Thousands in Ottawa protest COVID mandates, ̷m̷a̷n̷y̷ ̷r̷e̷b̷u̷k̷e̷d̷ – a few deserving of rebuke

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Thousands of protesters gathered in Canada’s capital on Saturday to protest vaccine mandates, masks and lockdowns.

Some parked on the grounds of the National War Memorial and danced on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, others carried signs and flags with swastikas and some used the statue of Canadian hero Terry Fox to display an anti-vaccine statement, sparking widespread condemnation.

“I am sickened to see protesters dance on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and desecrate the National War Memorial. Generations of Canadians have fought and died for our rights, including free speech, but not this. Those involved should hang their heads in shame,” tweeted Gen. Wayne Eyre, Canada’s Defense Staff chief.

Protestors compared vaccine mandates to fascism, one truck carried a Confederate flag and many carried expletive-laden signs targeting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Dancing on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier? Bad.

Expletive ridden anti-Justin signage? Good and F-Off if you disagree;)

Use of Nazi symbols to illustrate a point? Bad. But in Canada our media makes an exception and says it’s OK if you are hating on Israel.

Messing with statues? Bad. But it’s OK if the media says so, same with burning churches.

Threatening Police or Others? Bad. Unless according to media you are a member of BLM or similar.

Several criminal investigations underway connected with Ottawa convoy protest

The Ottawa Police Service says criminal investigations are underway in connection with incidents during Saturday’s “Freedom Convoy” protest on Parliament Hill and throughout the city’s downtown core.

“Several criminal investigations are underway in relation to the desecration of the National War Memorial/Terry Fox statue, threatening/illegal/intimidating behaviour to police/city workers and other individuals and damage to a city vehicle,” police said in a tweet Sunday.

Thousands join protest in Canada against Covid vaccine mandates

Thousands held a loud but peaceful protest in Canada’s capital Ottawa against prime minister Justin Trudeau’s Covid-19 vaccine mandates, on the streets and snow-covered lawn in front of parliament.

The so-called “Freedom Convoy” started out as a rally of truckers against a vaccine requirement for cross-border drivers, but turned into a demonstration against government overreach during the pandemic with a strong anti-vaccination streak.

“I’m not able to work no more because I can’t cross the border,” said Csava Vizi, a trucker from Windsor who noted he was the family’s sole breadwinner.

A slightly less hysterical Guardian piece than yesterdays.

WARMINGTON: Border surveillance app sounds like 1984 but very much 2022

Even George Orwell didn’t write of a surveillance tool like this.

In the name of preventing COVID-19 spread through Canada’s border points, a new information tracking app now being utilized is either a modern way of keeping the country safe or something dystopian out of Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four novel warning of totalitarianism.

I hope others follow suit.

Dutch truckers first to follow in Canada demonstration

THE EU could be on the verge of more haulage woes as Dutch lorry drivers appeared to join in their Canadian cousins in their “freedom convoy” protest against mandatory Covid vaccines.

In eastern Ukraine, war-weary soldiers and civilians await Russia’s next move

The frontlines of Eastern Ukraine are snow-laden and the big guns are largely silent. But snipers are bedded into this winter white wasteland. Ukrainian troops who forget to stay low in their World War One-style trenches risk a bullet to the head.

The conflict here has been frozen in place since 2014, when separatists, backed by Moscow, seized parts of the Donbas region. At least 13,000 people have been killed, both combatants and civilians. Now Western leaders are warning of something much worse – a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. If it comes, the eastern front would be an easy place to start, with the pro-Russian rebels here paving the way.

Some alleged trucker convoy organizers have history of white nationalism, racism

As the first vehicles from the trucker convoy started appearing on Ottawa streets, some Twitter users shared a particular photo: a pickup truck with a confederate flag flying from the bed.

Now, as the convoy descends on Ottawa with the stated aim of opposing all COVID-19 mandates, anti-hate experts allege those with white nationalist and Islamophobic views don’t just represent the fringes of the movement but are among the organizers of the convoy.

Global has dug up a sketchy individual or two for their latest hit piece but are they organizers?

Even Global admits they aren’t sure“It can be difficult to determine who is a key organizer of the convoy, but there are some names that emerge time and time again.”

Being a squeaky wheel does not make someone an “organizer.” As for the others mentioned if talking like a normal person is scary to you Media types I suggest you get out more or find another line of work.

Any movement is going to attract it’s share of lunatics. Look at the NDP and LPC – they elected racists as leaders.

Ontario has plenty new Covid cases … and … Treat Covid like the Flu?

Ontario has plenty new Covid cases … and … Treat Covid like the Flu?

Ont. adds 58 more deaths to COVID-19 death toll; 3,019 now in hospital with virus

Ontario has added another 58 deaths to its COVID-19 death toll as hospitalizations once again drop week-over-week.

According to the latest data released by the province, there are 3,019 people hospitalized with COVID-19, down from 3,797 last week. Of those in hospital, 587 are receiving treatment in intensive care units, down from 604 last Sunday.

GOLDSTEIN: Treating COVID like the flu is inevitable, so do it sensibly

While it has long been considered heresy for members of the public to say that COVID-19 cannot be contained by lockdowns and that it’s time we learned to live with it like the flu, this is now the view of many medical officers of health across Canada.

But…

Some urge vaccine certificates to require three doses as Ontario set for reopening

TORONTO — Restaurants, gyms, cinemas and many other businesses in Ontario are set to open their doors once again on Monday to fully vaccinated patrons, but with COVID-19 levels likely just past a peak, some question if “fully vaccinated” should be redefined.

Businesses and facilities that were closed early this month in response to surging cases driven by the highly transmissible Omicron variant are being allowed to reopen with capacity limits and will need to operate under the vaccine certificate system. That means only allowing customers who show proof they’ve received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, which is currently considered fully vaccinated

Thousands opposed to COVID-19 rules converge on Parliament Hill

A convoy of thousands of truckers and other protesters converged on Parliament Hill Saturday to call for an end to COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other public health restrictions — a raucous demonstration that has police on high alert for possible violence even as organizers urge the crowd to be peaceful.

Hundreds of protesters on foot flooded into the parliamentary precinct on Saturday in the midst of an extreme cold warning, joining a lineup of truckers that started to arrive on the scene late Friday night.

They were later joined by other drivers and demonstrators from all regions of the country that, in some cases, travelled thousands of kilometres to take their message to the streets outside of the Prime Minister’s Office in the downtown core.

I love that Daily Mail headline. CBC seems very anxious that this blows over quickly, they’re already making an effort to marginalize the trucker protest due no doubt to a lack of their hoped for Nazis.

The Battle for the World’s Most Powerful Cyberweapon

In June 2019, three Israeli computer engineers arrived at a New Jersey building used by the F.B.I. They unpacked dozens of computer servers, arranging them on tall racks in an isolated room. As they set up the equipment, the engineers made a series of calls to their bosses in Herzliya, a Tel Aviv suburb, at the headquarters for NSO Group, the world’s most notorious maker of spyware. Then, with their equipment in place, they began testing.

The F.B.I. had bought a version of Pegasus, NSO’s premier spying tool. For nearly a decade, the Israeli firm had been selling its surveillance software on a subscription basis to law-enforcement and intelligence agencies around the world, promising that it could do what no one else — not a private company, not even a state intelligence service — could do: consistently and reliably crack the encrypted communications of any iPhone or Android smartphone.

Will We Ever Eradicate the Cancer of Identity Politics?

On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court finally granted a writ of certiorari in two now-consolidated affirmative action cases, Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard College and Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina.

The cases will be jointly argued during the next Supreme Court term, and they place directly in their crosshairs the court’s noxious precedents in the thorny area of race-conscious university admission policies.

As presented to the court, the leading question the justices will consider is “whether the Supreme Court should … hold that institutions of higher education cannot use race as a factor in admissions.”

Media Attack Investigative Reporter for Investigating and Reporting on CAIR

Hamas-linked CAIR gets a free pass from lazy media that smear Steven Emerson as an ‘Islamophobe.’

When accusations first emerged that Steven Emerson’s Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) had an informant inside the Ohio office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), it was clear that the media had missed the story entirely. Instead of bemoaning “spying” by a “mole” inside the most high-profile Islamist group in the nation, the headlines should have read “Moderate Muslim Infiltrates Islamist Organization.”

Putin splits NATO and cuts out Biden: Russian president agrees to hold talks with Germany, France and Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to hold talks with Germany, France and Ukraine as NATO fails to take action on the rising conflict in Easter Europe and President Joe Biden’s announcement on Friday that he would deploy troops ‘in the near term’ without backing from NATO.

The blow to NATO and exclusion of America in negotiation talks on the Russian-Ukraine crisis came after Putin accused the U.S. and NATO of ignoring the Kremlin’s ‘fundamental concerns’ over NATO’s growth during a call with French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday.

Was splitting NATO the goal all along?

The elites’ morally obscene response to the Canadian trucker convoy

Something big is happening in Canada, and it’s happening in a typically Canadian way. After two years of draconian lockdowns and mandates, truckers are pushing back with a 45-mile-long convoy that pulled into Ottawa yesterday. It’s exciting and inspiring. It’s also drawing the elites out from cover, as they abandon any pretense of supporting the people they applauded so vigorously almost two years ago when they hid in their offices while “the little people” kept the world working.

Soros-Funded DA George Gascón Rationalizes Crime-Wave Epidemic

The blood on two men’s hands.

Like other cities run by Democrats, Los Angeles is going through an epidemic of violent crime. Its Soros-funded DA George Gascón has a lot of blood on his hands for increasing the mayhem. When he was sworn in, he said his office would not prosecute a host of misdemeanor crimes, or seek the death penalty for even the most heinous murders. No surprise that, as Broken Windows policing confirmed nearly two decades ago, tolerating “non-violent” crimes has increased violent ones.
