PEOPLE’S COMMISSION: Prejudices and bigotry inflicted by some convoy occupiers remain, McKenney says

While “Freedom Convoy” occupiers left Ottawa months ago, the prejudices and bigotry that some of them inflicted on Centretown residents remain, Somerset Ward’s former councillor told an Ottawa People’s Commission hearing Saturday.

“The amount of transphobia that’s been left behind and racism in this city can be felt every single day,” said Catherine McKenney, who uses the pronouns they and them.

It’s a shock this woman wasn’t elected Mayor of Karenopolis.

The bombing of the Pan Am flight 103 killed 270 people in Britain’s largest terrorist attack

The man accused of being the bombmaker in the Lockerbie terrorist attack that killed 270 people is now in US custody, Scottish authorities have said.

The bombing of Pan Am flight 103, travelling from London to New York on December 21 1988, killed all 259 passengers and crew on board. A further 11 people died in Lockerbie when the wreckage destroyed their homes.

Abu Agila Mohammad Mas’ud Kheir Al-Marimi was said to be the “third conspirator” behind the downing of the flight in 1988.

Higher Percentage of Excess Mortality Among Younger Canadians Since Pandemic, but Cause Not Mainly COVID-19

While it has been mostly older people with comorbidities who have died from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, it has been younger Canadians who have experienced the highest percentage of excess mortality, according to data from Statistics Canada.

Excess mortality takes place when more people die during a given period than normally expected based on trends.

Data provided by Statistics Canada analyzed by The Epoch Times shows that since March 2020, there were on average 7 percent more deaths than expected for all ages.

President’s drug-and-hooker loving-son plots defamation suits against Fox News, Eric Trump and Rudy Giuliani

A team is preparing to defend Hunter Biden against an expected onslaught of investigations by House Republicans.

Allies of the president’s son gathered for a private strategy session last September in California where they discussed going after Hunter’s accusers and critics with defamation lawsuits, according the Washington Post.

Hunter’s attorney and friend Kevin Morris suggested at the meeting the suits be filed against Fox News, Eric Trump and Rudy Giuliani, along with a probe into the repairman who handed over his laptop.

U.S. envoy pats Junior on head, hails Canada’s pivot on China, says Ottawa has ‘woken up’

The U.S. ambassador to Canada is hailing what he calls a pivot on China policy: Ottawa has woken up, he says, to a pressing geopolitical challenge.

David Cohen acknowledges there were worries in Washington about whether Canada was too chummy with China, noting it even came up last year in his Senate confirmation hearing.

But the U.S. envoy says those concerns are being put to rest by Ottawa’s latest moves: pushing Chinese state-owned companies out of Canadian mines, cancelling a contract for RCMP communications equipment and studying the creation of a foreign agents list.

Only a fool would trust Junior.

Roach-infested Detroit Popeyes shut down over DoorDash driver video

Do you want bugs with that?

A Detroit Popeyes location temporarily closed its doors this week after a DoorDash driver filmed cockroaches crawling over to-go orders at the restaurant, WXYZ Detroit reported.

The delivery driver was waiting to pick up orders at the fried-chicken chain when she noticed the bugs crawling all over the counter, including on straws.

Is there such a thing as a clean fast food joint?

The Trudeau government’s plan to eliminate plastic waste in Canada by 2030 is underway in earnest with the gradual elimination of single use plastics.

As of Dec. 20, the manufacture and import for sale in Canada of plastic checkout bags, cutlery, takeout containers, stir sticks and most plastic straws (with some exemptions for flexible ones) will be prohibited. The sale of these items in Canada will end a year later.

Parent Groups Concerned Over Ontario ‘Gender Affirming Health Care’ Bill

Four NDP MPPs have introduced a bill seeking to expand the availability of “gender-affirming health care” in Ontario. It would mandate the creation of an advisory committee including representatives of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) to advise the health minister on how to proceed.

The bill, Gender Affirming Health Care Advisory Committee Act, had its first reading on Nov. 16. Since then, two parent groups have responded with concern—one with a Dec. 5 letter to the legislature criticizing the bill and another with a petition against it.

Hundreds of homemade, rickety boats have left this year from the shores of Baracoa, a fishing village west of Havana where Mr. García, 34, lives — so many that locals call the town “Terminal Three.”

Eva Kaili, Senior Euro Parliament Lawmaker, arrested over ‘bags of cash’ after speaking up for Qatar

A Greek vice-president of the European Parliament and four Italians have been arrested in Brussels by police as part of an investigation into claims the Qatari government has been trying to buy influence in the EU.

Belgian media claimed “bags of cash” had been found at the home of Eva Kaili, 44, who is a member of Greece’s left-wing Pasok party and one of the chamber’s 14 vice-presidents. The public prosecutor’s office will decide tomorrow whether the five — including a former Italian MEP and a man thought to be Kaili’s partner — will continue to be held in custody. It is not known whether they are suspects.

During a press conference in Tehran on 3 December, Iran’s Attorney General, Mohammad Javad Montazeri was asked by a journalist what had happened to the country’s morality police, which have been strangely absent from Iran’s streets. Clearly irritated by the question, Montazeri snapped that the morality police had nothing to do with the judiciary and they had been ‘abolished’ by the same body that had installed them. The word he used could also be translated as ‘suspended’ but the implication that the force had been in some way removed was seized upon by international journalists that something was beginning to give in the Islamic Republic. But as is often the case with the Islamic Republic, it is always worth pausing and reading the small print before rushing to judgement.

Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary is putting the Royal family at risk from extremists, the former head of royalty protection has warned.

Security expert Dai Davies, a former divisional commander in the Metropolitan Police, who guarded Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the Royal family, said the couple had raised a “credible threat” by attacking their relatives on race grounds.

“There’s a small minority that think Meghan walks on water,” he said. “I’ve always said there’s a greater risk from fixated individuals than there is from terrorists.

Concerns are mounting in the U.K. about the number of Ukrainian refugees ending up homeless as their initial sponsorships come to an end.

“Hello, I need a help,” one Ukrainian refugee posted in the Facebook group Homes for Ukraine.

My sponsor won’t let me and my mom live with him anymore. It happened abruptly, and I don’t know what to do. I’m looking for renting room for not big money, as soon as possible 🙏One more thing, we have a cat. I would be thankful for any information. Thank you.

According to recent government data, 2,985 Ukrainians are already homeless.
