Geoff Russ: Yes Liberals, Canada is pretty much the Wild West today

Last Sunday, 46-year-old Abdul Aleem Farooqi was shot to death in his Vaughan home just after midnight. The shooter was part of a band of armed, masked intruders seeking to rob the house.

Farooqi was protecting his family when he died, and his children are now left without a father, and his wife without a husband.

On the same day in Welland, 25-year-old Daniel Senecal is alleged to have broken into another home and sexually abused a toddler while the parents slept. He was known to the police.

GOLDSTEIN: Carney keeps moving the goal posts on trade deal with U.S.

No doubt many Canadians will be surprised to learn that, according to Prime Minister Mark Carney, Canada has already achieved, “the best trade deal of any country in the world” with U.S. President Donald Trump.

The reason, Carney said on Wednesday, is that. “We have a team, a very senior team, the clerk of the Privy Council is there in Washington as we speak, that is meeting with U.S. counterparts”, plus his own constructive conversations with Trump, including, the PM revealed, their latest “at length” talk on Monday which he described as a “good” conversation.

What our continued fascination with UFOs says about us

In September 2018, at 11 o’clock at night, as I strolled with my wife and daughter along the edge of the lagoon in Venice, Italy, I witnessed what is formally known as Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP).

A dozen bright lights flew in tight formation high in the starry night, then started twirling around each other in an impossibly playful way, and finally disappeared in a flash over the horizon. Not a sound was heard. Nothing I know could have moved like that. These weren’t drones or planes.

So what did I see?

Bruce Springsteen’s Anti-American Anthem

Honoring the Rust Belt’s greatest sellout — and elitist suck-up.

It was July 1984, a very late weeknight. My buddy Mike and I closed up Perkins Restaurant in Butler, Pennsylvania, and left about 1 a.m. with a six-pack of Budweiser pounders for the old Kaufman’s department store in downtown Pittsburgh. There we joined a long line of fellow 1980s degenerates sleeping out all night on the sidewalk in quest of coveted Bruce Springsteen concert tickets.

Toronto real estate: This is how much you need to make to afford a one-bedroom apartment

A new report is sounding the alarm on unaffordable rent in Toronto, pointing out that despite a softening of prices in the rental market, one- and two-bedroom apartments remain out of reach for many workers.

The report, Making Rent: The CCPA’s rental wage update 2024, was released Thursday by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. It looks at the “rental wage”—the hourly wage needed to afford rent while working a standard 40-hour week and spending 30 per cent of income on housing—for one- and two-bedroom units in 62 Canadian cities.

It found that Toronto and Vancouver top the list when it comes to unaffordable rental housing.

Someone working full time would need to make almost $38 an hour in order to afford a one-bedroom apartment in those cities. That works out to an annual salary of around $78,000.

The EU ‘Elites’, Part III The EU Needs Its Own Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)

The idea of a European Union Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to clean up the waste and fraud that goes on with EU taxpayer money is slowly spreading in Europe, but more than overdue. Most Europeans are completely unaware of the madness of EU spending on useless, batty projects, including NGOs that have turned out to be a way for many of the EU’s “elites” to receive nice kickbacks.

‘Despicable’ distraction thefts targeting seniors on the rise in Toronto

Toronto police are running a patrol blitz to combat the meteoric rise of “despicable” distraction thefts targeting seniors across the city.

There have been 374 distraction thefts across Toronto so far this year, an explosive growth from 2024 which saw just 28 incidents throughout the entire year, Chief Supt. Mandeep Mann said while speaking at a press conference Wednesday morning.

The thefts involve someone diverting a victim’s attention before swiping something valuable like jewelry, wallets, or phones. The perpetrators target 60- to 90-year-olds during daylight hours on weekdays, Mann warned.

Canada will thank U.S. President Donald Trump in 20 years: Charest

QUEBEC — Jean Charest says Canada will eventually thank U.S. President Donald Trump for providing the country with a much-needed economic shakeup.

The Quebec premier between 2003 and 2012 told business leaders in Quebec City on Tuesday that Trump is pulling Canada out of its “lethargy” and forcing its leaders to rethink the economy.

Charest is now a member of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s council on Canada-U.S. relations.

Crony Capitalism has taken a hit in the balls. But Canada being Canada they will remain an important part of our corrupt self serving political class.

Project 2025 mastermind invited to speak at Carney’s cabinet meeting

A prominent conservative figure in American politics and the mastermind behind Project 2025 — the infamous policy blueprint that proposed a drastic overhaul of the U.S. government — will speak to Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cabinet behind closed doors Thursday.

Carney and his ministers are in the Greater Toronto Area for two days of meetings ahead of the fall parliamentary sitting. According to the list of guest speakers, the Liberal team is hearing from Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think-tank that has shaped Republican administrations since the 1980s.

It’s the group that spearheaded Project 2025, a 900-page manifesto meant to usher in a new ultra-conservative administration supported by more than 100 like-minded organizations.

Remember this the next time the CBC cries “foreign interference” or some such nonsense when the Conservatives invite a US speaker.

Italy: Two Muslims arrested in foiled plot to attack Santa Rosa religious procession in Viterbo

Two Turks prevented from attacking Santa Rosa procession in Viterbo

Attack in Viterbo foiled, two Turks arrested: they wanted to attack the Santa Rosa procession

There is widespread fear in Viterbo over the procession of Santa Rosa , an unmissable event for the faithful of the Lazio city. Yesterday afternoon, the Digos (Special Operations Division) arrested two Turkish citizens. They were staying at a B&B in the upper part of the historic center, right along the procession route, and during the search, a machine gun , several pistols , magazines, and ammunition were found in their possession. Initial investigations suggest the Turks may have targeted the crowd indiscriminately or directly the Santa Rosa procession , carried by porters, a historic religious and civic symbol of Viterbo. ” This was a decisive operation that allowed us to safely celebrate a unique event, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity and representing a centuries-old tradition deeply felt by the people of Viterbo and many Italians ,” Meloni said.
