A U.S.-based Sikh group is rallying the diaspora in B.C. to vote for an independent state in India

U.S.-based group Sikhs for Justice is mobilizing members of its diaspora to vote in what it describes as a referendum, including one scheduled in Surrey, B.C., on Sunday to create an independent Sikh homeland in northern India called Khalistan.

The vote has been on a world tour since 2021 with more events planned to tap into separatist sentiments in the Sikh diaspora.

Organizers have conducted votes in London, Melbourne, Rome, Geneva and in Ontario, which attracted thousands of people in Brampton last year, and thousands in Mississauga this July. The group’s ultimate goal is to hold a vote in Punjab in 2025.

No, the Press Is Not ‘Tougher’ on Biden Than He ‘Deserves’

President Joe Biden had an uncharacteristically self-aware moment in 2022.

As we learn from Franklin Foer, an Atlantic staff writer whose new book is The Last Politician: Inside Joe Biden’s White House and the Struggle for America’s Future, the moment came not long after the president casually endorsed regime change in Russia. During a speech in Poland, Biden remarked that, “for God’s sake, [Putin] cannot remain in power.” The White House was swift to walk back the unscripted comment, much to Biden’s reported chagrin.

Gun rights group sues New Mexico governor over emergency firearm ban

A pro-gun group is suing the New Mexico governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, in an effort to block a 30-day emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public in Albuquerque’s Bernalillo county issued last week after a spate of shootings.

The governor announced open and concealed carry restrictions on Friday in a public health order relating to gun violence after the fatal shootings of an 11-year-old boy on his way home from a minor league baseball game last week, as well as the fatal shooting of a four-year-old girl in her bed in a motor home and a 13-year-old girl in Taos county in August.

Who’d have thought it? Soldiers are Right-wing

The new James Bond may be progressive, but the army certainly isn’t

Charlie Higson’s new Bond novel On His Majesty’s Secret Service provoked incredulity and scorn last week, for depicting Bond as a kimchi-eating Centrist Dad and the villain as the Ukipper-on-steroids “Aethelstan”. This in turn prompted a flurry of debate about whether a woke Bond is plausible. Meanwhile, reports this week of a PTSD camp for veterans seemingly operated by the real-world “Aethelstan” offer a tantalising counterargument.

The FBI massively erred about civilians stopping active shooters

I’m one of those who believes that what stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Sometimes, that good guy is a police officer, and sometimes, the good guy is a civilian. Leftists claim that the good guys’ contribution is so inconsequential that it doesn’t justify honoring citizens’ Second Amendment to keep and bear arms. New Mexico governor Michelle Grisham certainly agrees with that viewpoint. Leftists look to FBI statistics to support their arguments—so will you be surprised to learn that the FBI’s statistics are wrong? And, as always, that the error works to support leftist ideology and political positions?

Director Is Baffled After Reporter Asks Why No Diversity in Film About 18th Century Denmark

Mads Mikkelsen has enjoyed a stellar career in film, appearing as an actor in such films as “King Arthur,” “Casino Royale,” and most recently, the Indiana Jones film “Dial of Destiny.”

Mikkelsen’s latest project is “The Promised Land,” set in 1750 Denmark. In the film, Mikkelsen plays Ludvig von Khalen, a soldier who “arrives in 1755 on the barren Jutland heath with a single goal: to follow the king’s call to cultivate the land and thereby achieve wealth and honor himself,” according to its IMDb synopsis.

Needless to say, there aren’t many Spanish speakers, Asians, or Native Americans in the film. In 1750, Denmark was populated by white, Nordic Europeans. Except that in the film, there is a single black woman who is a victim of racism. This fact apparently went over the head of one unnamed Danish reporter.

I want to see someone make a Hitler biography with a totally racialized cast.

Leicester: a powder keg waiting to explode

Last year’s riots revealed the folly of celebrating diversity without forging shared values.

It is one year on from the violent unrest in Leicester, which by mid-September had culminated in large-scale public disorder. This was when gangs of masked Muslim and Hindu youths fought each other on the normally quiet suburban streets of this English city.

After the unrest, there was no shortage of police activity. Around 150 people have been either arrested or interviewed under caution, and prosecutors have secured a string of weapons-related convictions.

John Ivison: Ottawa fiddles around on firefighting while wildfires burn

Canada’s summer of wildfires has exposed its political leaders as participants in a never-ending roundtable, jabbering about solutions while the country burns.

It must be clear even to this federal government that it cannot keep calling on its combat professionals to sling sandbags and mopping up after fires if it wants to have any level of operational readiness during a period of heightened geopolitical tensions.

Ukraine Demands Extradition of Its Draft-Age Men

Neither the Austrian, nor the Czech government is willing to bow to Ukraine’s demands and extradite Ukrainian men who have fled the war-torn country. “That would be a massive interference in our sovereignty, we would never do that,” a spokesman for the Austrian Interior Ministry said to Exxpress on September 7th. “Such a request would likely contravene Czech law, making it impossible to approve it,” the Czech Justice Ministry stated in the Prague Monitor.

Trudeau says he wanted G20 to take stronger stand against Russia on war in Ukraine … but no one wanted to talk to him

They made Justin cry.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says if it were up to him, the G20 leaders’ declaration on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine would have been much stronger.

At a closing summit news conference on Sunday, Trudeau said, however, that if other leaders had their way, the declaration would have been much weaker.

“If it was just up to me, it would have been stronger, he said.

“But they sent me for a time-out when I started to cry.”

MORGAN: Trudeau is directly responsible for Canada’s housing crisis

Canada needs to have a serious discussion about its immigration levels and fast.

It’s a subject conservative politicians shy away from as they will inevitably be accused of racism and progressive politicians won’t discuss because it’s such an effective wedge against Conservatives.

The politics must stop and reality must set in.

Canada’s heading into a socioeconomic crisis due to immigration policies.
