The Hanover County Public School district in Virginia on Wednesday apologized for the logo of their Unified Professional Learning Conference, which was supposed to be all about promoting “equity,” that is, the Left’s privileging of its favored groups. Instead, the logo strongly resembles the official emblem of Adolf Hitler’s National Socialist (Nazi) Party. Jewish organizations have protested, and aghast district officials have hastily withdrawn the logo and apologized. They have the usual Leftist blind spots, and those blind spots are showing.

Black Buffalo man charged for Twitter threat to Black shoppers
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A Black resident of Buffalo, New York, told investigators he anonymously tweeted out a fake threat to commit mass killings against Black people in his community, days after a real mass shooting, because he wanted to see if racists would cheer him on, according to federal prosecutors.
The U.S. Attorney’s office said Thursday that the suspect, 24, said in a May 16 post that he and “associates” would target Black people at area grocery stores — two days after a white gunman from Conklin, New York, opened fire at a Tops Friendly Market and killed 10 people.
He “stated that the purpose of the post was to see what everyone would say and if anyone would agree with him,” according to an FBI agent’s affidavit supporting the charge.

Some social conservatives view the massive influx of new Conservative Party members as an “opportunity” to strengthen their movement’s influence within the party.
It remains to be seen, however, how successful “socon” groups will be at recruiting from the roughly 400,000 new members the party claims to have signed up over the current leadership race – or how beholden the likely next leader, Pierre Poilievre, will be to the faction.

Amnesty Accuses Ukrainian Forces Of Endangering Civilians, Sparking Angry Response From Kyiv
Ukrainian forces have been accused by Amnesty International of endangering civilians by basing themselves in residential buildings, schools, and hospitals, sparking a strong response from Kyiv.
Amnesty International Secretary-General Agnes Callamard said the group’s researchers documented “a pattern of Ukrainian forces putting civilians at risk and violating the laws of war when they operate in populated areas” as it released its report on August. 4.
The report, which the Kremlin and Russian media have already quoted extensively, is an attempt to “shift responsibility from the aggressor to the victim,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in his nightly video address.

CDC Claims Link Between Heart Inflammation and COVID-19 Vaccines Wasn’t Known for Most of 2021
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has claimed that there was no known association between heart inflammation and COVID-19 vaccines as late as October 2021.
CDC officials made the claim, which is false, in response to a Freedom of Information Act request for reports from a CDC team that is focused on analyzing the risk of post-vaccination myocarditis and pericarditis, two forms of heart inflammation. Both began to be detected at higher-than-expected rates after COVID-19 vaccination in the spring of 2021.
Status of Canadian deal to buy artillery shells for Ukraine is uncertain
Canada is in discussions with arms companies to obtain further equipment for Ukraine but it’s unclear whether a critical deal to purchase 100,000 rounds of artillery ammunition for that country will proceed.
Canadian officials have been talking with their counterparts in South Korea to acquire the 155-millimetre artillery ammunition, this newspaper reported in late May. Canada would then provide those 100,000 rounds of ammunition to Ukraine, which has been warning for the last month that it is running out of artillery shells.

The report, which was published by the Globe and Mail on Tuesday, cited three sources who alleged that Global Affairs Canada received intelligence confirming Russia’s intention to wage war against Ukraine — and that Ukrainian staff at Western embassies were among those on likely Russian hit lists.
Canada lost 31,000 jobs last month, the second straight monthly decline
Canada’s economy lost 30,600 jobs in July, Statistics Canada said Friday.
It’s the second month in a row of lost jobs, coming on the heels of 43,000 jobs lost in June.
Most of the losses came in the service sector, which lost 53,000 positions. That was offset by a gain of 23,000 jobs in goods-producing industries.
Kitchener man pleads guilty to threatening Trudeau
KITCHENER — A Kitchener man has pleaded guilty to threatening Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during a raucous campaign stop in Cambridge last year.
The man, in his early 30s, pleaded guilty in Kitchener court on Thursday and will be sentenced on Oct. 20.
Waterloo Regional Police previously said they began an investigation into alleged threats made toward Liberal leader Trudeau during an Aug. 29 campaign stop at VeriForm Inc. in Cambridge.
Montreal Gunman Abdulla Shaikh deemed a “significant risk to public safety” but allowed to walk free
The gunman at the centre of a seemingly random killing spree that claimed the lives of three people in Montreal and Laval over a 24-hour period was allowed to continue living outside a mental health facility, even though a psychiatrist deemed he was a “significant risk to public safety” last spring.
The shooter, 26-year-old Abdulla Shaikh, was shot dead by Montreal police Thursday morning in a motel parking lot during an operation linked to the three killings.
Court records show Shaikh had a criminal record for charges including assault and mischief.
