Rowan Atkinson: I love electric vehicles – and was an early adopter. But increasingly I feel duped

Electric motoring is, in theory, a subject about which I should know something. My first university degree was in electrical and electronic engineering, with a subsequent master’s in control systems. Combine this, perhaps surprising, academic pathway with a lifelong passion for the motorcar, and you can see why I was drawn into an early adoption of electric vehicles. I bought my first electric hybrid 18 years ago and my first pure electric car nine years ago and (notwithstanding our poor electric charging infrastructure) have enjoyed my time with both very much. Electric vehicles may be a bit soulless, but they’re wonderful mechanisms: fast, quiet and, until recently, very cheap to run. But increasingly, I feel a little duped. When you start to drill into the facts, electric motoring doesn’t seem to be quite the environmental panacea it is claimed to be.

Fight erupts at anti-Groomer protest outside L.A. school where trans teacher’s flag was burned

A fight erupted outside a North Hollywood elementary school Friday morning as more than 100 parents rallied against a Pride Day assembly, bringing to a head weeks of turmoil that saw a transgender teacher’s LGBTQ+ Pride flag burned.

Parents who said they were protesting against teaching elementary school children about LGBTQ+ people held up signs outside Saticoy Elementary School with messages that included “No pride in grooming,” “Parental choice matters” and “Leave our kids alone.” Across the street, about 100 counterprotesters gathered in support of LGBTQ+ rights and education.

The media is trying to paint this as anti-Gay when really it is about parents protecting their children from the child sexual mutilation fetishists.

What started as an appeal for tolerance has morphed into a demand that your children be sacrificed to please the desires of perverts.

Sodom and Gomorrah is trending on Twitter.

Walgreens debuts new ‘anti-theft’ store with just two aisles where customers can shop for themselves – the rest is locked up

A Chicago branch of Walgreens has been redesigned with just two aisles where customers may shop for themselves, the rest must be done via a kiosk.

The new ‘anti-theft’ store at at 2 East Roosevelt in downtown Chicago will trust shoppers to pick up ‘essentials’ for themselves in the two free aisles, but everything else must be ordered and picked up via a counter.

The store, which took weeks to construct, opened to mixed reviews on Tuesday.

Anyone remember Consumer’s Distributing or the old LCBO where everything was brought out from the back?

Michael Higgins: The state has no right keeping children’s gender identity secret from parents

The fact that this policy has been achieved by stealth and is so widespread is astonishing

In America there is a full-blown culture war over children and gender identity in schools while here education officials and bureaucrats subvert parental rights with barely a peep.

It is now official policy in Canada, though most people would scarcely know it, to keep parents in the dark if children come out as trans to teachers.

Still standing after 260m attacks: inside Ukraine’s cyber warfare squad

Experts thought Putin’s hackers would overwhelm the country at speed. They were wrong, Kyiv’s chief cyberwarrior tells Maxim Tucker

Just as the Russian missiles were closing on their targets, an alert flashed on the general’s screen. Kremlin hackers were already in the system of a regional power network under aerial attack.

Moscow was trying to pull the plug on two million Ukrainians, taking the energy grid apart from the inside while explosions rocked power stations and substations, fusing a virtual war with attacks from the air.

“The biggest attacks, the most critical attacks, are on the energy sector and other critical infrastructure, when the Russians are firing missiles at the same time, just like they did with the missiles we saw today,” Brigadier-General Yurii Shchyhol told The Times in Kyiv, a capital in the grip of a three-week Russian bombardment.

George Soros’s Son Met With Top Biden National Security Official Ahead of Major Foreign Meeting

The son of Democratic megadonor George Soros has met repeatedly at the White House with a top Biden national security adviser, a pattern that suggests the Soros family has used its high-level political access to promote both their domestic and international priorities.

Alexander Soros, chairman of the board of his father’s Open Society Foundations, has met five times with Principal Deputy National Security Adviser Jon Finer since December 2021, according to White House visitor logs. The most recent meeting was on Feb. 9, the same day President Biden hosted Brazil’s left-wing president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The younger Soros was accompanied by Pedro Abramovay, the director of Open Society’s Rio De Janeiro office and a former official in Lula’s previous administration.

China’s new aircraft carrier will be dangerously close to matching US capabilities

Back in mid-April, Chinese forces staged one of their biggest-ever war games rehearsing a surprise invasion of Taiwan. It’s not unusual for People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) and People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) aircraft to fly into Taiwan’s air-defence identification zone – a kind of unofficial defensive area – as a show of strength, and as practice for an actual attack.

What was unusual was the presence of an aircraft carrier. For the first time ever, a Chinese flattop – the four-year-old Shandong – joined the scores of fighters and bombers probing Taiwan’s defences.

What if Bernard Lewis was right about Iran?

What If Bernard Lewis was rIght about nuclear Iran welcoming Apocalypse rather than seeking deterrence?

In that case, he said that “mutual assured destruction, the deterrent that worked so well during the
Cold War, would have no meaning. At the end of time, there will be general destruction anyway. What will matter will be the final destination of the dead — hell for the infidels, and heaven for the believers. For people with this mindset, MAD is not a constraint; it is an inducement.” Bernard Lewis – The Wall Street Journal Aug. 8, 2006

Iran’s Mullahs are Twelvers waiting for the end of the world so it’s all the better if they can hasten its arrival.

The Capitol Police allegedly declare The Star-Spangled Banner a ‘protest’ song

With permission from and sponsorship by several South Carolina congressmen, the Rushingbrook Children’s Choir, which is headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, traveled to D.C. and assembled to perform The Star-Spangled Banner in the United States Capitol. Instead, the Capitol Police shut them down because (allegedly) they claim our national anthem is an illegal protest song. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) needs to bring these partisan pistol-carriers to heel.
