Jamie Sarkonak: American universities see end to affirmative action. Not so in Canada

As the United States backs away from affirmative action and embraces the notion of true equality, it’s hard not to reflect on the Canadian journey of racial handicapping in the name of equity.

On Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court released a 6-3 decision ending affirmative action in college admissions. A majority of the court concluded that the practice of boosting a potential student’s admissions score if they happened to be of a particular race violated the 14th amendment of the American constitution that guarantees “equal protection” under the law.

California Reparations Task Force calls for eliminating child support debt for black residents

The California Reparations Task Force is asking the Democrat-controlled state legislature to eliminate interest on past-due child support, as well as any back child support debt for black residents of the state.

In its final report released last week, the group claimed “discriminatory” laws “have torn African American families apart,” and that one effect of that is the “harms” caused by “the disproportionate amount of African Americans who are burdened with child support debt.”

Everything is now officially racist in sunny California.

Conservatives edge ahead of Liberals in voter support, breaking gridlock: poll

The gridlock between Liberal and Conservative supporters appears to have broken, new polling suggests, with the Tories edging slightly ahead.

In an Ipsos poll conducted exclusively for Global News and released Tuesday, 37 per cent of Canadians said they would vote for Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative Party, signalling a four-point jump since February.

Is it a surprise? The Cons won the popular vote in the past two elections which means absolutely nothing. So long as Trudeau and Singh can form a minority by winning where it matters nothing will change.

What can Canada learn from Australia’s bid to make big tech pay for news?

Canadian lawmakers are locked in a dispute with internet technology companies over a law that would compel them to pay news publishers for content, years after a similar regulatory saga played out in Australia.

On Thursday, Google followed Meta in announcing plans to block news for Canadian users now that the Online News Act has become law. It is expected to take effect later this year.

I don’t think this is a an overwhelming hardship for end users, but it’s likely not so good for the news organizations that may go out of business thanks to Junior.

This Woman Was a Popular Liberal Account on Twitter. She Also Never Existed.

In April, there was something was off with “Erica Marsh.” She seemed too stupid to be taken seriously, even though “she” had a viral series of tweets. Marsh established herself as a liberal account that got eyes, though many were undoubtedly hate clicks. If progressive America had to pick one account to be their voice on this platform, “Ms. March” would be the winner. If not, the deputy spokeswoman for her pervasive spewing of left-wing red meat catchphrases, talking points, and attacks.

France burns and multiculturalists yawn

Denial by the ruling classes and the cultural leftism that dominates in the media are largely responsible for the flames in France.

Those who warned Europe for years that this would happen have the feeling of a person sitting with his legs crossed, a cat on his knees, a bag of popcorn – and the view from the terrace of the burning city, living out his prophecies..

There are many images to remember of a new night of violence in France. There is the looting of an armory in the heart of Marseille, during which numerous pistols were stolen. Not a good sign for the future.

Police Station Set Aflame In Rouen

Most media and governments are mewling to the crocodile in the hope they’ll be eaten last. It’s all about “racism” and “poverty” with no mention of Islam.

Fdesouche has additional video of last night’s riot activity.

As Canada faces wildfires and smoke, is it ready for climate migrants?

The air in several major Canadian cities on Monday smells like burning campfires.

Air quality has plummeted during recent weeks because of wildfire smoke, made worse by the adverse effects of climate change in an “unprecedented” fire season. But as Canada battles environmental emergencies, advocates are asking if the country is ready to play its part in a global crisis of climate migrants.

Bud Light has been branded ‘desperate’ after releasing a new advert with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce in a bid to win back customers.

The embattled beer giant released a new 15-second spot on Sunday showing Kelce cracking open Bud Light cans and aggressively grunting with several other men.

The advert was a clear marketing U-turn after backlash to the company’s previous collaboration with trans star Dylan Mulvaney devastated the brand financially.

Ottawa Protest Organizer Previously Met With United Front Official in China

One of the directors of an organization that recently held a protest in Ottawa previously met with an official of China’s lead agency in charge of foreign influence, the United Front Work Department (UFWD). Key organizers of the protest have rallied some people in local Chinese Canadian communities to oppose the proposed creation of a foreign agent registry in Canada.

The group behind the June 24 protest on Parliament Hill, the Commission of Marking the 100th Anniversary of Chinese Exclusion Act, is a federally incorporated not-for-profit created on May 1.

Hey Frankie Champagne! How much did this tongue bath cost the tax payer?

Justin & Frankie Champagne

PARIS — At the Paris Air Show, under the piercing roars of fighter jet demos, Canada’s silver-haired, Canali-clad industry minister sells one executive after another on an unexpected pitch: Amid global disorder, boring is best for business.

“When everything is high risk, you go to Canada and it’s very stable and predictable. It’s very attractive,” said François-Philippe Champagne, a U.S.-educated corporate lawyer turned politician and now Ottawa salesman, zipping between air show meetings in a golf cart.

WTF? Frankie is being praised for being even more stupid with tax payer dollars than Americans.

The quiet revolt against veganism

People are turning their backs on this puritan ideology.

Have Brits finally had enough of veganism? Plant-based alternatives to meaty products have long been hailed as good for our health and for the planet. Vegan mince, vegan sausages, vegan bacon and vegan cheese seemed to be just about everywhere not that long ago. But now these products are quickly disappearing from supermarket shelves and from restaurant menus.

I had some “Vegan Cake” recently. It tasted like I imagined Soylent Green would.
