In Going Mainstream, ’60s Counterculture Has Lost Its Edge

There’s nothing left to rebel against and no one left to shock.

It’s been a strange time to be a freethinking rock fan. Counterculture legends Joni Mitchell and Neil Young — the very man who once taught us to “keep on rockin’ in the free world” — led the charge to deplatform comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan from Spotify for the capital crime of dissent. The two rockers made a decidedly unhip ultimatum: it’s either Rogan or us. Then — without a hint of irony — Young directed his fans to the streaming service of Amazon. Yes, that Amazon. The multinational company owned by the richest man on the planet that forces its drivers to urinate into plastic bottles.

Biden Declares Putin ‘Cannot Remain In Power,’ White House Quickly Walks It Back

President Joe Biden said Russian President Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power” in remarks made Saturday.

The president spoke in Warsaw, Poland to wrap up his multi-day trip to Europe. His comments mark one of the strongest statements made by the president and his administration so far regarding Putin being in power, though the White House sought to quickly clarify his comments afterwards.

Alberta’s Kenney defends calling party opponents ‘lunatics,’ comparing them to bugs

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney says he won’t apologize for comments he is heard making in recordings in which he compares political opponents in his party to insects and calls them lunatics.

Kenney says the United Conservative Party is under siege from extremist elements, including homophobes and religious bigots, seeking a hostile takeover by toppling him in an upcoming leadership review.

“I am determined to ensure that such hateful, extreme and divisive voices do not find a home in this mainstream broad conservative party,” Kenney told reporters in Calgary on Friday.

The Loch Ness Monster Is RACIST!

To many, it’s a fun fairytale to lure tourists; to others, it’s a genuine mystery – or just a silly hoax.

But to woke education chiefs, the Loch Ness Monster is a potent symbol of England’s domination of Scotland – a theory which will now be taught in schools.

Pupils north of the border are to be told how the mythical beast reinforces negative stereotypes and ingrains bias about the Scots.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Kaneda

The Truckers Convoy that parked for three exuberant weeks in Ottawa protesting the draconian mandate policies of the government has been cleared away and nothing much had changed at the federal level. Most of the provinces have relaxed their COVID-19 restrictions, but the federal authorities have not budged an inch. The mandatory regime remains in place, and travel is still restricted for the unvaccinated, in flagrant violation of Section 6 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

California May Very Likely Soon Legalize Infanticide

When Spencer covered news earlier this month that the Maryland legislature was considering the Pregnant Person’s Freedom Act of 2022, it was tempting to think it was too evil to be true. It’s not just another abortion expansion bill, but rather it allows for infanticide in that those responsible are off the hook when a child born alive from abortion is left to die or is actively killed, even weeks later due to neglect. Fortunately Gov. Larry Hogan (R-MD) is too pro-life to approve of this atrocity, with the “perinatal” language having been removed from the Senate bill. California, however, is another story.

Beware the risks of tyrannical tech

Your bank account, car and WiFi could be shut off at a moment’s notice

“Just think about it. Our whole world is sitting there on a computer. It’s in the computer, everything: your, your DMV records, your, your social security, your credit cards, your medical records. It’s all right there. Everyone is stored in there. It’s like this little electronic shadow on each and every one of us, just, just begging for someone to screw with, and you know what? They’ve done it to me, and you know what? They’re gonna do it to you.”

Mutinous Russian troops ran over their own commander, say western officials

Western officials have said they believe a Russian commander was run over by mutinous forces during the fighting in Ukraine, in a sign of what they described as the “morale challenges” faced by the invading forces.

They highlighted – and repeated – reports from earlier this week from a Ukrainian journalist that a colonel of the 37th separate guards motor rifle brigade was run over by a tank. Some reports said he had died of his injuries.

One official said they believed that the brigade commander was “killed by his own troops” as “a consequence of the scale of losses that had been taken by his brigade” in the bitter fighting.

Is there a lesson here for Canada’s armed forces? Asking for a friend.

Biden Administration’s Nuclear Deal: “This Isn’t Obama’s Iran Deal. It’s Much, Much Worse.”

The Biden administration continues to disregard major concerns regarding the Iran nuclear deal, and has reportedly “refused to commit to submit a new Iran deal to the Senate for ratification as a treaty, as per its constitutional obligation.”

Forty-nine Republican Senators recently told the Biden Administration that they will not back the administration’s nuclear deal with Iran.

Biden is not driving this bus he’s too enfeebled and easily lead, the State Department, left largely intact from the Obama admin is the wheelman.

Inside the Squad’s ‘Putin problem’

It looks the Squad has a Putin problem — as in a reluctance to stand up to the Russian autocrat.

Two of the group’s core members, Reps. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) were the only two House Democrats to vote against sanctioning Russia’s oil industry, while Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) in the runup to the invasion argued against providing Ukraine with aid.

And, in a now-deleted tweet, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Bx./Queens) argued that Washington should “avoid sanctions” against Russia as they would “hurt the Ukrainian people” — inadvertently (we hope) echoing the line pushed by RT, the Russian TV outlet, which similarly insists sanctioning Russia is a “threat to Ukraine too.”

Europeans see through Justin Trudeau

A couple of days ago, the Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau, by the Grace of Singh, Prime Minister of All Canuckistan, descended from the heavens [from an aging RCAF B767 actually. Ed.] to cast before the European parliament a few pearls anent the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In a particularly fulsome pastiche of pusillanimous platitudes, Mr Socks called on the Euroweenies to stand together, stay strong, and fight valiantly to preserve liberal democracy… just as he had done the previous month when he bravely stood up to the truckers and other harborers of “unacceptable views” who besieged the world’s second-coldest capital in the Freedom Convoy.

Whoopi demands royal family apologize for colonial past weeks after saying Holocaust wasn’t racist

Fresh off her suspension from “The View” for saying “the Holocaust wasn’t racist,” Whoopi Goldberg is making headlines once again.

The 66-year-old actress, known for her roles in the movies “Sister Act” and “Ghost,” is no stranger to making controversial statements. It was just last month that “The View” suspended her from the program for her widely panned comments claiming the Holocaust wasn’t about race.
