July 23 (Reuters) – The rapidly spreading monkeypox outbreak represents a global health emergency, the World Health Organization’s highest level of alert, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Saturday.
The WHO label – a “public health emergency of international concern” – is designed to sound an alarm that a coordinated international response is needed and could unlock funding and global efforts to collaborate on sharing vaccines and treatments.

Canada’s environment minister says the federal government could give oil and gas companies extra time to fully meet 2030 emissions reduction targets.
“[We] recognize that some of the measures that will be needed to achieve those deep emission reductions might require more time than what we have between now and 2030,” Steven Guilbeault said in an interview with CBC Radio’s The House.
“I’m not saying today it’s necessarily going to be 2032, but the companies have said it could be 10 years, which would bring us to 2032.”
Canada contributes a whopping 1.6% to total Global GHG emissions. This is a ludicrous offer of compromise by Guilbeault. I hope they see the writing on the wall, the people will fight back if they wage a green-scam class war.
So naturally Trudeau thinks crippling the oil and gas sector, decimating Canada’s overall economic well being and further alienating the west is a great trade off to achieving exactly squat environmentally.
Who runs our foreign policy? Is it the White House, State Department and Senate? Or is it the Chinese Politburo and the Kremlin?
Going on events this week I’d say it’s starting to look like the latter. Consider the reaction of the Chinese Communist Party to news that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was planning a congressional delegation to Taiwan. As The Post reported this week, the Communists said that any such trip would have a “severe negative impact” on relations between the US and Beijing. The CCP spokesman said that China “firmly” opposes any interactions between the US and Taiwan.

New YouGov polling should be a wake-up call to campaigners and politicians who have been playing politics with transgender rights. The headlines look dreadful. “There has been an erosion in support for transgender rights since 2018”, YouGov finds. But dig a little deeper and a different story emerges.
The Senate Armed Services Committee issued a report urging the Pentagon to halt its fruitless hunt for “extremists” in the ranks. Former White House adviser Stephen K. Bannon was found guilty Friday in federal court in Washington, DC, on both counts of contempt of Congress, after the jury deliberated for about three hours.
