Gunfire damages North Carolina substation, no outage caused

RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina utility said an electricity substation was damaged by gunfire early Tuesday but that it caused no power outages.

The damage comes after a gunfire attack on multiple substations in Moore County knocked out power to more than 45,000 customers for several days in early December. There have been no arrests in those shootings.

While Gov. Roy Cooper said the attacks last month in central North Carolina raised “a new level of threat,” federal authorities and cybersecurity experts have long warned that the U.S. power grid could be a prime target for attacks.

Art professor sues after firing over Prophet Muhammad images

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Attorneys for an adjunct art professor said Tuesday she is suing the Minnesota university that dismissed her after a Muslim student objected to depictions of the Prophet Muhammad in a global art course, while the university admitted to a “misstep” and plans to hold public conversations about academic freedom.

In her lawsuit, Erika López Prater alleges that Hamline University — a small, private school in St. Paul — subjected her to religious discrimination and defamation, and damaged her professional and personal reputation.

“Among other things, Hamline, through its administration, has referred to Dr. López Prater’s actions as ‘undeniably Islamophobic,’″ her attorneys said in a statement. “Comments like these, which have now been published in news stories around the globe, will follow Dr. López Prater throughout her career, potentially resulting in her inability to obtain a tenure track position at any institution of higher education.”

What a travesty.

PBS is going full-throttle on climate change activism, with its CEO declaring that no greater threat exists today than global warming.

The federally funded broadcaster announced Monday it is launching an “unprecedented multi-year” programming effort focused on climate change, including multiple documentaries and a campaign to target students with “climate-focused content.”

What’s behind Canada’s drastic new alcohol guidance

People having fun. Not allowed in Canada.

In Canada, it should be Dry January all year round, according to new national recommendations that say zero alcohol is the only risk-free approach.

If you must drink at all, two drinks maximum each week is deemed low-risk by the government-backed guidance.

The advice is a steep drop from the previous recommendation, published in 2011.

Those guidelines allowed a maximum of 10 drinks a week for women and 15 drinks for men.

We need a party that will rid us of government.

GTA Convicted Via Rail terrorist argues psych report could overturn verdict

One of the men convicted in a high-profile terrorism case involving a plot to derail a Via Rail train wants access to a psychiatric report about his co-accused, arguing that its findings could result in him having his convictions overturned.

It’s an argument that has “merit,” according to Ontario’s top court, which is now weighing whether to turn over the report.

Raed Jaser and Chiheb Esseghaier were tried together and convicted by a jury in 2015 of a number of terrorism-related offences, though only Esseghaier was found guilty of conspiring to derail the Via Rail passenger train from New York to Toronto. Jurors deadlocked on that charge in relation to Jaser.

This is the sort of bullshit one comes to expect of our justice system.

They’ve ‘outdone even their wildest dreams’: Canadian billionaires saw wealth jump 51% during pandemic

While many Canadians struggled and saw their financial health deteriorate during the pandemic, the rich got richer.

A new report by Britain’s Oxfam International found that Canadian billionaires saw their wealth grow by a staggering 51 per cent since the pandemic began.

“This accelerated a trend that was already driving wealth inequality in Canada over the past decade,” Oxfam Canada reported.

Bearing in mind that this is a report from the very rapey folks at Oxfam there is no question we are in a new era of the Robber Baron.

Canada is looking more like a crony capitalist kleptocracy every day under Junior.

Quebec taking dwindling share of immigrants to Canada, according to new data

OTTAWA – Quebec is taking a dwindling share of Canada’s new immigrants, and significantly less than its proportional national share, as it maintains tight caps on newcomers, even as the Trudeau government continues to open the floodgates to more immigration nationally.

… But Quebec brought in 68,820 people, roughly 15.7 per cent of the immigrants to Canada, despite the province representing nearly 23 per cent of Canada’s population.

By contrast, Ontario took 184,000 newcomers in 2022, 42 per cent of the total who came to Canada, even though Ontario represents 38 per cent of Canada’s population. And British Columbia welcomed more than 61,000 people, almost as many as Quebec did, despite B.C. having a population that is 3.5-million people fewer than Quebec.

The government is never your friend but in Canada they are an outright enemy. Canada’s immigration policy is designed to benefit the Corporate class.

That you and your family may suffer due to shortages in housing, medical care and  economic insecurity is brushed aside assuming it was even taken into consideration.

Our mainstream political parties, the LPC, CPC and NDP are all in on the scam hoping to harvest ethnic vote blocs.

The Liberals outsourced Canada’s immigration policy to Dominic Barton and McKinsey & Company.

They just don’t care about you or the havoc mass immigration has on our society.

A growing number of patients who request medical assistance in dying are asking to donate their organs for transplant, says an international review that found that Canada is performing the most organ transplants from MAID patients among the four countries studied that offer this practice.

The report is the first-ever review of the growing use of this new practice around the world. The review was conducted in 2021 and the results were formally published in December 2022.

“We saw everyone is working in different directions. And then we said ‘OK, well, let’s start an international (discussion) of all the countries involved,’” said Dr. Johannes Mulder, a physician and MAID provider in Zwolle, Netherlands, in an interview with CTV News.

When conservatives pushed back last week on a Democratic plan to ban gas stoves , the Left and its media allies jumped into action. We were told that no one is banning gas stoves and also that said stoves should be banned . Oh, and that this is just another conspiracy theory cooked up by conservatives for their culture war.

Now let’s fly over to Davos, Switzerland , for the World Economic Forum.

Media outlets are now labeling the forum’s “Great Reset” ideas for post-pandemic growth as a bizarre conspiracy cooked up by online trolls. One problem? It’s actually very real. The Great Reset has been a focal issue for the WEF and its global allies for years now. Still, the media are attempting to neutralize any criticism of the WEF or its ideas and tactics — or its leader, Klaus Schwab, a man who looks like he should be running around an ’80s action movie screaming about “Diplomatic Immunity!”
