Mark MacDonald, national Indigenous archbishop of the Anglican church resigns over sex abuse accusations

An influential national archbishop of the Anglican Church of Canada resigned from office and all church duties after being accused of sexual misconduct.

The departure of Mark MacDonald, national Indigenous archbishop with oversight of pastoral care for Indigenous Canadian church members since 2007, came suddenly on Wednesday, while the church’s handling of additional — apparently unrelated — allegations of sexual misconduct was already under fire.

Florida lawmakers vote to end Disney’s tax privilege, self-governing status

Florida’s Republican-led Senate approved a bill on Wednesday that would eliminate The Walt Disney Company’s special tax district that has allowed the company to self-govern its land.

The Florida House is also expected to vote in favor of the legislation after Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis announced on Tuesday that lawmakers will be “considering termination of all special districts that were announced in Florida prior to 1968 — and that includes the Reedy Creek Improvement District.”

Russia’s latest military failures polarise society even more

War critics grow increasingly vocal while state media fuels hatred for the west

Even Vladimir Soloviev, a state TV host, was having trouble swallowing the loss of Russia’s flagship cruiser Moskva last week as he took aim at a rare target: the Russian military.

“You just tell me how you were able to lose it,” he said in an extended temper tantrum on his talkshow, one of Russia’s most popular. “Tell me, what the hell were you doing in that particular area of the Black Sea at that moment?”

Leftists’ anti-police policies have led to a startling number of black, Latino crime victims

A Fox News story reports there was a staggering 43% increase in the murders of black Americans in 2020 compared to the past 10-year average.

The finding is shocking — but not surprising. After all, New York proved decades ago that reducing crime disproportionally benefited blacks and Latinos because they comprise most of crime’s victims. Fewer crimes mean fewer victims of all races, but the drop is most pronounced among nonwhites.

Biden’s Middle East: Saudi Arabia Embraces China; Will They Topple the Dollar?

Saudi Arabia is considering selling oil to China — which buys more than 25% of Saudi oil exports — in exchange for yuan (China’s currency), according to a recent report by the Wall Street Journal. The move would be unprecedented. Saudi Arabia, ever since its 1974 agreement with US President Richard Nixon, has been selling oil in exchange for US dollars.

The change, if realized, would be significant. The status of the US dollar, including as the world’s reserve currency, depends on its dominance of global markets, especially the oil market, where 80% of sales are done in US dollars. If Saudi Arabia were to break the tradition of pricing its oil in dollars, as it is contemplating doing, others could well start to price oil in yuan or other currencies — negatively affecting the US dollar’s status and potentially the entire US economy.

Why aren’t we talking about the Islamist uprising in Sweden?

Right now, in Europe, mobs of people are rioting. They’re hurling rocks and stones at police officers and setting fire to cars. Several cities have been shaken to their core by this riotous fury. A police chief says they are the most violent street disturbances he has ever known. Worse, this is an entirely regressive riot. It is not an angry uprising for democracy or liberty, but its polar opposite – it’s a screech of religious rage against the expression of certain ‘blasphemous’ ideas; it’s a fiery effort to suppress ‘offensive’ speech. Some of the worst riots in a country’s living memory, all to the end of defending archaic religious beliefs from challenge or criticism… why aren’t we talking about this?

FDA enlists states in Lucky Charms probe, company hands out coupons to victims

The feds have enlisted multiple states to assist an investigation of reports of sickness caused by Lucky Charms — and meanwhile customers are complaining that the sugary breakfast cereal’s manufacturer, General Mills, has had a lame response.

The Food and Drug Administration has tapped at least four states — New York, Michigan, Kansas and Arkansas — whose health departments are now are contacting and interviewing consumers who have reported bouts of vomiting and diarrhea after eating Lucky Charms, according to customers and state officials.

It’s likely a banal reason will be found explaining these Unlucky Charms but we have been fortunate to date that neither the water supply or food chain has been successfully tampered with.

We never got cereal like this when I was a kid. We got Cornflakes, Shredded wheat, porridge and occasionally those huge bags of wheat puffs.
