On Lampedusa, the Left Blames Borders for Migrant Deaths

On October 3, 2013, one of the worst migrant boat shipwrecks took place off the coast of the southern Italian island of Lampedusa as people smugglers led an estimated 360 people or more to their deaths. This week, groups from across Europe came to the island to commemorate the tragedy.
Organised by the October 3 Committee, an Italian NGO formed after the 2013 massacre, a four-day event entitled “A Europe of Rights” was held on Lampedusa from September 30th to October 3rd, the anniversary of the shipwreck.

Ottawa suspends $1B green fund after receiving whistleblower complaint

Ottawa has frozen the activities of a federal foundation that finances the development of green technologies after receiving a report that criticized its management of public funds.
Sustainable Development Technologies Canada (SDTC) is in the middle of a five-year agreement with the federal government to distribute $1 billion to small and medium businesses in the clean tech sector.
The decision to suspend the organization’s ability to distribute its funding was announced on Tuesday by Innovation Minister François-Philippe Champagne.
San Francisco ‘Leaning Tower’ residents forced to pay $6.8M for failed fix

Residents of Millennium Tower, better known as the Leaning Tower of San Francisco, have been left to foot a $6.8 million bill after a much-needed renovation project failed to fix the troubled luxury building’s 29-inch tilt and caused nasty sewage spills.
Repairs to correct the infamous tower’s 29-inch tilt concluded with residents being billed $10 per square foot of condo space — costing tenants $6.8 million in total — as the project cost $20 million more than the $100 million expected, NBC Bay Area reported.

Anthony Furey: Musk Shines Much-Needed Light on US–Mexico Border Issue

Elon Musk’s visit to Eagle Pass, Texas, last week was a version of the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words.” The richest man in the world also commands one of the largest audiences in the world, with almost 160 million X/Twitter followers.
When he posts something, people notice. Big time. And people have noticed his visit to the Texas border town, where he wanted to witness first-hand what was actually happening with the illegal border crossings that have surged once again along the United States–Mexico border.
San Francisco woman is hit by car then run over by driverless Cruise vehicle that stopped on top of her for 30 MINUTES as she screamed for help

A California woman is being treated for ‘multiple traumatic injuries’ after being hit by a driver at a San Francisco intersection before becoming trapped underneath a Cruise driverless vehicle for 30 minutes.
The woman, who has not yet been named, was strolling through downtown San Francisco when she was hit by a sedan near the corner of Fifth and Market streets around 9:30pm on Monday night.
Footage taken by the Cruise vehicle and viewed by NBC, revealed how the car hit the woman in the left lane, throwing her into the path of the Cruise taxi which then ran her over. The sedan driver then fled the scene.
Sad spectacle of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT may be the tip of the iceberg

Metrolinx CEO Phil Verster’s press conference last week, wherein he announced he could not announce a planned opening date for the provincial transit agency’s Eglinton Crosstown project, was a sad spectacle for a bunch of reasons.
What can you even say about a delayed non-announcement about a delayed project, delivered by a guy who makes $856,551 a year and is now urging the public to — seriously — “give us some space” to fix a bunch of mysterious problems and get it open at an unspecified date?
Google says Liberals’ compromise regulations won’t alter its plans to pull news in Canada

OTTAWA — Draft regulations the Liberal government had been hoping would convince Google to reconsider a move to block news on its products in Canada won’t do the job, Google said Tuesday.
But the company isn’t expected to pull news from Google Search or its other products right away. A spokesperson said Google would “await the publication of final regulations” governing the implementation of the Online News Act.
Canada Has Spent Over $23 Million on WEF Projects

Since November 2015, Canada’s federal government has sent nearly $23.5 million to projects involving the World Economic Forum (WEF), documents obtained by The Epoch Times show.
The numbers are contained in a 127-page response tabled in the House of Commons Sept. 18 to a question posed in June by Conservative MP Leslyn Lewis.
Carjackings, Looting, And Murder: ‘Equity’ In Action!

Three pretty unnerving things have happened within the past week: Target cited crime and safety as reasons for closing another nine locations, a congressman was carjacked at gunpoint, and a Philadelphia-based journalist was murdered in his home.
Welcome to the United States of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. We hope you enjoy your stay!
Entire fleet of Jackson’s rechargeable buses out of commission, public transit service falls back on the ever-reliable diesel engine

Underneath the foreseeable fiasco is a scandal that views like a Solyndra rerun, and a grotesquely wasteful government—and as if Solyndra-esque plotlines and a federal government taking our hard earned money to prop up both parties on either end of a business deal from which a vast majority of the country does not benefit weren’t realities obscene and condemning enough, the latest act in the unfolding rechargeable vehicle drama of Jackson’s START system now can add a 100% failure rate of the product to the list. Cowboy State Daily’s Kevin Killough penned an article last week covering the news
What went wrong with Billy Bragg?

An online ding-dong is like a full complement of condiments at lunch; you wouldn’t want to live off it, but it certainly adds spice. I haven’t had a decent one in ages, but last weekend I decided to have some sport with Billy Bragg, whose decline truly reflects the culture wars which shape our times.
Only the ‘Far Right’ Is Standing Between You and the Death of Free Speech

The international establishment media wants you to know that Edwin Wagensveld is “far right.” there is virtually no mention of him that doesn’t include this Homeric epithet, so that all Right-Thinking People, that is, those who are still credulous enough to believe the media, will know that this is a man to be shunned and ignored. Yet it is Wagensveld and others like him who are smeared as “far right” who are standing between ordinary citizens and one of the left’s most sinister agendas: the destruction of the freedom of speech.
Disney Produced the Most Homosexual Content in 2022

The left-wing fascists at GLAAD say Netflix and Disney — Disney! — produced more homosexual content than any other studio. Second place didn’t even come close.
Some of you might not be old enough to remember this, but there was a time when Disney was a brand for children, a brand that protected the innocence of children and did not expose them to adult sexuality or the horrors that come with joining the transgender cult — horrors that include increased suicide rates, genital mutilation, and sterilization.
