Tuned Out: Netflix Shares Plunge As Subscribers Flee; Elon Musk blames ‘Woke Mind Virus’

Elon Musk pinned a drop in Netflix’s share prices on the “woke mind virus” — which makes the streaming service “unwatchable” — on Tuesday night.

Netflix reported on Tuesday that it lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022 while bracing for 2 million lost subscribers in the second quarter. Shares of the company dropped more than 20% in after-hours trading.

Civil liberties groups demand inquiry into Trudeau’s use of emergency powers against Freedom Convoy

A group of 15 civil liberties organizations demanded an open “public” independent inquiry be held to scrutinize Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shutting down the trucker Freedom Convoy though the use of the Emergencies Act (EA).

As reported by Blacklock’s Reporter, late last week the civil liberties organizations argued together in a joint petition that it is concerned about “the use of state and police powers to suppress constitutional rights.”

Surging gas prices, Ukraine war pushed inflation to 6.7% in March

The increase compared with gain of 5.7 per cent in February.

Fuelling much of the increase in March were higher prices at the pumps as gasoline prices rose 39.8 per cent compared with the same month one year earlier.

The war in Ukraine is changing — and the West now faces a stark choice

Is the goal to ensure the survival of a Ukrainian state? Or is it to defeat Russia?

The inevitable fall of Mariupol — Ukraine’s long-suffering eastern port on the Sea of Azov, now besieged, pounded to dust and soaked in the blood of its residents — will carry with it a heavy symbolism, the kind observers say western allies need to reflect upon urgently.

Already, it has the potential to change the trajectory of war. Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky warned this week that peace talks will end if Moscow “eliminates” the city’s defenders.

We accuse Russia of genocide while our Euro allies suck up huge quantities of Russian gas. If this is “RealPolitik” then get ready Ukraine because Yalta Redux here we come.

The goal for Trudeau is to use the conflict to advance his inhuman green-scam agenda. Freeland wants to be national heroine of Ukraine while Europe just wants Russian gas.

John Ivison: It’s time for Canada to be more than a covert friend to Ukraine

If the government is wielding covert influence, it is not sharing that information with its MPs or senior bureaucrats, who complain privately about a tentative, opaque and ponderous policy

Ukraine is set to convene with its closest allies to discuss future security guarantees in the event of a diplomatic settlement in the war with Russia, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

But Canada will not be at the table — much to the chagrin of some senior diplomats who want to see a more energetic response from Ottawa.

Some on the Left Are Worried That the Transgender Craze Has Gone ‘Too Far’

“Transgenderism” or “gender identity disorder” is based on an actual, rare, psychological condition known as gender dysphoria. No one is sure how many individuals are actually afflicted with the condition. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) — the Bible for psychiatry — estimates that about 0.005% to 0.014% of people assigned male at birth and 0.002% to 0.003% of people assigned female at birth are diagnosable with gender dysphoria.

Driving Means Freedom

Rising expenses and regulatory hurdles limit Americans’ mobility.

When I started driving, my folks planted me behind the wheel of a nearly unbreakable late-’70s Jeep Wagoneer. “The tank” got me to work, rock concerts, and parties. It got me through snowstorms that stranded lesser vehicles on the roadside. In a pinch, it could fit me, 10 of my friends, and a keg of beer in relative comfort (at least for the keg).

I miss the tank. Unlike our newer SUV, it would have barely suffered a scratch when my 16-year-old son hit a signpost. But I’m glad my kid, even without the tank to learn in, has taken to life behind the wheel and the freedom that comes with driving.

Did a terror spree in Israel extend to New Jersey?

Terror attacks in Israel are so alarming that the first fatal assault could well have inspired a copycat crime 5,400 miles west – in Lakewood, N.J.

One man was stabbed in the chest and two victims were rammed by a car. A fourth victim was assaulted when he was carjacked. All four were hospitalized.

Black Americans bearing the brunt of murderous ‘Defund the Police’ movement: report

New analysis of FBI data revealed the devastating impact that defunding the police has had on black Americans who experienced a 32 percent spike in murder from 2019 to 2020 after the death of George Floyd “spurred an outpouring of contempt against the pillars of law and order.”

2020 was already fraught with challenges as Americans were faced with the unprecedented governmental response to the COVID pandemic. However, the death of Floyd in May is now being interpreted as the catalyst for the dramatic spike in violence that had been witnessed, at much lower levels, following similar publicized tragedies.

For Russia and the West, the Moskva’s Sinking Is Truly Historic

In 2019, the commander in chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, was invited to Japan by Admiral Hiroshi Yamamura. The caption in the photo-op, posted on social media by the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, was relatively benign, simply stating that “ADM YAMAMURA Hiroshi, Chief of Maritime staff, invited officially ADM Nikolay Yevmenov, commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy. They discussed about the current situation and the Japan-Russia defense exchange, promoted mutual understanding.”

Farewell to America’s military meritocracy

As a fleet sailor for over thirty years, I saw our Navy and other branches military up close and personal. Yes, when I raised my right hand in 1970 to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America,” there were still vestiges of racism and discrimination in all the services. Perhaps there was more in the tradition-bound Navy than in any other branch — stewards were either Filipino or Black, and there were very few minority commanding officers, let alone admirals. That has changed dramatically in the last fifty years.
