‘They’re going to exploit it’: U.S. border chief on increased illegal crossings at U.S.-Canada border

Increased illegal crossings from Canada into the U.S. have not reached a crisis yet, but collaboration between the two countries’ border patrols can always be improved, according to the chief of U.S. border patrol.

Raul Ortiz spoke with CTV National News’ Richard Madan on Thursday about the issues patrolling the U.S.’s northern border amid staffing shortages and an increase in crossings.

Last year, there were more than 100,000 migrant encounters from Canada, according to Homeland Security, which is more than three times the amount recorded in 2020.

An author should be pleased to see his thesis bolstered by events. Yet since writing The Coming of Neo-Feudalism in 2020, I have not found any joy in the continued growth of the West’s class divides, as wealth becomes increasingly concentrated in ever fewer hands. The good news is that the working and middle classes are not yet out for the count, and are showing welcome signs of pushback against both state and corporate power.

… One of the reasons societies develop fairly strict conventions regarding sexual behavior is that the boundaries of potential sexual appetites go far beyond what is healthy or socially desirable.

Social norms put a lid on the unlimited appetites of human beings, which is a good and necessary thing.

As we have normalized extremely deviant sexual behaviors–usually within the rubric of the LGBTQIA++ movement–pedophiles have gained a lot of social space to experiment with and practice their desires. It’s easy to find without looking very hard. Just follow Libs of TikTok on Twitter and you will get a small taste of how the basest of desires are indulged in our society.

… The interference that should concern us is not something that happens to Canadian democracy, but rather the kind that happens with the collaboration of certain of its domestic participants.

The collaboration may be passive – winking at or acquiescing in foreign interference, rather than taking action against it. Or it may be active: taking orders, or receiving benefits, from foreign actors.

In the present crisis, we have been given plenty of evidence of both, thanks to a series of extraordinary intelligence leaks.

‘Deplorable conditions:’ Police rescue 64 Mexican nationals who were brought to the GTA and exploited for their labour

Diversity strikes again.

Police have arrested five people and have issued arrest warrants for two others following a months-long investigation into an alleged human trafficking ring that they say was enticing Mexican nationals into Canada with promises of a “better life” and then exploiting them for their labour.

The investigation, dubbed “Project Norte,” began in November after York Regional Police received a complaint from a single Mexican national about his work and living conditions in Canada.

How and where did they get across the Border?

The captives were transported to farms and factories to work. Why aren’t these locations named?

As far as I am concerned the Trudeau government is complicit in human trafficking.

Tennessee curbs trans treatment and drag for children

Tennessee’s governor has signed laws banning drag performances in front of children and restricting medical treatment for transgender youth.

Civil rights and LGBT groups vowed to sue to stop the medical treatment measure from taking effect on 1 July.

Violators of the new drag law, meanwhile, face nearly a year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500 (£2,100).

Governor Bill Lee enacted the laws as questions were asked about an old photo apparently of him in women’s clothing.

Multiple Ohio elementary school kids are facing assault charges after disturbing video caught the group of black students attacking white students — and forcing them to say “Black lives matter,” according to cops.

Footage obtained by WKEF showed a tall student grabbing a much smaller one around the back of the head and marching him across the Springfield playground, with another joining to hold the struggling victim.

Others joined in when he was taken to an area near swings — with one charging in and knocking the helpless youngster to the ground, seemingly throwing a punch.

Four overseas Chinese police stations reported to be functioning in various locations across Canada have now “ceased” operations, the RCMP says.

The RCMP’s deputy commissioner of federal policing Michael Duheme appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs on March 2, where he was asked by Conservative MP Raquel Dancho about overseas Chinese police stations reported to be functioning in different locations in Canada.

Dutch girl, 10, stable after Gothenburg stabbing by Mohammedan screaming Allahu Akbar – Bystanders subdue the usual “Mentally Ill” suspect

A 10-year-old Dutch girl who got stabbed in the stomach in Gothenburg city center on Thursday afternoon is in a “serious but stable” condition, the police said on Friday. The police have found no connection between the 35-year-old man in custody for the stabbing and the young victim or her family. The suspect has a criminal record and mental health problems, local media reported.

… According to the local broadcaster SVT, the suspect has several convictions on his criminal record, including for the aggravated robbery of a watch shop using an automatic rifle and for assaulting a fellow prisoner without provocation. The man has mental health problems, likely aggravated by drug addiction, the broadcaster wrote.

Poilievre attack on ‘folk hero’ Anderson risks helpful support for Tory Leader, says MP meeting organizer

Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre risks losing the backing of trucker convoy supporters for criticizing a controversial German politician considered a folk hero of the movement, says one of the organizers of a lunch with the politician attended by three Tory MPs.

“There’s a sense of betrayal and we feel used by Mr. Poilievre, to take the freedom convoy, freedom movement and use them for his own benefit,” Bethan Nodwell said in an interview on Thursday.

She said Mr. Poilievre has disrespected a “celebrated folk hero” cherished by convoy supporters, last week describing Christine Anderson’s views as “vile” and unwelcome in Canada. (link fixed)

New study casts doubt on effectiveness of COVID-19 border closures

A new study comparing data from 166 countries that closed their borders during the first 22 weeks of the pandemic says most targeted closures – aimed at travellers from COVID-19 hotspots – did little to curb the crisis.

By contrast, total border closures barring all non-essential travel did slow the spread of COVID-19, but at such a high cost that the writers warn they should only be considered in the future as a last resort.
