Or the millions battling crippling financial hardship in a devastating cost-of-living crisis that has swept the globe.
OTTAWA – Seven members of a parliamentary committee studying the Liberal gun bill have requested two special meetings to hear from witnesses on the government’s proposed definition of an assault-style firearm.
The definition, put forward by the government as an amendment, has prompted confusion and controversy as MPs go over Bill C-21 clause by clause.
The seven Liberal, Bloc and New Democrat MPs want clarity on the amendment amid concerns that the measure would outlaw many firearms commonly used by hunters.

As a physician who has watched the pandemic unfold on chest X-rays and CT scans, I’ve seen the many waves of COVID wreak havoc on my patients. I have tried my best to speak over the cacophony of misinformation on social media to paint a realistic picture of what’s been happening in our hospitals, in the hopes of encouraging vaccination and accurate risk assessment. But sadly, I’ve come to the realization that not even the unyielding reality of ebbing COVID cases will quiet the voices of committed alarmists on social media.
For there to be blasphemy there needs to be religion and, in this case, I am referring to the religions of identity politics and climate-change activism. These are not merely religions, however; they are the religions of fanatics.
“But we don’t have blasphemy laws,” I hear people say when someone protests about some perceived slur on their God or Prophet. Indeed, we do not. Essentially moribund, they were abolished in England in 2008 and in Scotland in 2021. If we did, our prisons would be overflowing with the people who blaspheme against Christianity. Appropriately, British blasphemy laws only ever protected Christianity and, even then, only the Christianity of the established churches. However, the lack of such laws did not protect the right of the public to watch a film of which some Muslims disapproved or a teacher from having to go into hiding with his family for showing a cartoon they did not like. In France, the consequences for upsetting the Islamist mob can be more serious, and even fatal. Islamic extremists require no laws to discourage blasphemy; they simply take the law into their own bloody hands.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A judge unsealed a dropped bomb threat case Thursday against the Colorado gay bar shooting suspect who threatened to become the “next mass killer” over a year before allegedly killing five people and wounding seventeen others at the LGBTQ enclave Club Q.
Judge Robin Chittum said the “proufound” public interest in the case outweighed the privacy rights of defendant Anderson Lee Aldrich. The judge added that scrutiny of judicial cases is “foundational to our system of government.”
“The only way for that scrutiny to occur is for this to be unsealed,” she said.

Los Angeles, a Democratic Party bastion of supposed left-wing tolerance and enlightenment, saw hate crimes increase by 23% in 2021 to their highest levels in two decades, according to a new local government report.
The House Committee on Ethics released a statement Wednesday that Democrat Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) is under investigation for ethics violations.
