The New York Times, self-proclaimed “paper of record,” waited more than 500 days before finally reporting it had authenticated critical emails from now-President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop.
The Times allowed the false narrative that the Hunter Biden laptop was somehow “Russian disinformation” to permeate the public debate for over a year when it had obtained evidence to the contrary, according to emails obtained exclusively by Breitbart News.
Germany approves Leopard 1 battle tank exports to Ukraine
Germany has approved the export of older Leopard 1 battle tanks, which would add to the raft of fighting vehicles Berlin promised last week it would send to Ukraine.
A spokesperson said on Friday that Olaf Scholz’s government had granted an export licence for the German-made tanks first produced in the 1960s and replaced within Germany’s own military by Leopard 2 tanks in 2003. Further details would be provided in the coming days and weeks, they said.

Amanpour matched her guest by bringing her own long-standing hostility to Israel and concurrent embrace of the Palestinian cause. The segment reached far beyond concern over the ideology of Israel’s new “right-wing” political coalition under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu into name-calling and support for extremism.

Anti-Ukrainian vandalism, harassment rising at Canadian universities, students say
Ukrainian students are facing an increase in anti-Ukrainian hate symbols and harassment on Canadian university campuses, student clubs say.
In an open letter published last Thursday, the Carleton Ukrainian Students’ Club described several incidents of anti-Ukrainian harassment that have taken place on the university’s campus since September 2022, including multiple reports of hate graffiti, an allegation of verbal harassment and an on-campus panel discussion which the club views as pro-Russian.
… In its own open letter, the University of Victoria Ukrainian Students’ Society alleged that some of its members were verbally accosted on campus and one member’s property was defaced with the word “Nazi.”
The club also said that members of the Young Communist League of Canada, another ratified club at the university, accused Ukrainian students of supporting fascism and antisemitism in a Facebook post.

Pentagon tracking suspected Chinese spy balloon over the US – entered via Canada
The US is tracking a suspected Chinese high-altitude surveillance balloon over the continental United States, defense officials said on Thursday, a discovery that risks adding further strain to tense US-China relations.
Pentagon spokesman Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder said the US government has been tracking the balloon for several days as it made its way over the northern United States, adding it was “traveling at an altitude well above commercial air traffic and does not present a military or physical threat to people on the ground.”
Speaking on background, a senior US defense official said senior military officials had advised President Joe Biden not to shoot it down due to fear the debris could pose a safety threat to people on the ground.

When finance ministers meet in Toronto today, they’ll hear both an update on the country’s economic outlook and a pitch from Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland on the need for a shared response to the competitive challenges posed by the United States.
“This is not a space where the federal government can act alone,” a senior government official told CBC News. “There are no guarantees of success and as a country we are going to need to up our game.”
The challenge comes primarily from the measures in the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act, which cleared the U.S. Congress last year. It includes uncapped tax credits designed to unleash investment to accelerate the transition to a cleaner economy south of the border.

San Francisco Sheriff Flooded With Concealed Carry Permit Applications
‘I was never a gun guy,’ the applicant said, ‘but it’s getting alarming.’
After receiving only a handful of applications for permits to carry a concealed weapon in the past decade, the city of San Francisco is being flooded with them as property crime skyrockets. Last week, the first of those applications was finally approved.
Following the Supreme Court’s ruling last year in the Bruen case, which made it easier for gun owners to get concealed carry permits, it is now much easier for residents of San Francisco to obtain a license to carry weapons in public. That right may be short-lived, however, as the state moves to rewrite gun laws to comply with the court’s ruling.
