Pressure building on Liberals to rethink electric vehicle mandate

OTTAWA — As Canada approaches a critical starting point for its electric vehicle goals, pressure is building on Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government to rethink its plan.

Starting next year, the Liberal plan to get more electric vehicles on the road will enter its first phase: mandating sales targets for car companies, which could purchase credits, including by spending on charging infrastructure, or face penalties for not complying.

Towards Jihadist Pogroms in Europe?

Europe in 2025 has been facing rising tensions linked to Islamist radicalization, These have been fueled by conflicts in the Middle East, jihadist propaganda on social networks and gaps in security coordination among countries.

Imagine a handful of individuals, mostly radicalized European Muslims, between the ages of 18 and 35, operating in major European cities such as Brussels, Paris or Berlin, and determined to avenge “the Palestinians”. This network decides to strike Jewish Europeans, massacre as many as possible, spread terror among Jews and non-Muslims – all “kuffars“, unbelievers in Allah — and to pit one community against another. They gather in unmonitored mosques, on encrypted internet forums or through recruiters in the Middle East. Together, to maximize the psychological and media impact, they plan a coordinated attack, inspired by Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. Their target: a high-profile public event, such as a cultural festival, a march against antisemitism, a pro-Israel rally, or a so-called “republican march”, as it is known in France. Their attack could be paired with a secondary target, such as a Jewish community center or synagogue, to remind the international community who the villain is supposed to be.

Alberta Next survey asks if province should withhold social help for some immigrants

CALGARY — Whether Alberta should withhold social services from some immigrants is among the issues Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is tabling for debate this summer when she travels the province to consult citizens on potential referendum questions.

The tour is part of what Smith has dubbed the “Alberta Next” panel. At a news conference Tuesday, she announced details of its work and named its 15 members.

At the same time, six online surveys were launched on the panel’s website, which are to help inform what questions the government puts to a referendum next year.

It’s taller than Rio’s — Spanish town plans giant statue of Christ

A row has erupted over plans to build the world’s tallest statue of Christ, on the outskirts of Madrid.

A group of Catholics from the town of Boadilla del Monte, a municipality just outside the Spanish capital, have pledged to raise a monumental figure 37m (120ft) high and with a span of 60m (196ft) — taller than Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, which is 30m high. The tallest statue of Christ in the world is at present Christ the King in Swiebodzin, Poland, which is 33m high and has a 2m crown.

It seems so odd in this day and age to see something like this.

How Much Energy Does Your AI Prompt Use? I Went to a Data Center to Find Out.

There they were. Golden boxes, louder than a toddler on a red-eye, hotter than a campfire in a heat wave, pricier than a private Caribbean island.

Yes, real, working Nvidia GPUs.

I was under strict “look, don’t touch” orders—as if I’d, what, lick the mesh metal enclosure. Just standing there, I could hear and feel the electricity being devoured.

We’ve all heard about AI’s insatiable energy appetite. By 2028, data centers like this one I visited in Ashburn, Va., could consume up to 12% of all U.S. electricity, according to a report from the Energy Department and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.

Back in the Olden Days they called you an Islamophobe for saying such things

Muslim Brotherhood and Qatar have established extensive network across Canada: report

The Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist organization that has declared “jihad against the Jews,” has established a vast network of charities and fundraising across Canada, a new think-tank report finds.

“For decades, organizations affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, of which Hamas is also an adherent, have managed to embed themselves at all levels of Canadian society,” the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP) argues.

What brought this great awakening on?

Palestinian American girl sues school after refusing Pledge of Allegiance

The father of a 14-year-old Michigan student is suing his daughter’s school district and teacher on her behalf, alleging she was repeatedly humiliated and told to “go back to your country” when she refused to stand for and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

The complaint was filed Wednesday by the American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan and the Arab American Civil Rights League acting for Jacob Khalaf on behalf of his daughter, Danielle Khalaf, who is a U.S. citizen of Palestinian descent. She was attending East Middle School in the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools District at the time of the incident.

Deport the whole family.

Canada Needs to Buy European Defence Hardware: Not U.S.

On Monday June 9, Prime Minister Mark Carney did the unthinkable. He promised to immediately boost defence spending to meet the NATO spending objective of 2 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) within the current 2025 – 2026 fiscal year.

The original defence budget tabled for this same timeframe was $40 billion or roughly 1.3 per cent of Canada’s GDP. With Carney’s new directive, spending on defence and security is to balloon to $62.7 billion prior to April 1 2026.

SCOTUS Allows States to Remove Medicaid Funding to Planned Parenthood

In a 6-3 ruling on Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled that states can remove Planned Parenthood funding from their Medicaid programs. The split went exactly as we’ve come to expect, with six conservative justices ruling in favor and three liberal justices dissenting. (Oddly, the Associated Press refers to it as a “divided” ruling, as if we haven’t come to expect the conservative-liberal divide that we see in most cases.)

Star Says Toronto Can Learn From That Communist Lunatic Zohran Mamdani

He just won a shock election in New York by promising free buses and rent freezes. Toronto could learn from it

Recently, on a visit to New York City, I found myself in the middle of what could easily be mistaken for a party, replete with a DJ, a live band and craft beer cans. But this wasn’t just another concert in midtown Manhattan. It was a campaign rally for Zohran Mamdani. He’s the progressive state assemblymember who ran in New York’s Democratic primary for mayor — and won. His unexpected rise and victory have not only taken the city’s politics by storm; they’ve also attracted attention from anyone watching the state of progressive politics.

Because our current communist lunatic is working out so well.

Narrative Busted: Immigration Costs France 3.4 Per Cent of GDP, Think Tank Finds

Immigration has failed to produce the promised economic panacea in France and has rather resulted in a negative strain on the economy, costing the nation an estimated 3.4 per cent in GDP, a think tank has claimed.

The Observatory of Immigration and Demography (OID) argued that immigration has not only negatively impacted the social structures within France but has also come with a “budget deficit” in which taxes collected from immigrants only make up 86 per cent of what they cost the taxpayer, Le Figaro reported.

‘These cameras are becoming speed traps’: Toronto councillor calls for a pause on use of automated cameras

A Toronto councillor wants the city to pause its use of automated speed cameras, calling them “speed traps” that don’t actually slow speeders.

Coun. Anthony Perruzza (Ward 7, Humber River-Black Creek) plans to introduce a motion at council on Thursday asking the city to stop ticketing with the 150 cameras located throughout the city until it can prove it’s giving enough warning before they install the devices — and that the cameras aren’t ticketing “conscientious” drivers.

That’s their whole point. No way will a commie regime give up this cash cow.

Who is Zohran Mamdani, the dark horse in line to be NYC mayor?

Until he was five years old, Zohran Mamdani lived in a cottage on a hill above Kampala, Uganda, with a view of Lake Victoria.

He now lives in a one-bedroom flat in Queens, but by the beginning of next year he is on course to move into the famed Gracie Mansion as the mayor of America’s largest metropolis.

Mamdani, 33, a democratic socialist, a New York state assemblyman since 2021 and before that a rapper who performed under the moniker Mr Cardamom, is now all but certain to secure the Democratic nomination for mayor after a primary that generally selects the city’s next leader.
