Covid pandemic sparked by accidental leak from Wuhan lab, US investigation concludes

The 300-page report into Covid origins finds leak was likely ‘unintentional resulting from failures of biosafety containment’

The pandemic was probably the result of a “research-related incident” at a laboratory in Wuhan, China, a lengthy US Senate report concluded.

It said the theory that Covid-19 jumped from animals to humans in a market no longer deserved the “presumption of accuracy”.

The 300-page report, released to Axios, was the full version of a 35-page summary published in October by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

Government funded media outlet lashes out after barbarian conservatives speak ill of another notoriously biased government funded media outlet CBC

Pierre Poilievre’s solution for a ‘broken’ Canada is to break more things — including the CBC

Pierre Poilievre appears to have divided this country into two nations. There’s the Canada that Justin Trudeau broke, and then there is the Canada that the Conservative leader himself wants to break.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation definitely falls into the want-to-break category. As Trudeau put it on Monday, Poilievre despises the CBC so much that he’s willing to join forces with Twitter’s mercurial new owner, Elon Musk.

“The fact that he has to run to American billionaires for support to attack Canadians says a lot about Mr. Poilievre and his values,” Trudeau said at a morning press conference.

Spoken by a tone deaf idiot whose circle line their pockets courtesy Communist China’s “Billionaires.”

Mob ransacks gas station store and steals thousands of dollars worth of alcohol, snacks and condoms during illegal street takeover

A massive mob ransacked a Los Angeles gas station and stole thousands of dollars worth of alcohol, condoms and snacks during an illegal street takeover – as cops said they were unable to intervene due to being outnumbered.

Footage from Sunday around 2am showed a group stopping traffic in the Compton intersection of Alondra Boulevard and Central Avenue to drift their cars before charging toward a nearby Arco.

Deputies said they couldn’t intervene as a mob of about 100 people broke the windows of a mini-mart and wiped it clean because they worried about their safety, according to ABC 7.

FBI finds Canadian link in covert Chinese police station probe

One of two men arrested for allegedly operating a secret police station for China in Manhattan had photographic evidence on his phone of the opening of a similar covert station in Canada, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation says.

Lu Jianwang, 61, and Chen Jinping, 59, were arrested Monday on charges of conspiring to act as agents of China’s government without informing U.S. authorities, and obstruction of justice.

Jamie Sarkonak: The Liberal undemocratic plan to let bureaucrats make law on the fly

A recent proposal by the Treasury Board of Canada would delegate lawmaking from Parliament and cabinet to the whims of public servants. If you care about democracy — the idea that you should be able to choose the people who make the rules, instead of giving that power to some functionally-anonymous civil servant — the proposal should concern you.

Portland’s REI to Close Due to Record Number of Break-Ins, Theft

On Monday, the outdoor fitness retailer REI announced it will close its only remaining store in Portland in February 2024.

The company emailed REI members to explain that the location could no longer guarantee the safety of employees and patrons, the local NBC outlet reported. Other major-chain stores throughout the U.S. have also closed, citing security issues, including a Whole Foods in downtown San Francisco last week and various Starbucks locations last year, including two in Portland.

FBI ordered to release documents about bureau’s response to NSBA letter

The FBI must comply with a Freedom of Information Act request seeking records about the bureau’s response to a 2021 letter from the National School Boards Association that labeled parent protesters domestic terrorists, a federal judge in Washington, D.C., ruled.

In the four-page order, U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden said last week that the Department of Justice had “dragged its feet” in responding to a FOIA request filed by the government watchdog group Protect the Public’s Trust that sought records from the FBI and other DOJ entities about their response to a September 2021 letter from the NSBA that requested the Biden administration and the DOJ investigate protests and threats against school board members under federal domestic terrorism laws.

Beyond TikTok: Let’s Talk About Another Chinese Trojan Horse

Unless you happen to live under a rock or on an oil rig, you’re no doubt familiar with TikTok, the Chinese-owned video sharing app that has been accused of being a Trojan horse for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The vast majority of Americans, according to recent Pew findings, now support a ban on TikTok. Some Democrats, however, believe a ban would be “racist.”

In truth, banning TikTok has absolutely nothing to do with racism. It is a matter of national security. Beyond the U.S., countries like France, Norway, and The Netherlands are pushing forward with plans to ban the app. In 2020, India imposed a nationwide ban on TikTok (as well as a number of other Chinese apps), citing privacy and security concerns. More recently, Taiwan imposed a public sector ban on the controversial app.

What the Palestinian Terrorist’s Mother Told Him…

When a teenager informs his parent that he intends to do something rash, any normal, responsible parent tries to dissuade him. “Don’t do something crazy just because your friends are doing it.” Or “But that will go on your permanent record.” Or “I’m not giving you the car keys if that’s where you’re going.”

But that’s not the response that 16-year-old Muntasir Al-Shawa got when he recently informed his mother that he intended to carry out a terrorist attack against Israeli Jews. Instead, she gave him tips on how to properly prepare himself to carry out the attack.

The Texas State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

Is anyone surprised by transgender homicide?

On March 27, a 28-year-old armed woman walked into a Presbyterian primary school in Nashville, Tennessee, and shot three children and three adults to death before being gunned down by police. The murderer was initially identified as Audrey Elizabeth Hale, but later the same day, having discovered that she considered herself to be a transgender male, local officials began referring to her by her last known name of choice, Aiden Hale.

The pantomime of pardoning witches

Their descendants are clinging on to past trauma

On the surface, there was nothing extraordinary about the lives of John and Joan Carrington. He was a carpenter in his late forties with a small estate, mostly eaten up by debts, in the town of Wethersfield in Connecticut. She was his wife and mother to their daughter, Rebecca, and son, John junior, from a previous marriage. But in February 1651, the couple was charged with “familiarity with Satan, the great enemy of God and mankind”, with whose power they had performed “works above the course of nature”. Both were found guilty, sentenced to death and hanged at Hartford.

The truth about racism in Britain

Is Britain racist? A major two-year study that set out to answer this question was published last week. It claims to be the most comprehensive account of racial inequality in the UK of the past quarter of a century. Its conclusion, the Guardian reports, is that Britain is ‘not close to being a racially just society’. Yet the data uncovered by the study suggest precisely the opposite – that Britain is not a racist country.
