Ottawa betting big with $13B subsidy to secure Volkswagen deal. Here’s why

There’s nothing small about the $13 billion in subsidies that Canada has promised Volkswagen to secure the automaker’s first battery plant outside of Europe, but it remains to be seen whether the deal is enough to kick start the manufacturing sector’s future.

The rising sticker shock of establishing a manufacturing base for electric vehicles is, depending on who you ask, either a worthy investment to secure the next generation of auto assembly or a sign that Canada should consider giving up the subsidy race and not worry so much about the sector in general.

Pentagon video shows mysterious flying orb, says 650 UFOs are being tracked

The Pentagon has released rare declassified footage of an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) spotted in the Middle East last year.

The footage, shown before a congressional committee Wednesday as part of a defence update on UFOs (or, as the Pentagon calls them, UAPs – Unexplained Anomalous Phenomena) shows a small, spherical object that appears to shimmer as it quickly zips above houses and empty fields.

GTA rents hit record $3,000, creating a ‘very alarming’ situation … Trudeau’s mass immigration policy is paying off BIGLEY for his corporate cronies

Average rents in purpose-built apartments broke the $3,000 barrier for the first time in the first quarter of this year — the sixth straight quarter in which Toronto area rents have seen double-digit year-over-year increases, according to Urbanation.

The situation is “very alarming,” even though rent growth has moderated, said Shaun Hildebrand, president of the market research firm, on Thursday. Rents slowed to 13.8 per cent annual growth in the first quarter from 15 per cent in the final quarter of last year and 17 per cent in the second quarter of 2022. The figures apply to purpose-built apartments constructed since 1985.

Kremlin tries to build antiwar coalition in Germany, documents show

Berlin anti-war protest 2022

BERLIN — When 13,000 demonstrators gathered at the Brandenburg Gate on Feb. 25 to call for an end to weapons supplies to Ukraine, the protest was led by Sahra Wagenknecht, a member of parliament for Germany’s far-left Die Linke party and a firebrand with national ambitions. Wagenknecht decried the prospect that German tanks, soon to be delivered to Ukraine, could once again be used to shoot at “Russian women and men.”

Seems the Germans know how to organize their own.

Trudeau is the woke weak link in the West’s defences

The Canadian prime minister has arrogantly thumbed his nose at the rest of the free world for years

Say what you want about former US President Donald Trump, but his insistence that all 31 Nato member states meet a 2 per cent target of GDP spending on defence was wise. This simple, straightforward request ensured each member was firmly committed to playing an equal role in this important military alliance. They would defend the safety and security of democratic countries from rogue states and totalitarian nations as a strong, united and cohesive unit.

One Nato member apparently isn’t willing to pull up its bootstraps when it comes to meeting the defence spending target. Embarrassingly, it’s my country – Canada.

Ex-CIA chief spills on how he got spies to write false Hunter Biden laptop letter to ‘help Biden’

Joe Biden’s presidential campaign prompted former acting CIA director Mike Morell to “help Biden” by organizing 50 colleagues to sign a letter in October 2020 falsely claiming that damning emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop published by The Post were Russian disinformation.

In private sworn testimony, Morell told the House Judiciary Committee that Antony Blinken, now Secretary of State, was the senior campaign official who reached out to him “on or before” Oct. 17, 2020, three days after The Post published an email from the laptop suggesting Hunter had introduced his Ukrainian business partner to his father, then vice-president Biden.

‘A perfect example of what not to do’: Former U.S. envoy on Trudeau’s reported NATO comments

A former U.S. envoy to Ottawa says he’s concerned about what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reportedly said about Canadian defence spending.

David Jacobson, who served as Barack Obama’s ambassador from 2009 to 2013, says a recent Washington Post report could prove to be a setback for future U.S.-Canada relations.

The Post says Trudeau privately told NATO officials that Canada would never meet the military alliance’s spending target of two per cent of GDP.

Trudeau freeloads on Canadians, on his rich friends for vacations and foundation donations, it’s his lifestyle so its no wonder his neglectful governance reflects that.

He and his woke wrecking crew are destroying the CAF. That desecration will likely end up his legacy.

Shameful: Al Quds Day 2023 Hatefest Brings Antisemitism to Heart of Toronto

Al Quds Day Queens Park 2013

TORONTO – B’nai Brith Canada is outraged by, and fed up with, the latest Al Quds Day hatefest in Toronto.

Last Saturday, participants chanted genocidal slogans and speakers praised terrorists, creating a hostile environment for Jews in the streets of downtown Toronto, Canada’s largest city.

This will not get better. The GTA is now host to the largest Muslim population in North America, exceeding Dearbornistan.

The city is lost. Bad immigration policy will do that to a country.

Order up a Kumbaya Kool-Aid and enjoy one of the diverse restaurants that multiculturalism has brought us.

If they’ll serve you that is.

White House ‘meddles in Hunter Biden’s tax case’

The White House is trying to interfere with a criminal investigation into the tax affairs of President Biden’s son, according to a whistleblower.

An unnamed official at the Internal Revenue Service has asked congressional leaders for immunity if he testifies on Capitol Hill about the inquiry into Hunter Biden’s tax arrangements.

The investigation relates to the overseas business interests of the president’s 53-year-old son. Between 2014 and 2019 Hunter Biden served on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company, for which he was paid about $50,000 a month. He also has business interests in China. The president is not being investigated.

Update: Attorney General Merrick Garland is ‘senior’ Biden official in Hunter Biden IRS whistleblower claim

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Merrick Garland is the unnamed official whose sworn testimony before Congress is being challenged in a bombshell letter from an IRS whistleblower’s attorney that also alleges a coverup in the Hunter Biden criminal investigation, The Post has learned.

Attorney Mark Lytle wrote Wednesday that the longtime IRS employee wants to provide information to congressional leaders to “contradict sworn testimony to Congress by a senior political appointee” — Garland —and also to detail “preferential treatment” in the criminal probe of the first son.
