I thought I would feel some relief when the social-media giants came to their senses and let Donald Trump back on their platforms. Yet now that it’s happened, now that Meta has decreed that Trump has served his time in the virtual wilderness and may once again post on Facebook and Instagram, I just feel unnerved. Unnerved by the extraordinary power these people wield over who may and who may not engage with the billions of souls who gather online. Unnerved by their supranational authority to grant or rescind a licence to speak in the global town square. Unnerved by the historically unprecedented dominion this small clique of the woke rich enjoys over the liberty to utter.

Chang Frick, who wore Putin T-shirt, paid admin fee for protest that has put Sweden’s Nato bid in doubt

A far-Right journalist with links to the Kremlin organised the Quran-burning stunt that has threatened Sweden’s attempt to join Nato.

Chang Frick, who has previously worked for Russia Today (RT) and sister agency Ruptly, paid the administrative fee for the demonstration outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm where Rasmus Paludan torched the holy book.

Mr Frick’s Twitter feed includes pictures of him posing in a Putin t-shirt and showing off a Putin calendar.

What the convoys left behind

In Ottawa, Wellington Street has always been an odd duck.

It’s the home address of Parliament, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Supreme Court of Canada, among other notables on the world’s most earnest celebrity-sightings map. It has some of the touristy pomp you’d expect of an official promenade, but it’s also an ordinary commuter artery. And so it’s possible to see Justin Trudeau climbing out of a tinted-window SUV on his way into his office while being delayed getting to your own, all on the same block.

Not at the moment, though.

Random attacks on transit. A city in profound decline. Is a safe subway really a fantasy too far?

Random: Anyone anywhere anytime.

Which is what stokes the fear in a city that feels evermore like it’s ripping apart at the seams — and in particular where strangers converge.

The vulnerability of public spaces, as wide as a subway platform, as narrow as a crosstown bus. A TTC shelter, a busy station in the middle of the day, a desolate station in the small hours of the night.

Not sure the rest of Canada gives a damn about TO, hell I live here and I don’t much care for the place. Voting Trudeau makes a body hate you.

‘Anti-woke’ Apache carnival float in Saxony puts left on war path

First came the green-faced sea king with his trident and his mermaid bride, followed by a man in a suit studded with pretzels and a troupe of raggedy clowns thwacking small children with folded fans.

Then there were the dignitaries in particoloured jesters’ hats, a paddle steamer on wheels and a phalanx of dancing girls in frilly tricorn hats.

It was, in other words, a perfectly normal German carnival parade . . . until the Apaches came along.

Psychedelic church asks panel to let it seek religious exemption for drug use

ATLANTA (CN) — An attorney for an Orlando church asked an 11th Circuit panel on Wednesday to overturn a Florida federal judge’s dismissal of its challenge to a Drug Enforcement Administration decision prohibiting the church from using psychedelic ayahuasca tea in its religious retreats.

Billing itself as a “spiritual learning and healing center,” Soul Quest Church of Mother Earth offers three-day retreats at its facility where participants can imbibe ayahuasca, a tea that contains the hallucinogen dimethyltryptamine, or DMT, in search of a religious awakening. For a $999 donation, Soul Quest Church extends participants the chance to join in on weekend retreat ceremonies to experience the “healing” attributes of the tea.

All five officers who were fired from the Memphis Police Department over the death of Tyre Nichols, who died following a ‘violent’ traffic stop, have been charged.

Each of the officers have been charged, though charges were listed for just three of them.

Justin Smith, Emmitt martin and Tadarrius Bean have been charged with two counts of official misconduct, one count of second-degree murder, official oppression, aggravated assault-act in concert and an additional two counts of aggravated kidnapping.

Loathed as one of America’s most despised traitors, we are reminded that Arnold once was the hero of Saratoga during the Revolutionary War, only to become a turncoat prepared to hand over West Point to the British.

During the last century there was Aldrich Ames, a former Central Intelligence Agency officer turned KGB double agent. Now serving a life sentence without parole, he did enormous damage to our national security while sending many American intelligence assets to their deaths in the Soviet Union. Alex Murdaugh cries as court plays bodycam footage of family murder’s aftermath

Alex Murdaugh cried during his murder trial Thursday as police bodycam footage was played in court – while the first police officer on the scene testified the disgraced legal scion appeared to have “no tears” when learning of his wife and son’s deaths.

The footage of the double murder’s aftermath, which was not shared with the broader public, was taken by Colleton County’s Sheriff’s Officer Daniel Greene, who was called as a witness.

After arriving at the family’s Islandton, S.C. home, Greene said he saw the bodies of Murdaugh’s wife Maggie and son Paul surrounded by pools of blood.

This is so bizarre.
