Desmond Cole was hired by the Toronto District School Board to give talk on anti-Black racism
An address to educators by a prominent Toronto activist landed with a thud, and has city Jewish groups demanding answers from the school board.
“If people interpret ‘Free Palestine’ as being violent, it is because they are benefitting from Palestinians being unfree,” Cole said in a clip of the address posted online.
“In the same way if you answer “Black Lives Matter’ with ‘All Lives Matter,’ you must have some investment in Black lives being undervalued.”
In an epic self-own, Toronto activist Desmond Cole is incensed by the suggestion that the slogan ‘Free Palestine’ is meant as a call for the destruction of Israel. He demands proof that anyone ever said so… Here’s how his own followers responded… a thread 🧵 pic.twitter.com/zky2U8OU7E

Of course the Muslims support him.
I’ll have a lot more to say about this soon, but for now thank you @nccm for this support
the TDSB staff in this exchange repeatedly disrupted an equity talk the board hired me to give—they were uncomfortable with me saying “free Palestine” https://t.co/urD0zvz9ET
