Antifa’s Violent Attack on the Portland ‘Peoples Truck Convoy’ Was Openly Plotted on Twitter

The “People’s Convoy” of truckers was attacked by known Antifa members who dropped projectiles, paintballs, eggs, and other objects at passing motorists in hopes of injuring drivers and stopping the convoy.

The attack could have been deadly. And it was openly organized on Twitter. But sure, let’s censor conservative speech, Silicon Valley and Alejandro Mayorkas.

Antifa mob hurls smoke bombs at crowd of Republicans in Portland including children and old people, leaving two injured

A black-clad Antifa mob in Prtland launched smoke bombs, paint, fireworks and rocks at Republicans supporting an Oregon GOP gubernatorial candidate who were demanding law and order be returned to the crime-plagued city.

Video shows the intimidating group waving black flags and lobbing smoke bombs at the conservative crowd, which included children and elderly people, during the rally near Southwest 3rd Avenue and Southwest Main Street on Saturday.

Deaths in climate-related disasters declined 99% from a century ago

A new United Nations report has revealed the disturbing news that the number of global disasters has quintupled since 1970 and will increase by another 40 percent in coming decades. They find that more people are affected by disasters than ever before, and the UN Deputy Secretary-General warns humanity is “on a spiral of self-destruction.”

Astonishingly, the UN is misusing data, and its approach has been repeatedly shown to be wrong. Its finding makes for great headlines—but it just isn’t grounded in evidence.

What To Do About China

Flying Tigers

All the conditions for history’s next great war are in place. Jim Holmes, the Wiley Professor at the Naval War College, actually talks about this period as being 1937.

1937 was the year in which if you were in Europe or America, you could sense the trouble. If you were in Asia in 1937, you would be even more worried, because that year saw Japan’s second invasion of China that decade.

No matter where you lived, however, you could not be sure that the worst would happen, that great armies and navies around the world would clash. There was still hope that the situation could be managed. As we now know, the worst did happen. In fact, what happened was worse than what anyone thought at the time.

We are now, thanks to China, back to 1937.

‘EU Empire‘: Army, Centralised Brussels Powers Approved by Conference

The Conference on the Future of Europe has approved measures calling for the establishment of a European Union army and centralising power in the hands of Brussels eurocrats on Saturday.

The Conference, which was established last year to supposedly add more democratic voices to the way the EU operates through the addition of supposed ‘citizens panels’, has been criticised for doing the exact opposite.

I see a great big Russia.

Who’s in the race? A peek into the CPC leadership candidates’ strategies

The race is officially on. As of Friday afternoon, at least six candidates had filed their signatures and big bucks to appear on the final ballot in hopes of becoming the next leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

Prepare to see a shift in strategies as candidates gear up for the upcoming debates in May. They will have to decide who they want on their side and who they want to attack. And how do some intend to get noticed in a more crowded race than anticipated?

Poilievre seems to be in control. Not sure anyone can beat him.

I monitor Russian state TV for a living – here’s how Putin’s propaganda is changing

As the war drags on, new narratives are emerging

Every day since Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February, I’ve been immersed in the world of Russian state TV, tracking the narratives that are pushed to viewers across the world’s largest country.

Nine years ago, when I began learning Russian at university, I’d not heard of either Vladimir Solovyov or Olga Skabeyeva, whose TV talk shows now dominate my working life as a media monitor.

In a studio with enormous screens showing images of purportedly fallen Ukrainian soldiers, guests stand in a circle. An enormous Z – the letter that now symbolises Russia’s invasion – is emblazoned on the floor.

Toronto planned encampment clearing operation for months, built profiles of residents

TORONTO – The City of Toronto spent months laying out plans to clear about two dozen people from a homeless encampment in a popular park last summer, building dossiers on those living there and involving hundreds of municipal workers in the process, internal documents reveal.

The details are contained in thousands of pages obtained by activists through freedom-of-information laws.

The city documents, shared with The Canadian Press, reveal the scale of the clearing effort for Trinity Bellwoods Park – an operation that took place last June and eventually turned violent.

I have little praise for Tory but he did the right thing about the encampments.

Organizers say Ottawa Rolling Thunder rally ends Sunday, police say no long-term occupation

OTTAWA – The “Rolling Thunder” rally is set to wind down today after arriving in Ottawa Friday afternoon, bringing large crowds to a downtown core where residents are still tense after the three-week-long occupation in February.

A spokeswoman for Freedom Fighters Canada, one of the groups organizing the weekend-long demonstration, says a church service scheduled for 10:30 a.m. is the only event associated with the rally set to take place today.

Protest organizers say the rally was set up to oppose COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

New study: Face mask usage correlates with higher death rates

Using data from 35 countries and 602 million people, peer-reviewed study confirms previous research and cautions use of face masks “may have harmful unintended consequences.”

A new peer-reviewed study entitled: “Correlation Between Mask Compliance and COVID-19 Outcomes in Europe” has demonstrated that use of face masks, even widespread, did not correlate with better outcomes during the COVID epidemic, based on data from 35 European countries with populations of over one million people each, encompassing a total of 602 million people.

The study noted that the average proportion of mask usage in the period investigated (October 2020 until March 2021) was 60.9% ± 19.9%.

First civilians evacuated from Mariupol steelworks as Pelosi makes Kyiv visit

Zelensky will meet with anyone

The first group of civilians who have been sheltering under a steel plant that is the last redoubt for Ukrainian forces in the destroyed city of Mariupol have managed to get out.

A senior Ukrainian soldier inside the Azovstal steelworks said about 20 women and children had left, as the US House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, met Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Kyiv, where she pledged support for his country’s “fight for freedom”. Pelosi, whose visit was not announced beforehand, is the highest-level US official to meet the Ukrainian president since the war began.

WARMINGTON: Suspended vaccine holdout Toronto cops have first arbitration hearing

For the more than 100 Toronto Police vaccine holdouts, the good news is their grievance has finally made it to the hearing room.

The bad news is hopes for a quick resolution were dashed when the first session ended without an agreement Friday.

“After today’s day-long, in-camera meeting, no final determinations were made,” said a message from the Toronto Police Associations’s board of directors to members.
