Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is defending his criticism of programs that offer a “safer supply” of drugs to Canadians with addictions as a tool to tackle the opioid crisis, saying he believes these programs are “perpetuating indefinitely” people’s addictions.
In a radio interview with Alex Pierson on 640 Toronto that aired Tuesday, Poilievre says his recent criticism of safe supply programs was “widely misrepresented by the critics.”
Charges laid against pastor Artur Pawlowski for failing to comply with an order under the Public Health Act were stayed by the Crown on Dec. 16.
Pawlowski, of Calgary’s Street Church, was charged for attending an outdoor Walk for Freedom protest in Calgary on Dec. 13, and for feeding the homeless with his church on the same day, allegedly in breach of then-Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) Dr. Deena Hinshaw’s orders that “private social gatherings” were prohibited.

Ballots reviewed in Wednesday’s examination of ballots cast in Maricopa county for November’s gubernatorial elections were not valid, according to Republican Candidate Kari Lake’s legal team. A tweet from the Lake War Room said that 48 of 113 ballots reviewed during the examination were “19-inch ballots produced on 20-inch paper,”

What liberty to voice criticism do we have left in the West?
Criticize Islam? It depends on how brave you are.
Criticize mass immigration? If you are ready to parry the thunderbolts of the bienpensants.
Criticize Greta and the absurdities of the ecological movement? If you agree to pass for irresponsible. Criticize cancel culture? If you can eat without conformism.
We had one issue over which we were free of criticism, a very banal one, and if they hadn’t questioned us we wouldn’t even have noticed that it was a freedom. It was remembering that you are born male or female. The year 2022 will be remembered as the year in which we practically lost that freedom and were forced to swallow a candy-colored dogma that now dominates our lives.

From Kanye West endorsing Hitler to Kyrie Irving inviting followers to watch a documentary about how blacks are the true Jews, anti-Semitism from prominent black figures has been in the news. A recent study explores the phenomenon of black anti-Semitism more broadly, ruling out popular explanations—and excuses—for its frequency.
Black anti-Semitism is nothing new. It has appeared in the works of black intellectuals since at least the early-20th-century black nationalist Marcus Garvey, as Elliot Kaufman observed in Commentary, and defined politics in New York City—the American metropolis where blacks and Jews most often rub shoulders—for generations.
The more U.S. and allied military power is based on and along these island chains, the more readily China can be contained in the western Pacific.
Thirty years ago, as the post–Cold War era dawned, the United States formally transferred control of the U.S. Naval Base Subic Bay to the Philippine government. The Washington Post reported on Nov. 24, 1992, that the transfer ended 94 years of U.S. military presence in the archipelago. The previous year saw American air forces depart from Clark Air Base. The United States seized the Philippines from Spain after its victory in the Spanish–American War in 1898. Proponents of the philosophy of relativism claim to believe that there is no truth; you have your beliefs and I have mine. And it seems as though we are seeing Benedict’s warning come to pass in Canada.

Britain remains a successful multi-ethnic, multi-faith society. But 2022 served up several brutal reminders of how quickly social cohesion can unravel under the impact of the divisive ideology of multiculturalism.
The disorder in Leicester during August and September, in which groups of largely Hindu and Muslim men fought each other for days on end, was particularly troubling. It could prove a watershed moment for community relations in modern Britain.
