Anthony Furey: Beijing’s Election Interference Must Be Taken Seriously

There can be a tendency among the public to write off political scandals as nothing more than partisan infighting, and it’s often an understandable tendency.

These days politicians and their proxies turn every little misstep made by their opponents into the biggest of dramas, demanding inquiries and resignations for things that don’t even register in the minds of the public. Sometimes the noise that comes from political circles probably seems to people as just that, noise.

‘I was sexually assaulted by paedo-trans rapist in women’s jail’

A female prisoner today warns of the dangers of putting transgender inmates in women’s jails after she was sexually assaulted by a paedophile rapist behind bars.

Laura Goldsmith, 38, revealed how she fell prey to notorious sex offender Karen White in HMP New Hall in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

In chilling echoes of the shocking case of transgender double rapist Isla Bryson being placed in an all-female jail in Scotland, Laura told how White was allowed to carry out a campaign of abuse in plain sight after being placed in the jail despite not having surgery and boasted how she was not having hormone treatment.

Canadian military will get new tanks to replace Leopards going to Ukraine … sure they will

Canada will be purchasing additional tanks to replace the ones being sent to Ukraine, Defence Minister Anita Anand said.

Her comment comes on the heels of an announcement Friday that Canada will be sending an additional four Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine, bringing the total number of tanks being sent by the government to the embattled country to eight.

I have zero confidence in replacements ever being purchased in less than a decade.

COVID lab leak is a scandal of media and government censorship

The Wall Street Journal reports that the Energy Department has concluded that the COVID pandemic most likely arose from a laboratory leak.

The conclusion is reportedly based on a classified intelligence report recently provided to the White House and key members of Congress. Many will be exploring why the scientific evidence of a lab leak was so slow to emerge from intelligence agencies.

However, for my part, the most alarming aspect was the censorship, not the science.

Privy Council says a report assessing work of foreign interference panel sent to PMO

The Privy Council Office says an assessment of the work done by a panel tasked with flagging incidents of foreign interference during the 2021 federal election is now complete and has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office and the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians.

OTTAWA – An assessment of the work done by a panel tasked with flagging incidents of foreign interference during the 2021 federal election is now complete and has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office and the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians, the Privy Council Office has confirmed.

A Critical Election Incident Public Protocol created to monitor and report threats during the 2019 and 2021 elections is required to publish a post-election assessment of its work.

The 2019 evaluation came about seven months after the campaign held that year, but the 2021 report is still not available more than a year after Canadians went to the polls.

‘Blood will be on our hands:’ Sean Penn wants Biden to send F-16s to Ukraine

Sean Penn is unexpectedly fluent in Soviet aircraft.

After apologizing for his hoarseness — he had just come from a post-production sound session — the Oscar-winning “Milk” and “Mystic River” actor launched into a detailed comparison of Russian versus Ukrainian fighter jets.

“The Ukrainians are flying without guided missile systems. So, they actually have to get a visual on the Russian MiGs to shoot them down,” Penn said in a phone interview. “Whereas the Russian fighter jets can lock in, fire a guided missile from 100 kilometers out, then duck into safe airspace.”

Thank God for Hollywood.

Hannah Barnes: My Tavistock exposé scared off 22 publishers

When I walked into two central London bookshops on Thursday morning to discover that they had ordered several copies of my book, it was an extraordinary feeling. Writing a book is a unique experience: I had no idea what I was letting myself in for when I started. It is intense, gruelling, in my case sometimes distressing, and really quite lonely. It can seem unending and it is difficult to think that thousands of hours of work will ever result in something that strangers can buy online and in shops.

The Covid Truth Commission we all need

IN TCW on Friday Rupert Lowe, the former Brexit Party MEP and ex-chairman of Southampton Football Club, argued for the public right to know the truth about the Covid vaccines and that Parliament, rather than denying and vilifying Andrew Bridgen, should be leading the way in uncovering it.

His call chimed with two senior American scientists’ case for a Covid Truth Commission published on Tuesday in the New York Post. Like Lowe, Professor Martin Kulldorff and Professor Jay Bhattacharya believe the public deserve an awful lot better. Kulldorff is a professor of medicine at Harvard University (on leave) and Bhattacharya is a professor of health policy at Stanford University School of Medicine. Co-authors of the Great Barrington Declaration, both are founding fellows of the Academy for Science and Freedom, a Hillsdale College initiative to restore integrity and trust in science and public health. Both were mainstream but treated with scant regard by politicians; both have been subject to demonisation and silencing. Both were placed on Twitter ‘trends blacklists’, guaranteeing that few would hear their message when the government got the science wrong. Now they are speaking out again …

The Price of Anarchy in Seattle

The city pays $3.65 million to the victims of the ‘summer of love.’

Residents and businesses were victims of the riots that broke out in 2020 after George Floyd’s murder. On Friday Seattle settled for $3.65 million with locals who sued after the police abandoned the city’s East Precinct to mayhem.

The notorious Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, really an urban anarchy zone, operated from June 8 to July 1, 2020. Then-Mayor Jenny Durkan called it a “summer of love,” and last week the Seattle Times still insisted it was “mostly peaceful.” Yet the occupiers declared a no-cop zone, and Seattle restored control only after two murders and multiple shootings.

Disney, an empire in decline

The culture war is no place for cartoons and comic heroes

In 1453, Mehmed the Conqueror set out to do what no other Ottoman Sultan had done: capture Constantinople. The Byzantine Empire’s capital had been besieged numerous times, but had only been captured once before by Christians during the Fourth Crusade of 1204. For days, the Turks threw everything at the city, but the heavily fortified walls would not fall. Meanwhile, a strange debate was taking place inside the imperial city. Byzantine senators and philosophers were engaged in a heated debate: not about how to shore up their defences and protect the public, but something rather different: the sex of angels. Were they male or female? A few days later, the walls were breached and everyone was killed, effectively marking the end of the last remains of the Roman empire.

ChatGPT has sparked a struggle for AI’s soul

Elon Musk’s dream of using the powerful technology for good is being dashed as a rival tycoon turns it into a money-machine

Elon Musk grabbed the title as the world’s most famous artificial intelligence doom-monger years ago. Creating super-intelligent machines was akin, he once said, to “summoning the demon” and presented the, “biggest existential threat” to the human race. So concerned was the Tesla billionaire that in 2015, when this threat still felt very theoretical, he and a few other billionaires scraped together $1 billion to create a nonprofit dedicated to saving humanity.

The cancel-culture wood chipper goes for ‘Dilbert’

Whoops! Scott Adams is in trouble for expressing dismay that a Rasmussen poll showed that an ultra-minority of African-Americans (47% to be exact) do not think that “It’s OK to be White,” and therefore insisting that White people should consider “moving away from them.”

No violence. No armed revolt. No “supremacy” this and that. No racial slurs expressed. While only removing some of his emotive profanities, just consider moving away.

‘Blind chance’ or plot? Exhumation may help solve puzzle of 1933 Reichstag blaze

Tests carried out on remains of young communist who confessed to arson attack that proved a gift to Hitler

When flames enveloped Germany’s parliament on the evening of 27 February 1933, six days before national elections, it was a political gift to Adolf Hitler, the recently appointed chancellor. The arson attack on the Reichstag by an “enemy within” secured his re-election and gave him the pretext to grab the dictatorial powers he craved.

Whether that gift fell into the Nazi leader’s lap by chance or was placed there via a covert false-flag operation has been the subject of bitter historical disputes ever since. Now, 90 years later, the body of the young communist whom historians have traditionally regarded as the sole perpetrator of the attack has been exhumed in the hope of finding a definitive answer.

Governments Urged to Introduce ‘Climate Rationing’ of Meat & Fuel

Governments around the world are being urged to introduce World War II-style rationing of meat and fuel to tackle the alleged “climate crisis.”

Academics from the University of Leeds, England have conducted a new study to determine whether such rationing would help fight “climate change.”

According to the study, the rationing of various commodities, including fuel and meat, would help to create a “rapid reduction in global emissions.”
