Canadian politicians as foreign agents

It’s alarming to hear public accusations from a prominent source that there are Canadian politicians being paid by foreign governments. Yet that’s exactly what a former senior figure at the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) told Parliamentarians last week.

Michel Juneau-Katsuya discussed the matter at a hearing of the House of Commons ethics committee, claiming outright that: “There are elected officials at all levels whether it’s municipal, provincial or federal who are being paid by foreign governments and who are not necessarily acting in the interests of Canada.”

Arresting the Liberal Government would solve most of this problem.

Ukraine hits Russian Wagner mercenary HQ in east

Ukrainian artillery has struck a headquarters of Russia’s shadowy Wagner paramilitary group of mercenaries in eastern Ukraine, reports say.

The attack in Popasna was reported by Serhiy Hayday, Ukrainian governor of Luhansk region, and several pro-Kremlin war reporters.

The number of casualties is not clear and details remain sketchy. Photos said to show the damage were posted on the Telegram messaging service.

Wagner has been linked to war crimes.

US kept Britain in dark over deal that led Taliban back to power

The white flag with its black Arabic lettering flies everywhere in Kabul. The symbol of the Taliban’s triumph flutters on the American Humvees in which long-haired fighters cruise around sporting purloined Oakley sunglasses and M16 rifles; above Aimuddin’s ice-cream shop in the bazaar; atop Wazir Akbar Khan hill.

One year after the takeover it is hard to absorb the fact that 20 years of international efforts to reinvent Afghanistan at a cost of a trillion dollars and tens of thousands of western and Afghan lives lost, led only to the Taliban returning to power.

In and done from now on. No more bothering with “nation building” which seems to be code for plundering the tax payer.

‘Where Is the Media?’: Persecution of Christians, June 2022

The Muslim Slaughter of Christians

Nigeria: On Pentecost Sunday, June 5, terrorists stormed the St. Francis Catholic Church in Ondo and massacred about 50 Christians who were peacefully worshipping their God. Videos, according to one report, “showed church worshippers lying in pools of blood while people around them wailed.” Western media presented the attack as a baffling aberration for Nigeria, arguing, as the AP did, that “It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack on the church.” Not once did the AP even mention the words “Muslim,” “Islam,” or “Islamist,” in their determined attempt to ignore the fact that Islamic terrorists have routinely stormed churches and slaughtered many Christians over the years in Nigeria— for instance here, here, and here.

On Sunday, June 19, exactly two weeks after the St. Francis Church attack, motorcycle-riding Muslims raided two other churches in Nigeria: the Maranatha Baptist Church and the St. Moses Catholic Church.

The Rushdie Attack

The man suspected of the attack on Salman Rushdie, Hadi Matar, grew up in the United States and was born nine years after Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini issued his notorious fatwa. Little else is known of him, though some people acquainted with him earlier in his life have told reporters that (as is often the way in such cases) that they were surprised by his action, for he seemed a normal and friendly person.

If Matar’s profile is confirmed, it will demonstrate once again the effect that a violent, aggressive, and totalitarian ideology may exert on people, though the question remains as to whether ideologies choose men, or men choose ideologies. No doubt a dialectical relationship exists between personality and ideology.

Is America burning? Depends who you ask

Those who read only the NYT or watch the likes of CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS don’t know much about Hunter Biden, illegal migrants and such

For some, the raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home is further proof that America operates on a one-party system…run by the Democrats.

The Democrats, they say, have a free hand to do whatever they want by reason of their ownership of Congress, the White House and the media.

Who says this? Mostly people who get their information from Fox News and the New York Post.…which provide news reliably accurate.

In basketcase Britain, thieves run riot while woke police forces do nothing

An 11-year old boy was recently called “shorty” by another boy on the street. As far as children’s taunting goes, this was fairly mild; further up the cruelty scale might merit some kind of disciplinary intervention from a parent, teacher or another allegedly responsible adult. What it almost certainly wouldn’t require is police action. Or at least it wouldn’t in the days before the world went mad.

Back in June, however, a Wiltshire police officer opened a “non-crime hate incident” file on the aggressor, also 11, for his jibe. Absurdly, the report could now appear in the kid’s criminal record checks for the next six years, hampering later employment opportunities and surely making him the sort with more, not less, time and inclination to bully others.

Naive Westerners still refuse to accept the truth about Iran’s evil regime

On Monday, the EU put forward what it described as the “final” proposed text of a revived nuclear deal with Iran, a deal which has been under negotiation in Vienna since the arrival of Joe Biden in the Oval Office. On Friday morning, the Iranian state news agency reported that the EU’s proposed text “can be acceptable if it provides assurances” to Tehran over its key demands, quoting a senior Iranian diplomat.

The timing could hardly have been more instructive. Within hours of that report, Sir Salman Rushdie had been brutally attacked by a knife-wielding assailant.

Why eco-alarmists are wrong about almost everything

The Great Barrier Reef is not dying, and the world is not coming to an end.

So it turns out that reports of the Great Barrier Reef’s death were greatly exaggerated. For years we were told that this glorious coral reef off the coast of Queensland was being slowly strangled by mankind. The Guardian even published an obituary. It was literally titled ‘The Great Barrier Reef: an obituary’. ‘[The] seeds of the reef’s destruction are well embedded’, it declared. And we all know who was to blame for this ‘destruction’: marauding mankind. It’s always us. Shipping, the transformation of the reef into a tourist hotspot and, of course, Queensland’s evil coal industry have been on a ‘collision course’ with this natural wonder for decades, we were told. ‘Climate change is killing the Great Barrier Reef’ – that was the frank, scary verdict in 2017.

Biden Administration Stonewalls Inspector General on Afghanistan on Terror Cash

In June, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction’s office (SIGAR), dispatched letters to Secretary of State Blinken and Samantha Power complaining that the State Department and USAID were stonewalling its investigation of waste, corruption and terror cash.

“Two SIGAR audits are also being hindered by a lack of cooperation from State and USAID. The first evaluates your agencies’ compliance with the laws and regulations prohibiting transfers of funds to members of the Taliban and the Haqqani Network,” the letter to Power complained.

Thousands of Russians have flocked to Europe on short-term visas since the country invaded Ukraine. Some sought an escape from repression, while summer has brought Russian tourists just looking to escape to the beach. Now some European politicians are calling for an end to the short-term visas that allow Russians to holiday in the EU as the war in Ukraine rages on.

Countries including Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Finland and the Czech Republic have called for the EU to limit or block short-term Schengen visas for Russians, in protest at their country’s invasion of Ukraine.

UK University ‘forces out’ diversity adviser for supporting bullied professor who resigned after threats from trans activists

“Far-Left” university bosses have been accused of forcing out their own diversity adviser after staff protested that criticism of transgender activism was “threatening”.

The equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) adviser at the University of Sheffield had been employed for more than two years working on LGBT+ inclusion and a race equality action plan.

But in October last year, his colleagues from a trade union complained to managers about him signing a “statement of solidarity” with Prof Kathleen Stock, the philosophy expert who quit the University of Sussex after a lengthy bullying campaign by trans activists.
