since Kebatu’s arrest and subsequent conviction on Thursday of five offences.

Matthew Lau: The unrelenting growth of Canada’s wealth-destroying public service

The federal government spent $71.1 billion on personnel costs in fiscal year 2024-25, the Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) has estimated, up from $69.6 billion the year before. Unfortunately, even though the number of public service jobs fell by about three per cent in 2025, the count of full-time equivalents, which accounts for whether those jobs were full-time or part-time, continued to grow, helping drive the cost increase. And despite the slight decline in the count of public servants in 2025, last year still capped off a decade of significant growth: from 257,034 in 2015, the federal public service expanded by more than 100,000, or over 39 per cent, to 357,965 by 2025.

Trump Could Ban Iranians from Costco Stores: Report

In a move that underscores the Trump administration’s unusual approach to diplomacy, Iranian delegates to the United Nations may soon need special permission just to fill a shopping cart at Costco or Sam’s Club.

The proposal, detailed in an internal U.S. State Department memo seen by The Associated Press, is part of a broader crackdown on visas and foreign diplomat movement, following the recent denial of entry to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his delegation.

I was arrested after refusing to remove my Union flag – I thought I’d be the next Lucy Connolly

On Sunday evening, two days after the Court of Appeal ruled that the Bell Hotel in Epping could continue to house migrants, Sarah White joined the protest route, which she has marched countless times in the past two months. Wearing a pink top with “The Only Way is Epping” emblazoned on it, carrying a Union flag, she addressed the crowd.

“We assert our fundamental right to protest peacefully,” she said. “A right woven into the fabric of our history.” Essex, White went on, “once repelled a Napoleonic invasion”. “We will not consent to governance that endangers our communities.”

B.C. premier wants temporary foreign worker program cancelled or reformed

In a surprise statement, Premier David Eby called for the end of Canada’s temporary foreign worker (TFW) program — blaming Ottawa’s flawed immigration policies for filling up homeless shelters and food banks.

“The temporary foreign worker program is not working. It should be cancelled or significantly reformed,” Eby said during an unrelated announcement in Surrey, B.C., Thursday.

“We can’t have an immigration system that fills up our homeless shelters and our food banks. We can’t have an immigration system that outpaces our ability to build schools and housing. And we can’t have an immigration program that results in high youth unemployment.

Doug Ford loves the TFW program. Corporate welfare is the God Given right of the ruling class in Dougie’s world.
