Judge chides Quebec dad for taking son, 10, to ‘Freedom Convoy’ protests

A Quebec judge has ordered a father to stop taking his 10-year-old son to anti-mandate protests after he brought him to the “Freedom Convoy” in Ottawa during one weekend in February.

The court also intervened in another parental dispute involving the same child — in that case, his vaccination status was at issue — and ruled that the boy can get the COVID-19 vaccine as requested by his mother, against his father’s wishes.

… “The remarks made by the participants are hardly laudatory against the government and… there is a serious risk that it can degenerate quickly,” wrote Superior Court Justice Nathalie Pelletier in her judgment.

Rupa Subramanya: Smearing Pierre Poilievre because many of those at his rallies are white is itself racist

The idea that the rightness of a cause is to be judged by the demographic makeup of those who appear to support it, a common assumption on the left, is itself racist

As Pierre Poilievre crisscrosses Canada, very much the front runner in the Conservative leadership race, he continues to attract large crowds wherever he goes. On April 12, he addressed a large gathering at Spruce Meadows, on the southern edge of Calgary, where around 5,000 people came out to hear him address a range of issues, from pandemic lockdowns and restrictions, to the Freedom Convoy protests, inflation and bitcoin.

Maskaholics

Wearing a mask may still give some people a sense of security, but they could breathe more easily if they’d face the facts.

The pandemic has eased, but not the compulsion of many Americans to cover their faces. Fully vaccinated adults are still wearing masks on their solitary walks outdoors, and officials have been enforcing mask mandates on airline passengers and on some city-dwellers and students.

‘Treasure Trove’: GOP Investigator Says House Republicans Have Hunter Biden’s Laptop

Speaking to Fox News on Sunday, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said that “we have the laptop,” and “in the meantime, we’re investigating.” Issa described the findings on the laptop as a “treasure trove” before saying that “we’re going to need a special prosecutor” to look into other allegations about Biden’s business dealings in various countries, including China.

On the laptop is “direct communication between [President Joe Biden] and his son,” “a good dive into how sick and vulnerable Hunter Biden was,” and “some of the things he did,” Issa said, adding that there were photos on the hard drive that allegedly showed the younger Biden’s “drug stash.”

The Testosterone Hangover

The Biden administration says transgender kids are entitled to ‘gender-affirming’ medical care. These girls disagree. ‘I have this intense rage in me over the harm that was done to me.’

When Chloe woke up from an elective double mastectomy, she texted her mother in the waiting room: “Booba gone.”

This was a little over two years ago. She was 15 at the time. “The typo was intentional,” she told me recently. “I thought it was funny.”

“Is that a good thing?” her mom replied.

“Yes,” Chloe texted back.

“I don’t think that answer aged well,” she said to me.

Swedish Municipal Leaders Choose Submission To Islam

Municipalities wrote letters to the police: Stop Paludan

After the violent riots, two municipalities have appealed to the police not to give Rasmus Paludan new permits for Koran burning.

During the Easter weekend, the Danish politician Rasmus Paludan had received a police permit to carry out Koran burning in several cities: Linköping, Jönköping, Norrköping , Malmö, Örebro and Stockholm.

In several cities, this led to violent riots in which 16 policemen were injured.

Olle Vikmång (S), chairman of the municipal board in Norrköping, condemned both Paludan’s demonstration and the violent riots in the Navestad district on Good Friday.

– I feel disgust for the messages that Paludan conveys. But it gives no right to resort to violence against the police and rescue services and to burn cars, injure, threaten and scare people, he says.

Rex Murphy: You could drive an 18-wheeler through our Charter of Rights and Freedoms

The year 2022 is not a good one for celebrating the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

We mark the 40th anniversary of that celebrated instrument this week. Over the years it has been held up as the very jewel of the Canadian Constitution. The one great bulwark for every single citizen’s civic integrity. The very banner of Canadian democracy. The text of our liberties. A great, invulnerable wall against the encroachments of government on the day-to-day lives of Canadians.

Canada’s Magna Carta.
