Populist Right Wing Parties Lead Polls in Europe’s Biggest Economies

LONDON—For the first time, populist or far-right parties are leading the polls in Europe’s three biggest countries of the U.K., France, and Germany, the latest sign of growing voter discontent in much of the continent following years of high immigration and inflation.

Far-right and anti-immigration parties have already entered government in countries such as Italy, Finland and the Netherlands. But this year marks the first time that they have been ahead in Europe’s biggest economies at the same time. That could provoke a period of political turbulence in all three countries, even if national elections are likely still a few years away.

Trump slams JB Pritzker on Chicago crime after at least 6 people killed during bloody weekend

President Trump slammed JB Pritzker as “weak and pathetic” on Saturday, warning that he’ll deploy federal troops to Chicago if the Democratic governor of Illinois doesn’t get the violence under control.

Pritzker has accused Trump of “attempting to manufacture a crisis” in Chicago, where at least 35 people have been shot, including four fatally, so far over Labor Day weekend.

Trump’s fiery Truth Social post addressed a previous weekend of carnage in Chicago, where shootings left six dead and more than two dozen hurt between Aug. 22 and Aug. 25.

Justin Trudeau offered to save migrants from Trump; 8 years later Canadians are still paying the price

Although officially ‘closed,’ the Roxham Road border crossing is bustling, thanks to human traffickers.

On January 28, 2017, in the immediate aftermath of President Trump’s first travel ban, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sent out a tweet that would reverberate far beyond social media:

To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength. #WelcomeToCanada.”

Migrants and asylum-seekers in the United States took Trudeau at his word, and within weeks, illegal crossings over the Quebec-New York border surged, centered on a rural stretch known as Roxham Road.

David J. Bercuson: By recognizing ‘Palestine,” Carney upends 80 years of Canadian foreign policy

When Prime Minister Mark Carney announced in July that Canada would recognize a Palestinian state, he reversed almost eight decades of Canadian policy regarding Israel and its Arab protagonists. That reversal was ill-formed, badly timed and bound to give comfort to Israel’s enemies and strengthen the extreme right-wing nationalists in the current Israeli government.

Canada’s involvement with the birth of the modern State of Israel began in 1947, the year the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP) — an 11-member body tasked with exploring the Palestine question and charged to make recommendations to the General Assembly on the future of the area — was formed.

Canada is governed by DEI.

Debunked: Another American Covid Vaccine Study Torn to Shreds

Many of you enjoyed the first of my three-part metacritique of six influential studies on the COVID-19 vaccines, with it somehow being added to the US Senate’s official record. Part 1 was about the infamous Watson et al. study, which has since been further proven to be ridiculous. Now part 2 has been published, dealing with the American-focused and Big Pharma-funded Kitano et al. This is an expanded version of the much shorter article published in Oxford University Press’s American Journal of Epidemiology, and the follow-up OUP would not permit me to publish. Here are some highlights (quotations from my article unless otherwise stated).

Company behind Jack Daniel’s says Canadian boycott is ‘significant’ as sales drop 62%

The parent company of American alcohol producers such as Jack Daniel’s whisky and Woodford Reserve bourbon says sales to Canada dropped 62 per cent during the latest fiscal quarter compared to a year ago, as American alcohol remains off the shelves in many provinces.

After U.S. President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on Canadian goods in early March, a number of provinces retaliated, pulling American alcohol from store shelves. Alberta and Saskatchewan have since lifted the ban.

During a conference call with investors Thursday, officials with Brown-Forman — the parent company of brands such as Jack Daniel’s and Woodford Reserve — noted other pressures, but said the boycott is causing a “significant impact.”

Chicago mayor to sign executive order directing city to resist Trump’s immigration raids

Lookin good for looting season

The mayor of Chicago is planning to sign an executive order on Saturday outlining how the city will attempt to resist Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown, according to reports.

Brandon Johnson will set out guidance for the city’s agencies and law enforcement, CNN reported, “in the midst of escalating threats from the federal government”.

Last week, the White House requested that a US military base on the outskirts of Chicago be made available to assist with immigration operations, as the Trump administration plans a broader takeover of Democratic-run “sanctuary cities”.

The “Kamloops Hoax” is costing taxpayers billions

No graves have been found but the spending hasn’t stopped—and no one in Parliament is asking the hard questions

The “Kamloops Hoax” is the largest misuse of taxpayer dollars in Canadian history, yet, unlike past scandals, the Official Opposition has failed to challenge it.

Critics use the term “Kamloops Hoax” because, more than three years after the 2021 announcement that 215 Indigenous children’s remains had been detected at Kamloops, no human remains have been recovered and no forensic evidence has confirmed the claim.

“The Kuffars Have No Say”: Members of Illegal Mosque Refuse To Leave

A decades-long dispute over a mosque and Koran school in Leonding, Upper Austria, is escalating once again after city authorities officially confirmed that the religious site is operating illegally, Austrian Express reports. The mosque, run by the “Islamic Assembly and Educational Association,” occupies space in a commercial property on Welserstraße. Its landlord, Siegfried Meinhart, has been fighting an expensive legal battle to remove the tenants for years, but the Islamist group shows no signs of leaving.
