Climate Stupidity Canadian Style

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau doubles down on carbon taxes, hammering Canadian farms and raising prices for everyone.

Competition is high between nations to see who can implement the silliest climate policies. President Biden is far in the lead, but other nations want to catch up.

Please consider Destroying Canada’s Farms, for What?

Daleks to be granted “Deputy Special Interlocuter” status in fight against Residential School Fake Graves Denialism

Special interlocutor hopeful new Justice Minister will act to address residential school denialism

Kimberly Murray, the independent special interlocutor on missing children, unmarked graves and burial sites associated with residential schools, says she has met with Canada’s new Justice Minister and hopes he will move to address “denialism.”

Ms. Murray, who was given a two-year mandate last year to work closely with Indigenous communities, released an interim report in June that detailed how “denialists” are attacking the communities that announce possible unmarked graves. “This violence is prolific,” the report said. “And takes place via e-mail, telephone, social media, op-eds and, at times, through in-person confrontations.”

The report included a call that “urgent consideration” be given to create legal mechanisms to deal with the problem, including “the implementation of both civil and criminal sanctions.”

Trudeau’s Liberals at third among younger voters must sting

Third, that’s where Justin Trudeau’s Liberals rank among voters born after 1979. Those are the shock numbers from the latest poll by Abacus Data that doesn’t offer any good news for Trudeau.

The poll numbers show a favourable trend, but I won’t discount the possibility of yet another LPC minority with Sell-Out Singh.

I bet lots of younger voters will believe Junior and Singh will buy them a new home.

When it comes to Toronto’s supervised injection sites, who’s in charge? Here’s what you need to know

A Toronto supervised consumption site has been in the spotlight after an employee was charged in connection with a fatal daytime shooting near the centre in July, spurring a provincial government review of all sites in the province.

But when it comes to who’s responsible for the sites, the answer is complex.

The federal, provincial and municipal governments are all part of a system of approvals, funding and oversight that allow the sites to operate. According to Toronto Public Health, there are 10 sites in the city and six of them — including the South Riverdale Community Health Centre (SRCHC) — are provincially funded consumption treatment services. Among the sites that are not provincially designated consumption treatment service locations, one is not open to the public, one is Toronto Public Health’s and another relies on donations.

San Francisco bakery refuses to sell to cops in uniform

Doughnut come here with a gun, a popular San Francisco bakery is warning police officers.

“NO COPS ALLOWED. That’s the confirmed policy of the bakery chain Reem’s,” the San Francisco Police Officers’ Association tweeted on August 24.

Chowtowners look on with envy.

High-level judges may have paid to meet Trudeau before their appointments

At least six current superior court justices may have paid to meet with the prime minister or the deputy prime minister at Liberal Party fundraisers shortly before being appointed.

These findings come in the wake of an earlier analysis by the National Post and the Investigative Journalism Foundation (IJF), which found that over three times as many Liberal party donors have been appointed to judicial office than Conservative donors since 2016.

The truth about Paris’s rat problem – and why its mayor blames climate change

As the City of Lights strives to become Europe’s ‘greenest’ city, its burgeoning rodent population is shocking tourists

It was an idyllic night a few summers ago. I had spent the evening with friends on the banks of the Seine, sharing a bottle of rosé in the balmy Paris heat. I unchained my bike, hopped on, and started to make my way home.

As I approached the huge courtyard in front of the Notre-Dame, I gazed up at the twin medieval towers, thinking how lucky I was to have this world-famous monument all to myself.

I was then shaken from my reverie by a sudden movement under my front wheel, and the brief but unmistakable feel of clammy fur.

There’s a video here, in French, but that is a lot of rats.

Despite Media Fearmongering, Survey Finds AfD Voters Are Not ‘Far-Right’

AfD’s surging popularity says more about the growing dissatisfaction with the political elite than about ‘extremism’ in Germany.

Rising support for right-wing AfD (Alternative für Deutschland) is not due to the ‘radicalisation’ of the country reported by most media outlets, but is a protest against the establishment’s unpopular policies, according to a new survey by the Allensbach Institut for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

Participants in the poll were asked questions about various issues to determine how ‘radical’ their views were. The results show that only 2% of participants were deemed to be on the hard right of the political spectrum and another 2% on the extreme left. Of the respondents, 12% were considered to be strongly on the right, and 7% were strongly on the left. Everyone else had centrist views or was moderately on the right or left.

Victim of Sexual Violence Appeals to Public in Effort to Prevent Parole for Perpetrator

‘He’s a serial child-kidnapping rapist and murderer,’ Kerri Kehoe says of pedophile who attacked her when she was 11

An Ontario woman who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted when she was 11 is rallying public pressure to keep the perpetrator in jail.

Kerri Kehoe was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and almost murdered by Richard Charles Joyce in 1990. The previous year, Mr. Joyce sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl with Down syndrome. He kidnapped another 9-year-old girl six months later, beat her, sexually assaulted her, and threatened to kill her and her mother.

France to ban female students from wearing abayas in state schools

Students will be banned from wearing abaya, a loose-fitting full-length robe worn by some Muslim women, in France’s state-run schools, the education minister has said.

The rule will be applied as soon as the new school year starts on 4 September.

France has a strict ban on religious signs in state schools and government buildings, arguing that they violate secular laws.

Wearing a headscarf has been banned in 2004 in state-run schools.

More proof carbon taxes make life more expensive

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claims he’s “making life more affordable” but his own government agencies continue to prove his carbon tax makes life more expensive.

“Nova Scotians saw prices at the pump increase by 14% in July compared with June,” Statistics Canada reported . “The introduction of the federal carbon levy in the province and higher wholesale prices contributed to higher gasoline prices.”

It’s not just Statistics Canada. Canada Revenue Agency shows the carbon tax currently increases the price of gasoline by 14¢ per litre, the price of diesel and home heating oil by 17¢ per litre and the price of natural gas by 12¢ per cubic metre.
